Just moved into a new home that we are going to be in for a long time, and I'm going to be plumbing some ethernet. Looking for recommendations on a good switch. Will be used for normal networking of PCs and my home server, and POE IP cameras. A 24 port should more than cover me.

Needs:
All ports GBE
All ports POE

Doesn't need:
SFP ports
Fancy uplink ports

Nice to haves:
Good UI
Drive attachment for media or camera storage
software/UI for the media or camera storage

Check out Ubiquiti. I got a 24 port for around 300 bucks, run IP cameras, APs, and about 15 drops. Sits in the garage, which can get hot as hell and still runs strong!

Well I don't think you're going to find anything much cheaper than the $300 switch you linked. (It's an old switch, otherwise the new equivalent of that is easily over a grand) POE costs serious money, and if you really don't have a lot of POE devices you might be better off getting a separate switch dedicated to POE and using a smaller switch. You can buy an 8 port POE switch and a 16 port switch for less money than a 24 port POE switch. (Probably not something you want but making the suggestion anyway) The other thing to keep in mind is that not all POE switches are created equal. While all of the ports can be used as POE, there is a limit to the total power draw the appliance can support. Several vendors will make 2 different models of the same switch, one with a larger power supply than the other. There is also POE+, so if you have larger PTZ cameras or some of the more exotic toys, it might be a consideration. (Probably not in your case) A couple more points, you didn't say if you need management, but POE kind of implies that, and I'm not sure if you can get a 24 port POE switch that won't do VLANs.

This is only 10/100 on the PoE ports. The only gigabit ports are the uplinks.

Are you sure about that? The web site says they're 10/100/1000 ports and there are 24 of them. It says the uplink ports are 10GBE ports. Even Cisco's web site confirms that.

I second Unfi stuff. If you stay with them from APs, Switch, Router, Camera etc everything is nicely integrated :)

Thirded. Their switches are reasonably priced for what you get, and you get a crap load. Not to mention that if you stick with unifi gear it all integrates nicely.

The management interface ( unifi controller ) really puts it over the top for me.

Fourthed (is that a word?). Just got a basically new unifi 24 port 500w poe on ebay for cheap. While I have a pf sense box for my main ips, the lab setup, all of my switches, and my aps are unifi, so it is a snap to do deployment / review logs / etc.

I'd get a Cisco small business switch, like the SG200 or SG300 if you want routing.

Drive attachment for media or camera storage
software/UI for the media or camera storage
Drive attachment? Perhaps you're thinking of one of those all-in-one-Linksys-router-firewalls-with-usb-NAS-kitchen-sink things.
