Alienware AW3418DW - Ultrawide Monitor 500$ off

Better curve is 1900? That seems a really strong curve? I think that might be too strong? I'd probably prefer a 3000 curve.

I just noted befrugal has 10% off Dell today. If you don't have a befrugal account yet, this refer a friend link of mine can get you another $10 off on top of the today's 10% off deal.
https://www.befrugal.com/referral/?ref=SCTNAIE

And you can get use the free dell advantage program to get $75 off.

Potentially that's $825 if this monitor is your thing. Personally I'm holding out for HDR, and 38". (and OLED would be nice too -- if I could afford it).

How is that $825 ...as far as I see, you don't get any rewards until after purchase.

We'll it's discounted. It's not $825 out the proverbial door. It's cash back.

You'd get the Dell Advantage $75 off as Dell bonus rewards (money you have to spend at Dell's website). It's a big current promotion on their main page. You could use the Dell bucks to buy printer toner, a console game, a keyboard and mouse whatever Dell sells.

The Befrugal is in the form of cashback (check, or withdraw directly to your checking account or paypal) after the purchase has cleared.

Both would be legit, and both would discount the purchase price to about $825. You'd still pay the $1k up front though.

:( I would've impulse bought it for $825 straight up :(
might take another look above at my edit - I think I just inched the deal price down a bit more by using Discover card's links. (if you happen to have a Discover card).

Potentially $788 new shipped. That's right at 1/2 MSRP.

Thanks for the deal -- ordered it yesterday. Note that the price is now back to $1149; with the coupon code: ElevenEleven, you get 11% off, which brings back the base price to $1022.61.

YEP

OP is crazy too, I was gonna jump in on one cause its so cheap but you can't use both Discover & buy frugal as you need to click their links? and the Dell store credit doesn't count as "money off" lol.

currently it looks like-

$1149.00
11% off=$1022

with tax =$1103.76- less Discover 5% cash back= $1048 + $66 Dell store credit 6%? unless I am missing something ....?

I was wondering the same thing, but back when this was posted, it was only $1000, not $1,149

Doesn't matter, the current Dell code gives you 11% off with eleveneleven = $1022 selling price(which is only $22 higher) , I have no clue where the OP got his numbers from lol

Starting at $1000, with 10% off BeFrugal, it would be $900, with the Dell Advantage, he would get $75 back in points. Brings it to $825.

If you factor in what else he is doing, it does indeed bring it to $788.

Mine got delayed to ship today through Wednesday instead of shipping last week like it should have.

However, I've experienced the delay song and dance through Dell before. Twice in the last year in fact. Once for a trio of 1080TI's I bought at a great price, and once for a pair of 24" monitors on a dual stand I found at a good price.

At this point, I'll be surprised if it actually ships at all - based on the never ending "delay" on my previous open orders.

It seems if Dell sells something at too good of a deal, they just delay the order, indefinitely.

We'll see.

In a similar boat; I ordered mine last Tuesday, and supposedly it's arriving sometime today through Wednesday -- but I don't see any tracking numbers.
I wish Dell was more transparent about this process (a simple "sorry, we're backordered, and will have your monitor out in 2-3 weeks" would be much better).

Update: just talked to Dell Customer Support via online chat and was told that there was a flood of orders for the Alienware AW3418DW monitor, so my revised delivery date is Nov. 21st. Dell also said that they would give me an update on the 16th; they hope to ship it out sooner than the 11/21 date.

Yeah seems the same for me. My original EDD date was the 14th. Now pushed back to

Estimated Delivery Date: 11/15/2017 - 11/16/2017

Just got an update -- Dell shipped it a few hours earlier via FedEx Express (and the tracking number says it's in transit), so I think I stand a good chance of getting it on Friday or Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

$500 off again so $1k.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear they let you stack any additional coupon codes, but this is still cheaper then it was a few days ago.

Ebates is offering 10% cash back on Dell right now, so a nice $100 or so in your pocket a few months down the line is a nice way to go (when I ordered the monitor, it was at a mere 2%).

BeFrual's back at 10% off on Dell today too.

It's annoying that they are still selling these monitors knowing that they are out of stock.

To be fair, in the light of all the interest, they probably placed big orders from their suppliers in China, and are getting 'em shipped into their warehouses ASAP.
Dell probably wasn't expecting the level of demand that they got (after all, even a huge drop from $1500 to $1000 still means a grand on a "mere" monitor, and that's a lot more cash than many computer enthusiasts would usually put down).
For myself, I'm just glad that the monitor has already left Dell's warehouse in TN, and my current shipping due date is Friday (FedEx usually gets to me earlier than UPS, so I'm hoping to see it in the early afternoon).

The $1k price is really tempting but I honestly can't make myself do it knowing that HDR panels will finally be here a year from now. I've already got the 27'' 144hz Dell panel - HDR is really what I want.

Same boat.

Same boat.
HDR doesn't do jack, unless they can get the dark contrast down. I don't need or even desire to have my monitor get any brighter than it is now.
What tech are they going to release that makes the black blacker (to be released in the next six months?)-- and when/if they have it - are you going to be able to afford it.

Honestly - I was in the exact same boat too -- planning to wait.

I caved because A) it's probably a year away or more to get the 38" ultrawide monitor I'd really like with G-Sync. and B) at $800 range I paid for this monitor, I can probably sell it in a years time and not loose too much, and C) I'm worried next gen stuff will start at like $1500 (maybe $1800) for the same 38" size and I know I'm going to balk a bit at that price. I had just about talked myself into buying that 38" ultrawide, but it's freesync, and I'm displeased with AMD Vega at current.

Worst case - if I don't like this monitor compared to the three HP Omen 32" I have now, I can' probably resell it and break even on ebay for the next 3-6 months. That cashback site 10%, dell advantage $105, and discover card 5% broke my resolve to wait.

Just got my monitor in. So to enable G-Sync is there anything I have to do? Also should I use Displayport or HDMI for that?

My TV is a true 10-bit HDR panel.. It's worth it.. Unfortunately TV's only accept an input of 60hz even though they internally can do more, so I want a true 100+hz monitor with HDR.

there's a lot to that expectation - though yes - I think 10 bit is valuable as I can tell the difference between 10 bit and 8 bit on my HP Omen 32 and AMD or Nvidia cards without HDR.

1) The big if with the HDR is you gotta have HDR content to even use HDR (or Dolby Vision). When will mainstream games even support HDR content? None of the old games do. I'm not aware of any game on the market that currently does. So it's at said point going forward.

2) this is unique to your viewing situation - you may not need 1000 nits of brightness for your viewing. My gaming station is in a finished basement home theater room with no windows, and black walls and ceiling. I certainly don't want 1000 nits of brightness or I'll be seeing stars and uncomfortable. I turn my current 300 nit monitors down to about 20% brightness and it's fully sufficient! I hope with HDR there's a max ceiling brightness you can set - so it isn't used irresponsibly and become downright painful and irritating. IE lots of games flash to white regularly. Think about flash bangs, or even loading screens like Star Wars Battlefront. That loading screen hurts my eyes now without HDR.

I'd be fine with a 10-bit panel without HDR - Unfortunately there just aren't any high refresh rate 10-bit panels on the market for some reason. It's like 10-bit was completely skipped for the more gaming oriented panels and we have to wait for HDR. I don't particularly care much about HDR - It's more about the fact that it brings a true 10-bit panel with it.

So can someone clarify on the Discover discount?

Is it less than the Ebates/BeFrugal cashback and doesn't stack?

Does anyone know if any of these stack with Dell's Military Discount?

No coupons stack with this monitor as the $500 off supercedes it. The only thing you can get is the generic MPP 5% automatic discount when you purchase the thing through the MPP version of their website.

Just got the monitor today, and it's quite fun, even if the screen real estate feels like downsizing from a (Mc)mansion to a small 2-bedroom condo (roughly 80% size differential from my 42" 4K TV). Small, but well-furnished (y)

I plan to buy an i1 Display Pro in the near future to calibrate the AW3418DW (my i1 Display 2 is getting far too long in the tooth), but, until then, I'm using TFTCentral's ICC profile:

I'd actually like to know more about this Discover discount as well....

Does the Discover one require you to click through their link? Or is just as long as you use a Discover card?

Just ordered mine. Excited. Supposedly coming by Friday. Replacing my now nearly a decade old Dell WFP3007-HC. Wonder if I should even bother trying to use it as a secondary monitor lol

Wow, that was such a nice monitor. I'd keep it around for a bit as you may miss the lack of vertical space after using an ultrawide. You could even set it up in portrait orientation and it would be awesome to use for reading/websites that have a lot of vertical scrolling.

Just got mine and its wide and compact. Everything is silky smooth in games. Overclock was easy and the graphics is the best I have ever seen. Battlefield 1 is beautiful. As long as you got the hardware to run it. I only got a Gigabtye 1070 but going to get me a 1080ti black Friday.
