I'm not deadset on anything on here so feel free to suggest anything! I'm open to Intel CPUs and AMD GPUs also if you guys pitch it that I'll benefit from either more.

Honestly, I would go with 16gb of DDR4 and a 1080 before I would go with a 1070 and 32gb of memory

I build workstations for a living, I have clients that ask for 128gb of ram for Siemens NX / Solidworks and other apps. I see the logs, the all never come close to uses all that memory.

Maybe 3D animation? Desktop publishing?

Here's a few options:

Yeah, 1070 is still overpriced for it's performance. And memory is something that's easy to upgrade AND INCREDIBLY OVERPRICED RIGHT NOW.

Go 1080 and 16gb.

You guys think it'd be worth it to up my budget by $100 and go with 16GB RAM and a 1080Ti?

Not unless you expect to be video-limited when you're doing your game design?

All video games are easily maxed by the 1080 at your native resolution.

So at 1920x1080 I wouldn't benefit gaming wise picking the 1080Ti over the 1080? How about 1070 vs 1080 at that resolution?

This is absolutely not true.

I had a 1070 and a 1080 ... I could bring both those cards to their knees @ 1080p with ultra settings .... 4k? Yeah .. it was painful even with medium settings.

1080 or 1080 ti.

I have a 4k display, with high settings I only get 40 - 45 - 50ish FPS @ 4k.

We are still not there yet as far as a card being able to get 4K@60fps with Ultra settings.

These are not my words or my findings, this is nearly every single review out there on the web and on youtube.

HardOCP just ran a review on the Vega 64. There are several games using the 1080 ti ... none of those games went close to 60fps at 4k I don't think.

Don't get the 32gb of ram. You will almost 99% not use it. Take the extra money and get the 1080 or 1080 ti.

Don't listen to people saying you don't need all that horse power. It's all horse shit. Bring your biggest guns you have to any fight period.

Looks pretty good, I remember EVGA has some issues with their 1080's but probably is something that its no longer on the newer ones.
But MSI is dead quiet and pretty good overclocker if you want some options.
