muh eye strain - 17"+ IPS laptop recommendations?

I have an IT consulting business and in the past year I find I am on a laptop working on-site 50+ hours a week. My vision checks out ok but I am having a lot of trouble with eyestrain.

I am looking at 1080p 17"+ laptops with IPS screens. Software I regularly use does not support scaling, so 3k/4k seems pointless to me.

Battery life used to be important, but now I am plugged in 90% of the time. I do regularly use photoshop/illustrator but GPU performance does not seem to be an issue. The Intel integrated in my current Lenovo T560 is fine in this regard.

Reliability is a big concern. If I miss a day due to laptop downtime it is a problem.

What are my options?

Looking at the Lenovo P71 right now. Only downside for my application seems to be the 9 lb weight.
 
GOOD 17" are hard to come by. I'm sure you know all about the outlets to save you money. Sadly, the 4k screen seem to be the better gamut ones, and that's a big thing for me. I want it be more accurate for color, so the 1080p solutions are comparatively disappointing.

HP's Envy line has a 17" touchscreen that was an IPS 1080p panel. It wasn't too bad. and, Lenovo's Y700-17ISK was on sale last month, and it wasn't bad at all. I bought one for a friend of my uncle, and my former mother-in-law. Great speakers. The keyboard wasn't a Thinkpad by any means, but...for the price, it was hard to pass up. i7-6700HQ, 16GB DDR4, 128GB NVMe SSD+1TB 5400, 960M, 17" 1080p. I got my former M-I-L's for $680.
 
not sure how old you are, but I am suffering simiiliar issues.. If you are over 40, it certainly isn't going to get any better. You might want to think about an external monitor to scale that dpi so it is not so much of a strain.

get thumbscrews from eBay so you can transport the stand and the monitor separately.

If you want a reliable laptop then yes get a ThinkPad, with on site warranty. The T470 is nice.

Finally, you could consider a 14" and a PackedPixel (or two. I bought two.)

Ended up going with a Lenovo P71 17.3" due to the awesome prices offered via the google'able lenovo corporate perks code.

I also need a ton of storage space for upcoming jobs.

I currently have a 15.6" external monitor but the portable stand above for larger displays looks nice
 
Best 17" screen? Razer Blade Pro. Hands down this is the best laptop screen I've ever seen. It's a 4k touchscreen.
