Not too sure if anyone's interested, but I can look into making it a sticky if y'all like? Personally I'm really interested in seeing just what everyone's running Linux on - Not just screenshot's of the desktop, as we've already got a thread related to that, but a thread on actual 'desktops' and machines used.

Here's my setup to get things going:

Actual desktop. i-rocks keyboard and Logitech mouse of some description that went nuclear on me once due to some dodgy lithium batteries but has a scroll wheel that I love as it's like a flywheel and whizzes up and down sooo smoothly.

Also dual 1080p Acer monitors that have served me well for many years now.

The machine itself. A Dell T5500 with SSD for the OS as well as 2 x 1TB drives for /home and /storage. 24GB of ram, X5675 processor and a GTX 670FTW that really needs to be replaced with something newer, but actually does a very impressive job for it's age.

Love this machine, it never gets turned off and has never once let me down, with all the performance I need and then some.

So c'mon, show us what you've got!

Case is one I bought in 2002 and custom built ever since.
The desk was something my wife bought for £10 and we up-cycled it (gaustly purple paint so sanded right back, waxed the top, painted the legs and wallpapered the draws)

I run linux on basically everything..., i do have a win 10 machine and a few with osx though. But mostly I just always use linux (servers, miners, laptops and desktops).

Here is my setup with lots of screens.

Look at all those screens!

Naib, I used to have that same case, abet heavily modified - I used it for years! The only reason I got rid of it in the end was because it just wasn't deep enough for all the new graphics cards.

not deep enough? I must have the larger version then because I don't have that issue.

Neat setup. May i ask what make and model that chair is, been looking around for something similar. Is it any good for a few hours usage ?
It's called Sleekform M2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0722T43CF

I liked it a lot at first, but it's not that great as an all day chair. It does help with back pain and posture, but it also puts a lot of weight on your knee/shin area and the seat cushion could be more comfortable.

Overall, I think it's less comfortable than a normal computer chair, but if you only sit for short periods of time maybe it may be OK. For me, I'm at the computer all day and all night, and it wasn't a good fit.

I have it now as a second chair, but the one I'm using primarily is a Tempur-Pedic TP9000, which is on sale for $200 at Staples (I paid $300 and it was well worth it): https://www.staples.com/tempur-pedic-tp9000-ergonomic-mesh-mid-back-task-chair/product_SS1060481

Yea, reading reviews that seems to be the case that you need two chairs and to use it to reduce strain not as a replacement for a traditional chair.

I have a normal chair, it's one of those 'gaming' chairs so it looks ergonomic at least. A traditional ventilated ergo chair is probably a safer bet.

Thanks (y)

My back's stuffed as a result of two car accidents (not my fault). I love your setup, but interested how that chair goes in relation to back pain as my back's stuffed - Currently running a chair supplied by my transport accident insurance that's pretty good.

Well, I don't have any serious back injury, but I do get fatigued from sitting all day. Mostly my lower back and my neck area. I tried the knelling chair for about 2 weeks, and I do think there was some improvement. Not a night and day difference, but it was noticeable. I think the thing is, you can sit properly in a normal chair and be fine, but it is too easy to sit wrong. I find often with regular chairs I will slouch, or lean to one side on the arm rests, etc. and this is what messes up my posture. So the knelling chair sort of forces you to sit right, as you can't lean on anything. I'm not sure how well it will work for you, but they are not that expensive so it may be worth a shot.

*snip*

This is my workstation. Trying to use Ubuntu as much as I can, but I dual boot into Windows 10 for VR.

Nice setup, and nice wiiiiiiiiiiidddddddeeeeeeeeeeee wallpaper. I always wanted to get into playing Mirror's Edge and then the sequel too but I just never did, kinda regret it nowadays. Love the concept of the game, even got it free (the original) on Steam as a gift and still I've never put any time into it, guess I never will. :D

I replayed the original Mirror's Edge in 4K recently, and it holds up. It's not a long game, so worth going back and checking out. The new one was also really cool.

I agree Cybereality.

Awesome setup my friend!

I'm really curious about that chair, but in the name of safety I think I'll stick to the chair designed for me. I don't know whether anyone's experienced nerve pain as a result of a back injury, but the fear of experiencing it always wins in the end, it's that bad.
