Apparently Intel cherry picked the review samples for CoffeeLake.

Because performance matters. Intel parts can run at higher frequencies with higher performance, or lower frequencies with lower performance, and AMD parts are stuck on lower frequencies.

Performance matters, but if performance is produced at lower clocks and higher efficiency then it is still performance

Okay, and? We're talking a handful of watts here for desktop enthusiast parts. Not exactly earth-shattering. This isn't Vega vs. 1080Ti, lol.

Well 30-50W mattered when it's AMD GPUs. Now it's Intel no one gives a fuck. Funny how that works eh?

Don't know how Vega/Pascal comes into this, but in terms of consumption, as before the idea of dropping node size is to reduce power and efficiency, since all intel mainstream chips are mobility chips with higher clocks, it seems that power will mater more in terms of heat output, if less resources have higher consumption, it is problematic.

which is why again AMD produce good results at low frequency, this is Sandybridge like in that Sandy needed only low clocks to produce a lot of performance per watt

I mean, only if you completely ignore the relationship, i.e. Intel is giving you more performance for more power usage, performance you cannot get with AMD regardless of power usage, while AMD is giving you less performance for more power usage with Vega...

In terms of efficiency Intel is basically AMD at this point.
Nearly 3x power for ~20% performance?
No thanks. A 290x is enough space heating for me.
