PUBG Faces Possible Ban From China

Having sold over 15 million units with the most concurrent players on Steam, PlayerUknown's Battlegrounds is very unlikely to be up for sale in China. According to a Chinese watchdog group, the arena survival sports game is "too bloody" and "violent" and not healthy, mentally for the country's youth says the SAPPRFT (State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television), the office which controls all the content in China. Is cheating part of the socialist values as well?

Publishing Western games in China is notoriously difficult, especially violent ones, though it is not unheard of. In September, Valve was able to strike a deal with native publisher Perfect World to bring CounterStrike: Global Offensive to the region.
 
Yeah, it's true. When I go to work the next day after playing PUBG all night, I load my backpack up with as much Red Bull as possible in the fridge there and run around all day super fast.
 
If you want your game over here maybe we'll allow it if you strike a deal with a local company, hint hint.
 
There is no truth in this. Where the real truth lies is that China is a communist country and this is no more than a means to control and limit their population and to a larger degree the flow of that counties wealth. Everyone knows China hates it's population spending money outside the country. Also, China can and does control the flow of it's citizens wealth, great or small ( mostly small ) by limiting the avenues in which they can spend their money.

This is why Facebook is not allowed inside the "Great Firewall" which of course is word play on China's Great Wall. They built their own social media empire and reap those vast rewards themselves. Monetarily as well as spying / social control. In fact, next year China is introducing a social credit report on each of it's billion plus citizens. So if you are a bad person with a few arrests your will have a lower social score that will ( not could ) effect where you work and live, eat sleep and shit.

If you're not already, you guys need to stop and do some deep deep thinking for yourselves and get out the god damn box. I hope none of you are that shallow to ever believe gamers are bad people or that games influence people on a mass scale. A small percentage? Maybe, You know what people really are that play these games all day and all night and skip out on showers and work and other important shit? They're losers, simple as that. Not forever but for those weeks, months and god willing, not in terms of years. This is all about China just keeping the god damn money inside their own borders.

China even has different loot boxes than the rest of the world.

On a world stage pov mentality, mass appeal, culturally etc I think China could never really have a major motion picture market / music etc so at this point in time they are forced to allow some American movies in, music, etc.

In 2018 China is supposed to turn-off ALL VPN's. A lot of American businesses, world businesses are extremely worried right now. Even Youtube bloggers like SerpentZa.

There might be a slight social responsibility as well but I don't really think that's entirely what they are doing here.

It's more in that indigenous entries are about to come in and that the CPC is looking out for them. The CPC actually gets a mandatory director's seat in the big net corporations in China, believe it or not.
 
It won't be up for sale because they haven't ripped it off yet and created one exactly like it to maintain the profits within the country.

This isn't even a recent, Communist thing. This is basically the same global economic policy that China had implemented that resulted in the Opium wars. I just don't think the other world powers have as much a spine this time to stand up to the Chinese again.
 
From my experience gleaned from my East-Asian coworkers, the Chinese elites cannot stand Koreans, Japanese, Filipino, or Vietnamese. This has also been my experience from their personal conversations. Taking into account their shaky financial policies used to bolster their economy, devaluing of their currency- it’s as expected. If this game was developed by a Chinese company (e.g, Huawei and not apple, or Samsung) this would be a non-issue save for some weird censorship of the blood similar to Germany’s green blood bs.
 
PUBG isn't anymore violent than an old cowboy western. It's a spawn walk around explore the countryside game then get shot and repeat. I don't even remember seeing blood. But hey if it lowers the number of cheaters then yay! Also the game isn't for children so why would that be an angle for banning, lolwut.
 
Yet they have no problem with unregulated pollution and people dying from Smog.

Why would they do that when resellers sell to Chinese players so they can hack anyway? I long for the day when China blocks PUBG servers and/or BlueHole region locks the servers so all the Chinese hackers will have a lot more trouble spoiling everyone else's game.
 
I'm sure its just a coincidence that Tencent provided funding to Epic for PUBG's rival Fortnite.
 
I'm sure Trump will have a heart to heart with them, and get them set straight. They're bad dudes, but he's got some smart people working for him, very smart, volunteers, really, but they do a phenomenal job, amazing people. You know how he likes to follow through on all his promises, especially about trade. This is a done deal.
