Recommend me a AM4 cooler pls

I have been using a coolermaster 120 AIO cooler since I built my Ryzen pc back in early 2017, now the cooler I'm afraid is starting to take on air as it is starting to gurgle when operating when it was completely silent just a month ago.

So this is me being proactive and getting a replacement ordered and i was on newegg.ca and found there is a lot of options now for AM4 cooling but i don't know what to get, there is some cheap coolers that look good but i don't want to get something sub par and I still have overclocking head room i have yet to touch on this chip so I would like something that can cool a hot R7 CPU and remain mostly quite and i also would like to get a cooler that comes with the AM4 bracket too.

Well were on the topic I lost my tube of gelid gc extreme and now i have to buy more so i was wondering if any one had any suggestions on TIM otherwise I'm just going to get gelid again

PS lets avoid LED and RGB LED fans if possible, i don't care for them

EDIT: forgot to mention i don't want a AIO again either only want air cooling, less can go wrong that way
 
I'd get a coolermaster hyper 212 and the free AM4 adapter kit and call it a day
 
ya I was looking at the hyper 212, besides from the fact i would have to get coolermaster to send a AM4 kit is the 212 alittle on the light side, I have a 212 clone made for LGA 775 and i have it on a quardcore duo Q9550 @3.63GHz and it struggles to keep the hotest core under 75oC under full load (the fans make a fair bit of noise), so i dont want the same thing to happen with my main rig when i have my 1700 pinned to 4GHz, i need/want something with a real good cooling potential that can stay mostly quite under heavy load i just dont think the old hyper 212 is quite up for the task.

BTW i am looking at the coolermaster hyper 612, it's has 2 extra heat pipes and a way beefier heat sink, not sure if that one comes with AM4 kit or not, if I could get a kit for my coolermaster v10 i would use that, man i love the big ugly v10 cooler, the coolest air cooler i have ever owned, to bad it is fricken huge probably why it is not very popular.

Anyway let me know if you guys can think of any other cooler that might fit what im looking for, also let me know if my worries about the 212 are unfounded or not.

ok I have done some reading of reviews and made up my mind, i was set on the hyper 612 but it did not come with a AM4 kit and i did not want the hassle of getting one separately so i found this Red LED Hyper 212 and it seems it comes with the kit according to the reviews so im going to get that and a Noctua NF-F12 to replace the red LED fan, should be of higher quality then the fan it comes with anyway

EDIT: looked at the base of the 212 LED vs the Evo and the Evo is suprearior so i caved and got that instead, had to get a bracket from cooler master that cost me almost 10$ CAN for the shipping, will be some what upset if i get a bracket with the 212 evo as one reviewer said, but he was the only one so i did't want to risk waiting if it was not included.

the noctua is "higher quality" but it is ~10cfm lower that the stock fan. I'd look for something that is equal or better than 66cfm. at stock the 212 will give you about the same performance as the 120 aio(I've had both).

edit: NF-S12A is close at ~64cfm

That Thermalright would be a good choice. The Cooler Master is pretty solid as well. I had one for a while and even used it with an old FX 8150 and it could handle a lot more overclocking on that heat generating monster than I thought it would. Ryzen doesn't put off near as much heat as the previous generation so you don't need a super high end cooler even if you're overclocking. My H110i is nearly overkill for my 1600x. During OCCT at 4.0 GHz, my chip never gets above 62C and the fans never spin up that high. I bet a Hyper 212 would be enough to keep it cool.

If you do decide on the Cooler Master, check on Newegg as there might be some AM4 adapters available there for a few bucks, I know they do for Noctua coolers. I know CM will send you one for free but I'd personally rather spend ~$6 to have one shipped with the cooler when I bought it. I doubt CM would get in any hurry getting one to you.
 
Not sure if you purchased already but the Themis Evo by Raijintek is amazing for the price.

I think your concerns are quite founded. Fact is, Evo 212 is a great cheap cooler but at the end of the day it's limited by its 4 heat pipes.

Your setup isn't taxing the fan setup, your setup is taxing how much heat can be effectively transferred off of the CPU into the fins.

Most 6 heatpipe designs perform fairly similar, regardless of whether they're 2 tower or 1 tower designs.
To put this into perspective my Noctua DH-15 (with 140+120mm fan setup @ 900RPM). At stock will hold the processor at about 50C under load, with a 25C ambient. I know from experience that 3.7ghz @ 1.3V will instantly increase my load temperatures by close to 20C.

Not saying get Noctua, just saying don't get a 4 pipe configuration (or less) if you're already unsatisfied with that level of performance.

And today is the first day the bracket's back in stock. That said, when you add the $7 for shipping it, might be worth looking at some of the other slightly-more-expensive offerings. (since you're going for budget winner if you're talking 212)

The FUMU isn't far off $$-wise when you're adding in the am4 bracket, too. Definitely a beefier cooler.
 
I see you guys saying that the 212 comes with a free AM4 adapter kit? Do you have to request that somehow or ?

Also looking for a cheap Ryzen cooler (not planning to overclock, at least not much).

212 does come with a free adapter (go to Cooler Master's website to get it), BUT it costs an additional $7 for shipping it. It's not in the same package as the 212 you order from Newegg/Amazon/etc.

Which makes it less of a value proposition.
 
thanks for all the cooler advice so far, i did end up getting the 212 Evo, i did want to get more then a 4 heat pipe design but the only option i could find at a reasonable cost was the Hyper 612 and every AM4 review warned against it because of the AM4 mounting kit it came with was hit or miss depending on the MOBD and other factors, as for the Thermalright True Spirit 140 Power, it was recommended unfortunately after i purchased the 212 evo but i notice the price for it on amazon.ca is ~200% that of the amazon.com price so i doubt i would have gotten it :(

hopefully the Hyper 212 Evo will be more then adequate for my needs, i hope to get around to doing a 24/7 ~3.9ish GHz overclock some time down the road but with that said 3.83GHz is pretty good too.


PS the Hyper 212 Evo now comes with the AM4 kit in the box so i guess i didn't need to spend money on ordering a kit for cooler master, unfortunately newegg did not mention this and still directs you to get a kit from cooler master, well better safe then sorry i guess
