[Walmart.com] Samsung 40" 4K MU6290 $249 w/ store pickup

There was a 40" Samsung in stock at my store Wednesday night - some guy was debating whether to buy it and he walked off - I had the cashier scan it - yep, $169 - but Christmas broke us pretty bad and we don't really need one / have a place for it.

No way it's still there now.

I just happened on the slickdeals post myself yesterday and ended up getting one. When I saw it none of my local walmarts had them for $169 (they were all $249 or more), so I figured I'd wait. Well, I checked about a half an hour later and one of the stores had updated their price! Managed to get one ordered for pickup and it was actually there when I got to the store.

Now trying to find a video card to drive this thing at 4K is driving me absolutely #$?!#?$#$ nuts though! Almost _everything_ is out of stock, and what is in stock (down to the lowest of the low!) has had the price jacked up. =( There were a couple cards on Amazon in Warehouse Deals this morning, but those disappeared pretty damned quickly.

On a side note, I was able to sucessfully get Bluetooth enabled in the Service Menu and pair a set of headphones.

There was 6 of these at the store 10 mins away as of this morning, when I got ready to go over lunch break I rechecked and they were all gone....

Had to drive 50 minutes to get the last one at that store... This time I called ahead to have them hold it :/ have yet to open it, I think I need to buy a mini HDMI -> HDMI cable to use this on my desktop

Can you reorder? I would send you a 10%off code but I'm not home.

Be on the lookout for the 49" LG down to $169 now, grabbed 6 last night
I just picked up 2 Samsung 40" mu6290's
For $169 a piece

First one I got @ $249 was cracked
Returned
They tried to tell me that all they could do is return the money and I could but another at full retail.
Then I looked at their inventory and found out they had 3 @ $169
I assumed pricing error and bought it
They returned $86

So I called around to see if anyone wanted the other one and when I found someone I bought the other tv

$169 for these is insane. To think that not long ago people were paying that much for basic 24" 1080p monitors is mind boggling. What a great deal if you can get it.

I bought 2 at best buy around black Friday for $300 a peice and was happy lol.

0 in stock around me.

Hopefully best buy has them back on sale tomorrow and for cheaper and it's within 45 days of purchase.

If you used a credit card, see if it offers price protection (like discover or Citi rewind) and pricematch to walmart

they are in stock near me but they have been full priced ever since I first saw this forum post

Picked up 2 last night at my local store. They had 3 and when the associate rolled them out on a cart from the back he knocked one off on the floor. I left it didn't want to chance it being good or not.

So, is this a pricing error?
Are they prepping for new models?
Any ideas or thoughts?

No just Clearance normally for new model/seasonal/ect. The 6290 is last yr model and replaced by 6300. The LG I listed was a specific BF model that they are just getting rid of.

Recently they have been reducing prices on clearance frequently.

Bought a 5 burner stainless gas grill last yr for $45. A dozen TV's and a few modems and the wife buys all the baby clothes and accessories

Just as an update, got it hooked up, and it's flawless, night and day from my old (more expensive) 39" sieki... 60hz is glorious

The 6290 and 6300 are the same model just with different features. My understanding is the KU6XXX were the 2016 model and the MU6XXX were the 2017 model.

Your right it was ku and mu.

Only difference is 6290 is supposed to have basic remote and no BT, while 6300 has smart remote and BT

I posted instructions to unlock BT from service menu on 6290

And remote is ymmv as someone posted 6290 coming with smart remote(voice activated)

Think I'll pickup a few 55" 6290's when they drop below $398, be on the lookout as they are still $498 around me

I did the Mute-1-8-2 power thing, but it never lets me into the secret menu.

How does this model compare to the ju7100 series?
Ju7100 panel is still slightly better and has more UHD color inputs for 4:4:4, but the gap in PQ is small. The 7100 build quality is nicer as well with metal bezel and stand and thicker display glass while the 6290s are plastic with thinner display glass.

Awesome. Thanks!

You want to change the name of the input to pc. On input goto edit and choose pc. Thst will put it in pc mode.

Then try to select 4:4:4 in the color profile on the pc.. it's under nvidia's control panel.. no idea for an amd card.

4:4:4 and 8bit and limited.

AMD has a similar option. I'm waiting on my dp to HDMI 2.0 adapter for 60hz with my 7950.

I read somewhere that you need to leave the TV turned off for a minute before trying to turn it back on.

I thought I was going to throw something through my wall trying to get into the service menu when I first got mine until I read exactly that. The problem is that when you turn off the TV with the power button it takes a minute or so for it to actually turn off. So just wait a bit (or maybe just unplug it?) and you should be gold. Works for me every time now.

So when do you hit the Mute-1-8-2? Right after you power down or right before you turn it back on?

Actually, isn't RGB the preferred option? That way, you get full color range.

Saw bunch of this model is up for sale on local Craig's list. lol
I might pick LG 49" up for $350, since it's about same price.

As long as you don't plan to use it as a monitor, sure. LG uses RGBW panels that look terrible when used as a monitor.
