Artifacts, What Do?

My gpu (Gigabyte gtx 980) literally caught on fire a few months ago (normal use, no overclocking. Decent cooling) and I had to rma it. Got it back worked fine for a little bit and it's now pushing minor artifacts out the wazoo. Nothing completely game breaking, but occasional weird lighting, and most commonly what I would call "infinity spikes" where parts of models spike out to infinity. I can minimize it by underclocking the card, but it still pops up from time to time even then.

Should I rma it yet again? I'm a little grumpy that it's happening so soon after getting it rma'd because it seems like that's something they should test for. Any recommendations for what I should say to get them to put in more than the bare minimum? Its warranty expires in a month, so if I get it back, it's broken still, and they won't take it back a third time I would be quite miffed.

Ahh, OK.

DDU the drivers and reinstall them fresh and if it still artifacts then definitely RMA it before warranty expires.

Actually took a step further and did a full format/clean install (was due for one), and issue persists, so ya gonna rma it.
That said, any idea how I could shake them down to make sure they put in the necessary diligence?

Never dealt with Gigabyte support so no clue... Hope/Pray/Sacrifice??!!

Ask them to pay for the return shipping this time. It shouldn't be your responsibility to constantly pay to ship it back. That being said, I know you put it in another rig, that means the other rig have a different psu correct? Otherwise I might check out your psu for possibly being the culprit for killing the cards

Disassemble, apply blazing heat via oven or heat gun - void warranty but profit.

I had the same issue with Sapphire. They kept sending me cards that would artifact after a month or so. After the 3rd time, I just bought a new card. I hope it works out better for you with Gigabyte.

yea, call Gigabyte and see if you can reach a human on the phone. While you're on hold send their Customer Service department an email and see if that get's answered. When I tried not so long ago I wasn't successful with either.

I had a similar issue with an ASUS card I had to RMA several times. Eventually I demanded a new card and they gave in. Find a way to duplicate the issue as easy as possible and send directions with your RMA.
