I have a PNY GTX1070FE and it does up to 9.2 ghz without a hitch. So I expected at least 9ghz on the EVGA.

But it will only do 8.8ghz. Anything higher and instant image corruption even in outlook and chrome. The PNY didn't show any image corruption even at 9.4 ghz (but showed errors in when mining with claymore).

Its actually slower than the 1070 then mining at 33mhs vs 31mhs.

BTW the memory clock shows 3800mhz in afterburner at stock on both. Shouldn't it read 4000mhz?

The Evga card might use a different ram manufacturer, or tighter timings.

The MSI Afterburner readings is because mining doesn't put the card in highest performance state. My 1060s mine in P2 mode, where they're in P3 while playing games.

I know there's no guarantee, but by now I was expecting most cards to do at least 9ghz, I mean, its pretty common.
BTW its does 2.05 ghz easily on the core on air at less than 65°C and silent. Then again ambient temperature is like 18°C right now hehehe. I love this time of the year for OC.

I've got three 1060's that have no problem going over 9GHz, and one that hates me for even trying to go past 8.5. The three good ones have Samsung chips, the ugly one has Hynix. The Hynix one was bought two month ago.

how can I tell if its hynix?

FE should be Samsung based on what I read. AIB's seem to use Micron or Hynix. I bet your 1070TI is Micron. Hynix seems to be the worst at OC and performance.

At one point, ASUS was using Samsung which is what the card in my sig has.
