My G9x has started to sometimes double-click when I left-click. It's sometimes quite annoying. I've had this mouse since I built this computer back in 2012 so it's been quite awhile. Overall, it is a good mouse but I initially thought it was quite small and thus uncomfortable. Then I got used to it.

Note that I love the DeathAdder's shape but found out Razer stuff is not very reliable. Is this true? The other mouse I am looking at is the G502 but don't know how its shape/grip compares to the G9x and DeathAdder. FPS games are the main priority.

If you're going to ask me what my grip is, it probably leans more towards a "palm grip."

Edit: I am also looking at the G403 wired version. Seems like it is the best replacement for the MX518 which I also liked a lot.

I use a SteelSeries Sensei Laser Gaming Mouse RAW - Rubberized Black, $48 on amazon. Works great with my 144hz display

Before that I was a diehard Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 guy since playing CS. I'm an FPS guy and play Overwatch now

I've been using a DeathAdder 3.5G for the last ~7 years, recently it started dying so I picked the DeathAdder Elite and i'm very happy with it.
but as I mentioned here I'm planing to try the Zowie EC2 or a similar one from Zowie some day. (yes because ravic & the eports guys use it)
 
I've had a hard time replacing my G9X. Nothing seems to be a worth while upgrade. I had to stop throwing money new mice.

Maybe try fixing it? There are a kits on eBay to replace the double clicking switch and fraying cord. Pretty cheap.

Have you tried the G502? I had a G9X and I loved it, but I think I'm even happier with my G502. Especially when paired with a Logitech G surface, I use the new G840, but I used the G640 before that, and it runs smooth as silk.
 
Coming from several various Logitech 5xx, I've had good luck with Corsair M65, and I would buy another one of those if I had to right now.

Razer has never failed to let me down every time I've given them a shot, so I'm leery of any of their products now. Some people swear by them though.

I didn't like it because of its grip. I use claw grip and this didn't feel right. I think it was too wide
 
Just ordered a G502 from Amazon. Price of mouse + shipping is cheaper than what the G502 sells for locally. At the worst case scenario, it will be the same as what it is selling for locally. Now gotta wait about a week or so.

If you're wondering why I picked the G502, I did a lot of research and it seems the G502 is a good replacement for the G9x. It is also more palm-grip friendly (which I prefer).
 
When my MX518 died I tried the Steelseries Rival 700 (I ordered a 300 and they sent me a 700). The shape wasn't bad but the 700 has vibration like a console controller. It made the mouse super heavy which required a tighter grip than I was used to so I didn't like it. The Rival 300 might have been perfect but after using the Rival 700 for a week there was a sale on the G403 so I ordered it. I love it, works great and felt very similar to MX510/518 I had been using forever.
 
Ran a G9X for years as well and finally had to replace it. Switched to a Corsair Glaive. Really liking it so far, has the dpi adjustment on the mouse like the G9x. Didn't take long to adjust.

I'll second the M65. I came from a G9 which I still have. I really like the M65 Pro RGB. Got one for a "present" for my desktop. Liked it so much that I purchased a second one for my laptop.

Super easy to change over from a G9/G9x to an M65.
 
Is it worth it to install the software for the G502? Or can I run it without the software?

I use the software, but I have everything Logitech - mouse, headset, keyboard, webcam and surface. The software for me allows me to do quite a bit of customization on a per game basis. If the mouse is your only Logitech product, you might be able to get away without it.

Is there anything useful in the software that I might need with the G502? Referring to things such as the surface tuning. Can I tune the mouse to the surface and uninstall the software or will I need to keep the software installed to maintain the surface tuning?
 
I leave the software open all the time now. In the past I had created a special shortcut with an extra command to close the software, and set that to run at startup. It would start the software, load my custom settings, then close.
 
My G502 was delivered today. Geez, either the sensor on this thing is vastly superior to the G9x's or my G9x's sensor was starting to go bad. Mouse movement seems far more natural now but I remember my G9x's movement being similar to this a year or two ago and then it went to shit. No wonder I've been so noob-like in Battlefield 1. Played an hour or so of Battlefield 1 with the G502 and it was much better. Mouse movement felt much more accurate and natural.

I haven't installed the software for the G502 and just running it without anything. Seems fine. I wonder if the surface tuning aspect of the software really helps or not.
 
Does the software for the G502 also install its own Windows driver for the mouse or does it only let you control more aspects of the mouse?
 
G502 sucks if your hand starts to cramp up after using it I'm so done with modern cheap logitech mice I think they just make the mice good enough where you want something else down the road. I'm loving my Deathadder elite now have two more on order from cyber monday.
 
Logitech needs robust mice like the G9X and bring them back they would sell through the roof with updated sensors.

Take the mouse apart and re-bend the metal actuator. They often wear out over time.



Had this issue with a Roccat Kone mouse I was using.

If you're going to purchase a new one, I've had a good experience so far with My Razer Deathadder Chroma. It reminds me of the old MS Intellimouse.
 
The Sound BlasterX Siege M04. I know this mouse is not very popular amongst gamers but I've decided to try it and I'm surprised at how good it is. For the past five years, I've been using Razer mousses. Some broke after 6 months, others after a year. So I decided to go with a new company, and since I'm a big fan of the sound blaster headphones, I decided to try their new mouse model.

I've only been using it for 4 months, but until now it is pretty good. It is very similar to other high-end gaming mouses regarding options and functions, plus it didn't break yet compared to some other mouses ( I won't name the brand). Despite not being a popular brand in the mouse department, I recommend this mouse. Ordered a ZOWIE EC1-A to hopefully replace my G9X. Will report back
 
EC1-A came. Bought it "used, like new" from amazon warehouse. Looks like some F***Face put his old/heavily used mouse in the box and returned that. It's a huge mouse. But I have big hands. I really like the feel so far. I may buy it new if it turns into an alternative for my g9x.
 
FYI the EC2 series was recently released replacing the EC1 series. Shell is identical. Upgraded internals.

Thanks. Your right. I'm going to return the Zowie due to it being so used. Thinking I may pick up a Rival 310 or Deathadder Elite. Leaning towards the 310 tho.
 
My favorite mouse of all time was the G9x. There are some acceptable replacements that I have used over the years since.

1. Red Dragon Mammoth
2. Razer Mamba TE
3. Corsair Scimitar
4. Corsair Glaive
5. Razer Naga Hex v2
 
I think you will like the Rival mouse. I used to love my Logitech 518 and G5 mice. Rival have a similar enough shape you'll adapt quickly. I have tried Razer mice and didn't care for them. The new logitech mice IMO are too small for me. The 403 for instance. The G502 IMO is too heavy and bulky. I like big mice, but not just blobs of junk on there. At least that is how it felt to me. Logitech sensors are nice though. I can use the G303 but have to grip it much differently though, so in the end I go back to my Rival 310 and/or original Rival(300 called now).

I really like my Logitech G402 wired, on a hard pad.

I have a MX 518 that I should fix.
