Degauss it... or see about taking apart the backing and inspect for loose or badly connected cables.

Could be the videocard so test that in what ever way you are able.

I tried a HDMI cable instead of the display port cable same problem.

well you diagnosed the problem as being in the monitor, monitors do die, their internal components can fry. I might take it apart look at the board and see if anything is disconnected, any caps are blown etc.

It is 1 day old.

Panel is toasted, that's what the tech said when he replaced my panel.

That's probably a bad inverter inside the monitor. They will show image defects like that when the inverter overheats. There is nothing you can do about that. It's defective and needs to be replaced.

Thanks!

The problem is Amazon doesn't have any anymore. :( It is a ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27" last time I looked it said they would have more in stock on December 8th. Though I doubt that will happen.

I don't know what to do. Return monitor and get a full refund or send to Asus for repair ? Hmmm.

Same thing happened to one of my LG Ultrawides. Almost the same place as yours on the left side. I completely disassembled it and checked every cable, cap, and connection hoping for a simple fix, but it was not to be.

However, it did make for a nice test case of how hard I could hit it on the back before pixels started dying. Turns out, pretty damn hard.

Interesting.

Again, that won't work because the issue is most likely with the inverter. That's how they behave when they overheat. The reason they overheat is due to the monitor being operated outside of rated environmental temperature ranges or because the inverter itself is defective. Something is out of spec on it causing these issues. Once those issues start to appear, they always come back at some point.

check best buy and microcenter, refund the monitor to amazon, and hopefully you can get a replacement in a store, cause that way if it happens again you can just go to the store and return it. It is better since its only a day old to deal with "Returning the purchase" than "warrantying the device" through the manufacturer.

It is amazing that just because I bought the monitor it is going in back order or out of stock everywhere. Glad I didn't say anything about it until I bought it! :)
