XBOX ONE X folks, check in here!

Halo 5 is GEORGE-ASS on a C7 LG OLED....really is a treat to play 4k 60hz Halo 5 multiplayer in OLED glory...hopefully it gets some HDR lovin!

I'm very impressed with the machine...have not enjoyed a console this much since the OG Xbone Launch circa 2001

The PC version launched this summer it was populated I played on some of the weirdest modded Halo 5 maps I ever seen. You have never seen such off the wall maps like they made in Halo Forge.

I think I am Xboxing wrong.

I went to see if I could find a cheaper than Xbox store copy of Forza 7 and walked out with a copy of Red Dead Redemption GoTY.

Loving it though.

I'm curious how that runs on the X. I know they haven't patched resolution or anything, but load times, FPS etc would be interesting to see. Can you still buy that game digitally to download/play it on One or do you have to have the physical copy?

Found a disappointment: Ghost Recon Wildlands. Feels like performance has suffered with the update for X. Colors are nice though. But framerate is too much (shitty) for me on 4K.

Diablo looks gorgeous and runs well.

Anyway, Synchronos is my gamer tag. Feel free to add.

I do not have a basis of comparison, as I had never seen RDR played live, outside of YouTube videos.

It is clearly locked at 30fps, but it runs very smooth, with no hitches or apparent frame drops.

The load times do not seem excessive, maybe 10-15 seconds? I'd need to pull out a stopwatch to get an accurate number, however, so far there has not been a loading screen where I thought it was very long, or started to question whether or not the game had locked up.

The Xbox One X seems to applying supersampling as there is very little aliasing occurring. Outside of the clearly outdated graphics, it looks and runs very well.

Ok forza 7 is the single worst game I have played on the xbox one since launch. Start the single player to long unskippable videos that then drop right into the race so you can't walk away from them. You also can't pause them and if you have to quit one of the races to restart you have to watch it again. I just want to play the fucking game, I don't care about whatever bullshit story it is trying to push, it is a racing game. Don't like the view that it chooses? Fuck you it will not let you change it. I mean really wtf?

I've played I think two of the other forza's on the system and both are far better than this worthless shit.

Yup, when I saw that 44% of the reviews on Amazon were 1 star, I decided that I would avoid Forza 7.

All Forza games have an introduction race/s. But they don't lock you out of changing the camera, that's tied to a button.

That's because of fanboys complaining about microtransactions/loot card packs. But they have had similar since Forza 5, and you don't have to buy them. Do you really think any major AAA release game is deserving of a 1/5 rating?

Hmm... Does Postal 3 count as AAA? Some around here may still say Rage. And then there's Daikatana. Anyhow, the F7 rating was enough to cause me to pass it over at least until a price drop.

No idea about postal 3, but even Rage certainly also was not deserving of a 1 rating. My point was when people rate something a 1 it's because of a bias or crap reason. The internet thinks everything is a 1 or a 10 with nothing in between. Was a silly reason to pass on something.

As someone who has bought every Forza day one, I have yet to get forza 7, but not because of pointless user reviews. As a racing game goes it's certainly better than every other forza (Motorsport) title, but I'm simply tired out of them now. Will pick it up on black Friday for cheaper because I know I won't sink 100+ hours in like I did the rest.

Is there something I need to do to get the 4K "updates" to install? Transferred several games over from an xbox one and I keep expecting some pop up asking me if I want to update them for 4K.

The third batman arkham game. WB even came out and said fuck you, we are going to focus on dlc and not fix the game bugs.

Wasn't one of the assassins creed games really broken at launch? Maybe that one too although I never played it. I really hated metal gear solid 5. I'd give that a 1, maybe a 2 out of 10. Same with just cause as it was broken as hell for me. Multiple restarts of missions because it didn't think I destroyed everything I needed too even though everything was destroyed. It was game breaking and made the main story unplayable.

Mirrors edge 2 is a really bad game as well which sucked as the first game was really good. I'd say it is a 2 out of 10 though.

There are a lot of games I wouldn't review because I just didn't like them although I could see where others would. Dragon Age inquisition is a game where I can see it is probability good although I couldn't get into it at all.

They need to make an XBOX One X Slim (or whatever name) that doesn't include a blu-ray player or any kind of disc drive so they can sell them cheaper. digital download is the only way to go in my opinion.. I hate messing with discs.

Again none of those games would be deserving of a 1. They all have quality graphics, a coherent story, and various other qualities to them. For a game to be a 1 it literally has to do everything horribly. Otherwise it's anywhere in between 1-10. A game earning a 1 is even more rare than a game earning a 10 because 99% of the time no one is going to put the time in to a game and release it in a 1/10 position.

The worst game I've ever played is Albedo Eyes From Outerspace, and that's the closest I've ever seen a game be to a 1. It doesn't have a single redeeming quality. Graphics are so bad you can't tell what you are looking at, voice overs are horrible, controls horrible, story didnt make any sense, and it was less than an hour of content. And even still I would probably say it's a 2/10 because it was at least beatable.

If someone doesn't like something that's fine, but to rate something as complete trash because they can't view it from another perspective or is biased is wrong and why they shouldn't be reviewing in the first place. I can't stand JRPGs, but if I ever had to review one I would at least do so thinking of the views of someone who does.

In the settings there is a checkbox for keeping games up to date, and for 4k content. Also if you go to your games list, and sort by Xbox one x enhanced titles, when you launch one it will either launch, meaning it has the update, or say and update is available.

I disagree. Arkham Knight was so horribly broken that it was pulled from the market on the pc for a while. That is a 1/10 game. Even once they rigged it enough to kinda work(don't want to use the word fixed) it had game breaking bugs that WB decided were not worth fixing and that dlc was more important.

Just cause 1 was broken to the point I had to redo multiple early missions because it wouldn't let me finish them. Couldn't tell you if it got better, I gave up. I don't care how good a game works if it is broken that badly.

Another older game would be the superman for the n64. That game was full on crap. I haven't played it in a long time but I'm guessing if I did it would be something I'd consider a 1.

Postal 3 is one that I'm not sure would be considered an aaa game. It was pulled from the market for being so bad though. I remember seeing professional reviews give it a 1.

To me a 1 out of 10 game is terrible to the point it isn't worth trying. I also think a bad game that was way over promised and we were lied to about should be graded harder. I do understand your stance though. I'd argue that so many games getting a 9 or 10 review is just as much of a joke. Zelda for the switch? That is a 6 out of 10 to me. Slightly above average. It is a bad copy of a ubisoft open world game. I wouldn't given a gta 5 a 10 out of 10 as many did because it advertised the online play that just didn't show up for a while.

Another game that I'd consider a 1 out of 10 was the original battlefield game. I personally would give it that because not only was it broken to the point of being unplayble on I beleive amd systems(might have been intel but I had at the time the one it was broken on) but it took them like a month to fix it. Also they had the multiplayer test of it that ran perfect. The shipping game felt at least 6 months behind the beta and it had a big day one patch. You could actually go into the same map in the beta and it would run great. I honestly don't care that it was fixed a month later, I had given up on it after that. Unplayable on a level that felt like fraud as the beta worked near perfect. It would have been one thing if the beta/demo ran like crap or if it just didn't have one. The game they got me interested in was not what shipped.

I saw the 4K content check box on my old xbox but it's not there on the new one. TV is recognized as 4K. Didn't realize there is a sorting option. I'll try that.

Thanks.

I was playing through Return to Arkham before I got the Scorpio and wanted to finish out Arkham City. If you reload from a checkpoint the game bugs out and runs at 60 FPS. Normally, though, it runs at a solid 30 while the game had a hard time maintaining that on the regular Xbone. Aside from that there is also supersampling or antialiasing being applied that wasn't there before, and it's obvious there is more anisotropic filtering being applied. Load times are also improved.

Just hooked mine up last night. The only game I have right now is Forza 7.

I've been playing my X on a standard LED HDTV, but over the weekend I hooked it up to a 65 inch Sony XBR65X900E, and wow was it awesome. Played Gears of War 4, Forza 7 (demo), Halo 5, The Rise of the Tomb Raider (demo), Titanfall 2, and they all looked amazing! Now I'm just looking forward to the Forza Horizon 3 Xbox One X update, and the Minecraft Super Duper Graphics Pack, while we wait for some of the new games like Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, etc.

Has anyone downloaded and ran the "Insects" 4K HDR demo? My monitor (UN78JU7500f) is HDR compatible but only has an 8 bit panel. I'm still noticing a marked difference toggling HDR mode.

I am really amazed at the difference toggling between 4k, HD, non-HDR and HDR settings.

I have not run the demo. Your TV still does 8-bit with dithering to 10-bit, so you should be able to select the 30-bit color space from the console settings and see an improvement. The JU also benefits from a full array backlight unlike the newer models that are only edge lit.

Been using X1X lately. I have the Halo 5 and GoW4 bundle and the 4k content is gorgeous. I have the X800D Sony XBR 43" and I feel like I need a bigger TV to enjoy more the eye the candy. Game On guys!. add me on Live for Co-op gameplay or just online gaming. Gamertag: Viciousburr1to

Found out if you set the settings to 10 bit, it will do 4:2:0 when playing non HDR (and HDR) content due to HDMI 2 bandwidth limitation. But if you leave it on 8 bit it will do 4:4:4 unless HDR is detected, at which point it will automatically switch itself to 10 bit 4:2:0. So best to just leave it on 8 bit even if you have a 10 bit TV.

Is anyone noticing a bit of stuttering when using the dashboard? Sometimes when using the dpad in the games and apps list, my movements get stuck and nothing happens, then it carries out what I pressed on the dpad 2 seconds later. Maybe 2 or 3 dpad clicks. Then just cycling through the menu, it'll just pause as if it's getting stuck. Then it will move on speeding up through the button clicks I just did. Sometimes it's butter smooth but it's still clunky like on my original xb1. Anyone else seeing this? The games and apps list is a bit slow at listing the icons, just have to wait sometimes to draw them up. Hope I'm not the only one.

Are you using the same external hard drive that you used on your XBox One original?

No I am not. Using a 7200 rpm external. Thing is, there are posts over on the xbox forums and reddit with a few users having the same problem. This is just the xb1x and 7200rpm drive, still the same issues. Hopefully they find something. When I unplug my cat6 cable, the system flies like butter. IMO, like it should. Wondering if the NIC in it is wonky.

Edit: Long pressing the xbox button on the console (8 to 10 seconds) and then booting it back up, seems to clear the issue for a short time. Then it starts to slow up again after a bit of using it. Not sure what could be causing that. Still under the Game Stop return policy window. Not sure if I should wait or just return it for a replacement console.

It's just a software issue, not the console. All three of mine (regular, S, X) and my friends so that. Especially when you have a lot of games. I have around 600 digital games, with about 100 installed, and my games and apps is really slow when it's trying to find all my licenses and updates for all the games.

Noticed the same thing, but it also happens on the original and S, so I'm going to say it's a software issue. It's more like if you don't press anything for 10 seconds the "window" goes out of focus, so you need to use an input to bring it back. I also noticed that trying to navigate backwards through the menus will often cause the UI to get stuck, forcing me to quit the app and restart it.

Got One X, and games look great. We'l, i al cured me of saving money for PC parts, because Forza on proper 55" HD 4K TV looks better than on pc. Also, playing on large TV with 4k and home cinema beats the 27" 1440p and headphones.

So yup, XOX becomes now primary gaming platform for me and PC gets relegated to playing some strategy games and older titles.

OH, and Halo 5 looks amazing. Especially on Sanghelion and that Forerunner world. Really can' wwait, what 343 will show up with Halo 6 having XOX capabilities aviable.

This. Games designed to leverage the console will likely be insane. I do hope they introduce some new IP, but I'm satisfied so far. If Halo 6's gameplay is great, that will be huge. Also, it appears GWG games are going enhanced, or favoring it, so that helps a lot too.

This is for any HDR TV?

Hooked up my One X to my new samsung UN82MU8000 TV running through a Marantz SR7011 avr. Everyone works fine, including Dolby Atmos. However, Xbox doesn’t recognize HDR10, even though the Marantz and the Samsung support it. Worth replacing the HDMI cable? Or am I missing something else? Don’t want to run hdmi straight to tv if I can avoid it.

Thanks

Try going directly to the TV with the cable just to see if that works. That'll at least help you narrow things down.
Somewhat related, I'm noticing that over time using Atmos slowly loses sync with television content. It's fine initially, but over the course of an hour or so, it'll end up being about 1/4 second off. That's just enough to be noticeable to pretty much anyone. Normal Dolby and PCM don't do that. I suppose it probably has something to do with the internal audio processing.
