Is there a best 1080ti card? not fastest but most reliable

I agree under protest. If you want the warranty, go with the EVGA founders edition.

Also, since it's in the same ballpark pricewise, I'd have to throw out the recommendation of just getting the evga hybrid closed water loop 1080ti. The best thermals and sound profile you're probably gonna find. And coming in relatively close to the founders edition (~799) which would actually give you the best experience for sound/thermals backed by a legit warrantee.

Google "ASUS horror stories" and then google "evga horror stories", somehow when you search for "evga horror stories" the results return more asus horror stories lol

Edit: nvm, I see OP already had a bad experience with ASUS like many others including myself.
 
MINE!!! MINE Is the BEST! Nobody's is better :p.

I have a FE edition, but would love to have an Asus Strix model. My 1070 Strix was so sexy/colors etc... Will keep my 1080Ti FE though as I don't want to hassle with the selling/buying etc...
 
Have had no problems with my Gigabyte Auros. It's three-slot, but has the best air-cooled cooling apparatus I've had on a video card.

I agree. By far the quietest video card I've ever owned. Inside a closed case, with the fan at 80%, I still can't hear it. And the card runs quite cool. I wonder if the overlapping fans have something to do with that.
 
I'm a little confused - both Gigabyte and EVGA have 3 year warranties.

Is the big deal with EVGA that it is both transferable and they the best in terms of responsiveness to warranty claims?

I think this is like the last piece of my build to figure out.

And EVGA has 18... Yes 18 different 1080 TI cards on their website. I'm going mad trying to pick all my parts. :)
 
Usually the highest priced card would be the top card. Ftw3 elite (if you can find one) or kingpin.

Stay away from anything thst days DT. Means lower clocked card just to save a few bucks.

Oh and yes all around. ;)

Plus evga don't care if you remove the cooler to re past or put a water cooler on the card.. so no voiding warranty unless you physically damage the card.
 
So which of the 18 (ok I plan on going air cooled so not 18 exactly)...

Is the one to get in terms of bang for buck? (In terms of performance per average db)

I tend to doubt I'll be selling this card to be honest so transferability isn't so critical to me really.

I more care about reliability and noise.
 
EVGA, noise and reliability all brands are fairly close for the none reference coolers (you will pay a bit more for these of course).

EVGA is able to get cards in RMA quicker and do cross shipping, some others do cross shipping too, Asus and MSI, but I found EVGA faster if you don't do cross shipping, probably because they are tier one. So they have priority of stock before others do.

You want cool and quiet.. look at the review of the msi trio up top in this forum.
 
I always liked EVGA myself.

But it's hard to ignore this statement: "It's three-slot, but has the best air-cooled cooling apparatus I've had on a video card."

(when you're concerned about noise)
 
Ok my shortlist being: (in no particular order)

1) AORUS GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti Xtreme Edition 11G
2) MSI Gaming Trio
3) MSI Gaming Lightning (Don't seem to really be available)
4) One of the yet to be determined EVGA cards.

Does EVGA use a 3x DP and 1x HDMI on all it's 1080TI's?

I'd really don't care a lot about DP. HDMI gives more flexibility, does it not? (I don't think 65" televisions have DP inputs typically?

One can easily get a dp to HDMI adapter if needed.. im using one for my 40" Samsung 4k tv as the oculus is using the hdmi connection.
 
I figured you could do that but didn't research DP 1.4 vs HDMI 2.0b until just now. It appears other than the bidirectional data, that DP "wins" out.

Still not much closer to making a decision. I like the warranty support of EVGA (I've had EVGA before in the past). But I like the sound profiles of other boards. (MSI Gaming and Aorus)

Tough call.

You're deliberating over cards sold out everywhere that you won't be able to get your hands on sub <$1000 pretty soon here.

I currently own #1 on your list. It's a great card and I'm satisfied with it but if I had to buy another I'd buy the evga simply because I wouldn't void the warranty by taking it apart.

Yes - that's definitely already on my mind. But I don't have to buy tomorrow. I can watch and wait a bit.
 
Yeah I know.

I'm very tempted - the MSI Trio is available for order now. And it has a pretty nice sound profile.

Although EVGA's step-up program would bring me a great deal of assurance. (Well 90 days isn't all that long, but it is possible something new gets released in the March-April timeframe)
 
I picked up the Trio from NewEgg.

Just too tempting as it is apparently reallly quiet under load.

And it's one of the few cards available. If a high end EVGA was available I would have went that way - at the cost of some noise. But the trade-up and good warranty would have made it worth it.
