Windows Blu-ray Playback software

Looking for free or inexpensive playback software for windows 10 Blu-ray. I have a drive i just don't have software. I keep seeing 50+ dollar applications which to me is a waste of my money. I don't need anything fancy, but if those are the only choices i might as well sell my drive and cut my losses. Thanks for any responses!
 
One could always use MakeMKV to rip the Blu-ray content to storage and play it from there (because the ripping process decrypts the content and allows it to then be playable with most any modern media player like MPC-HC, VLC, and so on). It's the decryption aspect that creates the big problem - once the content is decrypted it's just h.264 video streams which is simple to decode nowadays.

I still don't own any Blu-ray hardware or media myself, I find it kinda pointless nowadays with streaming services gaining traction in the overall market - for the cost of basically any popular Blu-ray at about ~20 nowadays that's 2 months of Netflix service and no I realize they don't always have the same content aka they're forced into rotating it because of how their deals with movie and TV studios works but even so, "unlimited" content (for the most part) for ~$20 a month is better IMO than coughing up the same price for a piece of physical media anymore.

A free solution for most Blu-rays (as some are particularly finicky about their copy protection) would be to use DVDFab-PasskeyLite to decrypt the Blu-ray (assuming it's one that can be decrypted) and then you can play it "live" with MPC-HC, VLC, or some other media player with the disc still in the Blu-ray drive. Personally I'd recommend using MakeMKV to rip it to the drive and play it back whenever you want but it's eventually up to you to decide for yourself how to best handle that.

Thank you! I will try to rip as an MKV and play or reformat using VLC. Thanks again for the reply, I'll let you know how it goes
 
If you want to consider spending money, I have used (bought) PowerDVD and it is the best I have used for actually a playing a Blu-ray like a real blu-ray. Everything else I have tried has been a clusterfuck in some way or another.

I rip all our movies, so we don't really ever experience a blu-ray as a blu-ray. for that I use AnyDVD HD and Handbrake. I learned a while ago to just spend the money. Even pirates have to invest in quality swords at some point.
 
BluRay is one thing, has anyone out there found a way to watch all these stupid HD-DVDs I bought back in the day on a PC?
