Corsair H150i PRO RGB AIO CPU Cooler Review @ [H]

I know this is just a sample size of 6, but I've been using them for years and never had a problem. I'd argue that they are highly reliable.

I don’t doubt they are reliable, that is honestly why I came out asking if anyone else had any problems because I personally haven’t read about any straight up pump failures with these AIOs.

Guess it was luck of the draw.
 
Yeah I was dumbfounded when it happened honestly, even just for the fact that it is a Corsair product. For example, when the last one failed, I was using the computer just for YouTube and then out of nowhere it just froze. Restarted back into the BIOS and the CPU is throttling at 88 degrees Celsius. I was like , “what the fuck!?!? Not again!!”

That happened with the H115 after 7 months and that one was bought after the 100v2.

The shit part is.....is that I contacted Corsair and everything was going smoothly, they were willing to replace as long as I sent the old one in. Fine and dandy but I’m stationed in Germany so I had them shipped to an APO address and the customer representative told me they could NOT receive from APO addresses. That I would have to send it back to a German division using the German postal service and this might have been me just being lazy but at that point I was done dealing with it.

And no sarcasm, but I am glad that none of you guys had those problems. I have very rarely in my life have gotten straight up bad shit from things I have bought, so it was just probably my turn. Lol


I'm curious, how did you have them shipped to Germany? Military air freight? Is the cargo hold on those pressurized and heated?

Things can get very cold at altitude and the pressure can cause problems too.

I vaguely remember Corsair having air freight problems due to this a while back.
 
Air freight is always pressurized. It’s how the planes and cargo areas are built.

MOST of the time mail comes in on a c-17 or c-130, and having rode on both of them it’s extremely similar to the passenger part of an airplane in the cargo area when it comes to temp and pressure. Now when’s it pure cargo I’m not sure if the standards are different or not,more than likely not because the crew chiefs check things during the flights in the cargo hold.

It never leaked, just the pump shit out. :-/

This would be pretty awesome, but it also gets very complicated.

Fan acoustics and performance are going to be very case dependent and radiator dependent.

The best fan for a low FPI radiator is going to be different from the best fan for a high FPI radiator, and different cases are going to ahve different resonant frequencies, so what sounds great on one may sound miserable on another.

And then there's 120mm vs 140mm and other sizes to factor in too.

That being said, I'd definitely read a huge fan shootout if one were done. I'd find that very useful.

Yah, that would be a good read. Wonder if you could do cfm and db with them attached to a radiator, tower cooler and case. Seems like a ton of work though.

I'm thinking that it might just be better to ignore CFM and and Static pressure specs all together, and just do performance testing on a couple of radiators (one low FPI and one high FPI) with a known static wattage heat source applied to a water block on the other end.

Run them at different speeds and wait for a steady state stability then chart the dB and steady state coolant temp values at each speed.

The reason being is that CFM is usually quoted at an idealized setup with 0 back pressure, and is this a pretty meaningless specification. Likewise static pressure is usually quoted at an idealized 0 flow, making it equally useless of a measure.

Just like with the H's real world gaming tests, I feel like a somewhat real world test setup may make more sense.
 
I'd be down to do a fan shootout, but I dunno if it is feasible at this time. I'd need to build a dedicated loop using a couple different 120mm radiators, 1 low FPI 1 high), with similar flow characteristics, I'd need another pump/res (little DDC combo would be ideal imo), a direct contact thermal platform and some way to mate a block to it, as well as a shitload of fans and a way to power it all without it looking like spaghetti. and all the little bits to connect it all.
 
I bought this about a month ago and took out my custom loop. I have to be honest this thing is cooling my Ryzen better than my custom loop.
 
It will cool about the same, Id still say the Loop though. I like the Block and external separated pump design.
 
Are these the same fans I seen going for $90 each while I was browsing around best buy last week? They were ML something

I'm a little late to the party, but for the most part my Mugen 5 is quieter than my case fans, and has more than enough headroom left. I suppose if you got a reallllly shitty sample of Ryzen, the extra $110 might be worth going back to an AIO...
 
Thanks for reviewing this... but... meh... does not look all that interesting. I am on the verge of doing a new build and I still have the Arctic Cooling Liquid Freezer 240 AIO CPU Cooler which you guys reviewed a couple of years ago at the top of my list.

I just put the Arctic 240 in my new rig with some phanteks fan frames. Running at 40% the fans are silent and keep the stock clocked CPU at 27-33 degrees. Pump is totally invisible given all the other light in there. Not that it matters for cooling performance, its just kind of a dead spot.

Nice looking Build! I am just about ready to put together a a Ryzen system myself. How do you like the Asus Strix MB? Choosing a MB has been my biggest dilemma.

This is getting a little OT, but what the hell... ;)

Well, coming from a 2010 ECS socket 1151 mobo.... my bar is set pretty low. ;) That being said - clean, boots fine. Had to update my bios to get stable with the RAM (shipped bios was May2017) and I manually set my RAM speed to 3200 once it was updated. The UEFI is a bit cryptic/haphazardly organized - needed to look up a few youtube videos to figure out all the options I wanted to deal with. One disappointment is that the two physical RGB headers are logically one - colors/effects cannot be applied separately to each header. Note that the X370-F is the cheapest Strix, so I dunno how that holds as you move up the dollar chain.

The Fractal AiO has one 4 pin connector to power the pump AND the fans, with the fans plugging into a connector on the radiator frame. To correctly report/control the PWM, you must plug that single plug into the CPU FAN header, not the AiO pump header.

No reset button for BIOS, just a jumper you need to short after power down.

I haven't tried OC'ing as I like my silence, and the Fractal fans I got, while not unpleasant when they spin up past 60%, are not silent. They have a low hummm that gets progressively louder as you head towards 100%, no annoying whines or vibrations. If I do OC, I'll report back in a PM.

It's too bad that corsair decided with argueably the ugliest effing block to ever be used for an AIO.
 
I need to send em a psu back, or get something else, can't even drain the loop now because it's a sata plug...not that that's needed for awhile.
