How do you do, fellow kids? FCC Chairman Ajit Pai is whipping out the memes in a last-minute effort to stir up support for his much-maligned repeal of net neutrality. Pai stars in a bizarre video released that features the former Verizon lawyer waving fidget spinners and lightsabers as he argues that his plan is totally cool, dude. Thanks mullet.

And this my friends is what they mean when they say "everyone has a price".

"Since we're giving you tons of money, go act like the dancing monkey you are on video"
"Caaan doo!"

As a people, what have we done wrong to deserve such shit from our elected/appointed officials.

By electing bullies and idiots.

Pai is a classic bully. He thinks he knows better, and people susceptible to suggestion will follow him unquestioningly. He will make fun of people who question him, to keep the followers in-line, and will pave over any discontent with lies.

People didn't like our previous level-headed President, so they elected a showman bully. You reap what you sow.

...until your ISP notices you passed your bandwidth threshold. Excess bandwidth fee incoming !

"You can still post photos of cute animals"
Provided you are up to date with pre verification of DMCA content and your upload fee

"You can still shop for Christmas presents online"
Provided you do not disable the ISP's targeted advertisements and tracking

"You can still binge watch your shows"
provided they come from 'affiliates', otherwise expect throttling or 'this content cannot be played in your area'

"you can still still stay part of your fave fandom"
as long your ISP does not object and block it.

Where is the pro Ajit [H] crowd? This is the only tech site on the net that isn't for net neutrality.

I don't think anyone likes that guy. Some of us have been anti-NN from the start simply because of the power it gives the government. I am in agreement with the principle of net neutrality but not the execution of it, I would prefer the government to stay the hell out because they screw up literally everything they touch. If the feds absolutely had to get involved I would prefer they go after the de-facto monopolies the ISP's have over customers first.

Appears to be mentally unstable and trying to justify his behavior in his own mind. Mostly likely (hopefully) suicide by age 50.

Good thing we're in current year 2017, where if we don't like someone we hope they get murdered or kill themselves. Its actually kind of disgusting seeing people post this crap on [H] to be honest.

Our forefathers created a new government that is the best in the world and the citizens have allowed the corrupt to take from the people and give it to the corporations. As long as there are R's and D's in office, nothing will change.
Country before party!

Net neutrality protesters deserve to be mocked. Net neutrality came into being when, in 2015?

I can honestly say I have not noticed a damn difference in the internet prior to 2015 nor after. So what the hell is the deal?

Idiot protesters need to wake up and realize that all that is changing is who is paying for things. With the supposed net-neutrality, the taxpayers footed the bill. Without it, the burden will be on the ISP companies. And for all the talk of rising prices, one they do that anyway, and two we didn't see anything extremely horrifica before net neutrality went into effect in 2015.

Those are facts. If someone wants to come at me with an emotional argument, then fuck your emotions.

I agree...the party system is cancerous. Why not just let people run on their own merit and not what corrupt party they have aligned themselves with. (Yes both Democrats and Republicans are corrupt and you are kidding yourselves if you think otherwise.)

I honestly can't believe you guys are all still thinking this way.

If it goes the way he says it will, and there are more than enough others saying this same thing;

The FCC is voting right now, at this moment, to reclassify the Internet as Title I, and roll back some of the rules, not all of them, for instance they are keeping most of the transparency rules.

Then the 9th Circuit is going to rehear the FTC vs AT&T case and the appeals court is going to reverse the prior court decision because now Section 5 will no longer apply and AT&T will lose Common Carrier protections and all those people that AT&T fucked by throttling their unlimited broadband connections will get some money back. The FTC will get their teeth back.

I swear, you guys know that the media lies to you. You know it, but you still listen to what they try and sell you even when actual events to the contrary suggest that you should take a harder look.

What was it about the courts no longer allowing the FTC to help those people, and the FCC not being able to, and AT&T getting away with just fucking them, that makes you guys think that what the FCC did in the name of NN was turning out to be a good thing?

Pai is in the telecoms pockets but the media isn't? This is what I find amazing.

There, I said it. If it plays out wrong I'll be eating crow later (y)

EDITED: OH, on a side note, I don't think the video was in good taste just like I think the President needs to stay the fuck off Twitter. I'm just old fashioned that way, this bullshit is the wrong vehicle for government officials to use when communicating with the country.

Oh I'm for Net Neutrality, or at least I'm for the spirit of what NN is supposed to be. I just never bought in to the FCC's attempt to seize regulatory powers it was never granted by Congress, (BTW the courts agreed), and I think Pai is actually working in our best interests on this and that things are going the way they should.

But I also don't think this video was a smart move at all. Of course I don't have a hundred thousand people calling me a shill and a corrupt asshole and wishing someone would kill me ..... at least not since the last time I bashed on Snowden and told people the media was lying to them etc..... :notworthy:

Ah the old it didn't affect me so everyone else must be full of shit justification. Well Zion I'm glad you are lucky enough to live in an area where prior to 2015 your ISP wasn't actively trying to fuck you over.

These videos are the very reason Ajit Pai needs to step down.

When you are in upper level politics you HAVE to address concerns in a serious manner. These videos are arrogant and it shows he has complete and total lack of empathy for millions who are concerned about the future of the internet. Belittling others concerns is a means of asserting self superiority.

I wonder where he would sit on a meglomaniac/NPD scale with a proper DSM5/ICD10 diagnosis.

Persons with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) are characterized by their persistent grandiosity, excessive need for admiration, and a personal disdain for, and lack of empathy for other people.[7][8] As such, the person with NPD usually displays the behaviors of arrogance, a sense of superiority, and actively seeks to establish abusive power and control over other people.[9] Narcissistic personality disorder is a condition different from self-confidence (a strong sense of self); people with NPD typically value themselves over other persons to the extent that they openly disregard the feelings and wishes of others, and expect to be treated as superior, regardless of their actual status or achievements.[7][10] Moreover, the person with narcissistic personality disorder usually exhibits a fragile ego (Self-concept), an inability to tolerate criticism, and a tendency to belittle others in order to validate their own superiority.[10]

These videos demonstrate these traits. But it would take a formal clinical analysis to be sure.

Looks like the description of an alpha male. Sure seem to have fired up the tears in here. Maybe use some to put out the fires in California

The net neutrality bill was meant to codify the 'play fair' rules that everyone just agreed to.

Do you not remember when Comcast tried to decide who got what content at what speeds and decided to shakedown Netflix to get more money?

https://consumerist.com/2014/02/23/netflix-agrees-to-pay-comcast-to-end-slowdown/

It's like the suddenly realized this 'Internets' thing was here to stay and they were not future-proofed or even slightly prepared for the demand.

I deserve to mock you then too. Only fair.

You make plenty of claims of no difference. But you are one individual. This is what we call a anecdotal evidence, and not a professional scientific measure. There are plenty of examples of abuse prior to this.

@Icpiper Sure the government screws up a lot and isn't perfect. But many things are good national forest service. If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't have national parks or wildlife. Somethings need to be regulated or the corporate machine will do anything and everything in their power to make money.
