Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017)

how are graphics?...better then the first game?...better then Battlefield 1?

I would say that they are similar. I finally played another game mode that had a more comparable map to Endor from the first game. It looks just as good, perhaps better. If the second game is better looking, it's only due to minor tweaks. One thing is for sure, you need to turn motion blur off. I'm not a fan of motion blur, but it it seems to effect things more drastically here than in other games. Everything has a haze on it and it obstructs detail on objects.

This is a pretty good improvement over the first game. Classes at least have some sort of progression and I like that the vehicles / heroes are unlocked by accumulating points. In the previous game people would just camp the spawns for the pickups and it was fairly difficult to play as a hero if someone was doing that. It also encourages team / objective play so you can earn points faster during the round if you want to unlock them. It was quite fun flying into one of the capture rooms as Boba Fett on the Naboo map and unleashing a rocket barrage that cleared the entire room at once :)

I was in the alpha test and the beta definitely runs much better. It seems pretty well optimized though they should be pretty good with Frostbite at this point.

As I said, the design of the vehicle system is supposed to make the game feel more accessible. I think they went too far with the vehicle pickups in the last game. It gave the game an arcade feel and didn't work as intended due to the fact that people spawn camped the pickups as you stated. As for your comments concerning performance, I had the same experience. The alpha ran like shit, but the beta runs smooth. The alpha felt like a shit show and the beta feels like a very polished product. The first Battlefront (2015) game was similar in that the beta felt extremely polished and it was easily the most polished modern game I've seen on release in years.

/lol, sitting around in the lobby for another 3 players to join for almost 5 minutes now. Matchmaking is a fucking joke, and so is DICE. And in the time of typing this everyone just bailed and now I am waiting for 16 players to join before the round will start.

I haven't had this problem. I've been able to find a game in a minute or two at the most for all three game modes.

Going in to a game mode from the menu has been fine for me. I have had issues where I've stayed on for a second match in star fighter mode and matchmaking was broken then. Going back out to the main menu and queuing up again puts me right back into a match as expected.

I haven't had this issue either.

I think they made this game too similar to Battlefield. I enjoyed the first beta more than this one so far.

I think many of us will disagree on that point. However, there are some clear balance issues that I see after spending more time with the game. The Starfighters feel pretty well balanced, but the infantry combat needs some work. I don't know how many times I've emptied the three shot grenade launcher onto a single target and not killed it. That's fucking stupid.

So, I'm having some serious issues playing this game, if someone could help me out.

1) The text in game looks really fuzzy, is it supposed to look like this? Or is something going on? I looked up screenshots and the text in game does not look the way mine does. It's really annoying.

2) When I quit out of the game somehow my ENTIRE windows desktop color scheme is COMPLETELY fucked everything is EXTRA saturated and I don't know wtf to do to fix it (other than completely restarting every time I exit the game).

I'm playing on a Samsung 4k TV. Titan XP.

just started playing...is DX12 broken in the beta?...graphics look like a step down from the first game...everything looks more plastic and not as sharp...am I missing something or are there pretty much zero advanced graphics settings to tweak?...the Starfighter Assault controls are difficult to master using kb/m...flying movement seems too sensitive

Its likely turning HDR on. I don't run Windows with it on because of that. You can go to Start > Settings > System and under Display turn it off. You may have to find a way to disable in game to keep it from switching.

I actually don't see anything in windows about HDR under my display settings. I don't have HDR turned on my samsung TV i know that much.

1.) Yes, I believe it's designed to look like the holograms in Star Wars films. Everything seems to be designed that way for all the menus. Some pictures aren't like this, but the text seems to have a wave effect added to it.
2.) That's HDR doing that. My Samsung display used to do that with Andromeda if the game quit abnormally.

It's not HDR that's responsible for that problem with the text. I'm not sure if that's what you meant or not. The other problem is HDR, but nothing exists in the menus like you describe.

Turn off motion blur. There is also some chromatic aberation effect that may be responsible for the rest of it. I don't believe we can turn that off. At least, not via the game's options menu.

Gameplay is still meh. Stiff. Bf1 is more fun for me. Might be the guns and lack of destructive environment. Too fake. Like an old school arcade game. I dunno. Feels like I am giving myself a stranger.

I didn't even see that Advanced Graphics section...it doesn't respond to mouse scrolling so I didn't realize there was another section below plus the background fades into the menu so it was hard to see the scrolling area...are people here playing with DX12?...DX11 seems to run better for me for some reason (looks better too)

3rd person view seems like the better way to play this

Had to dig around to find the ProfileOptions_profile to set FullscreenEnabled 0. Was getting no video every time game launched. HDR does kick in automatically even though its turned off in Windows. Turned blur down and set UI to 4K, have to restart game after and it looks better, not perfect. In game looks great. When I exit game HDR turns back off nicely.

Only done some space combat so far and overall enjoyed it. Not sure how much life it has but not regretting the pre-order.

controls feel sluggish with kb/m...textures not as sharp...gameplay feels boring...the guns mainly suck...heavy is the only class that feels good to play...the space battle is the best part from a visual standpoint but feels too slow

No offense but why sitting around at all - thought you swore off all DICE/EA games a long time ago? :)

I swear the biggest naysayers and nitpickers are always the first in line for every new title from the companies they insist they disdain.

And why wouldn't I try a FREE beta to confirm first hand my suspicions that it's still not worth paying money for? Your fanboy arguments become more laughable and asinine with every new DICE/EA game

so I realized that targeting other player ships, while fun, is not the best way to play the Starfighter Assault map...targeting objectives seems to be the key to racking up the points...game is definitely getting more fun the more I play but I'm still not hooked...

Because that setting isn't there.

So I noticed when you turn the game down to 1080p the "holographic" effect of the text isn't nearly as noticeable. Apparently it's just a scaling issue with 4k. It shouldn't look as fuzzy as it does, it's something that needs to be fixed by the devs.

As far as my 2nd issue with the game screwing up my color scheme when I quit out, AFAIK I do not have HDR turned on. Nothing in my Samsung settings leads me to believe this unless its something that's automatically on with Console Mode because I have my PC automatically set up to always be in Console Mode on the TV. That being said, no other game that I'm currently playing causes the same issues when quitting out, maybe because none of them have HDR as an option though. Could be it.

If your TV is set to be in UHD color mode, then HDR should be automatic. It is on mine. It used to tell me whenever an HDR supported game or device was connected but that was changed in more recent firmware. I'm not sure how you would even turn HDR off. What you are seeing is a side effect of HDR not "turning off" when you exit the application that supports it. I have seen this before.

Is it me or does this game looks ugly and washed out? Everything set to ultra, 1440P. Turned off the dynamic resolution thing to.

I think I prefer more of a pvp/deathmatch style in my multiplayer which is why I'm not loving this game...the objective based gameplay is not something I normally like and this is definitely all about obectives/team-based modes...the more I play Starfighter Assault the more I like it but the controls still feel too stiff (kb/m)...and yes the graphics do look noticeably worse which definitely doesn't help...I don't like the maps either...Hoth and Endor were much better

I couldn't do the space battles... the lack of freedom drives me bonkers. Now I haven't tried them because what I saw looked just like Battlefront 1.

There's this dumbed down shit. Then there's flight sim type flying. Then there's Star Citizen's newtonian stuff. This should at least be flight simish IMO.

When I logged in, I was like wow look at all this neato stuff I can do. After playing, it really didn't take long for that neato feeling to dissipate. Honestly I wish they would have focused on one thing, rather than given me a buffet of mediocrity, balance isn't there, squad play is non existent and wtf is up with the guns man. Dare I say I liked the hackerfest COD WWII better...

The more I play this the more I realize, all it is, is as follows: Select Heavy, point cursor at bad guy, click left mouse button lol, OMG, there's a group of them, push E, OMG, I'm gonna die, Push F, lol. This pile of garbage is really making me double think COD.

Yup this game is trash.

Everything is proceeding as the emperor has forseen. Except the part where the gameplay just plain sucks.

This is a no buy for me.

at least performance is excellent...at 1200p with my GTX 1070 I'm getting 130+ fps in the Starfighter Assault map...~3.5GB VRAM being used...but this is with DX11...DX12 had some stuttering and slowdowns

Im enjoying the beta. It's probably still a buy for me. I liked the first one. I have 70 hours in the first one, so I got my money's worth.

My brother uninstalled the beta after 10 minutes before we even finished a single round together. He said it felt too similar to the first game and he didn't like the first one too much.

I'm not sure I like the new Power Up system where it rewards the Hero characters/ships to the players with the highest points...those players don't need the extra advantage being that they are already highly skilled...there needs to be a better balance where less top-tier players can get those Power-Ups

Played about 15 mins before uninstalling, incredibly "meh".

The chromatic aberration effect is fucking hideous. Who the fuck honestly thinks it looks good. Like seriously. I swear it's only developers / artists. I don't think I've ever found another player, ever, in any game, that thought it was a good effect.

Also, eh. It's alright game wise so far.

I'm definitely on the fence. I think its OK but the beta definitely wasn't enough to totally sell me on the game. My biggest concern for PC is that it will fail quickly and turn into a low pop zero server queue forever situation.
