Apple has officially announced their flagship product, the iPhone X (pronounced “ten”): as rumored, the handset features a nearly bezel-less OLED display and Face ID, which allows users to unlock the device and make payments using their face with a new camera system dubbed “TrueDepth.” The iPhone X is also said to last two hours more than the iPhone 7 and can charge wirelessly via "AirPower."

iPhone X features the new A11 Bionic chip with a special neural engine that helps power Face ID. Apple says Face ID can’t be spoofed by photographs, masks, and makeup, and changing your actual appearance with a hat or beard or makeup won’t prevent Face ID from working. Apple says all the processing is completed locally and securely, and the feature only works when your eyes are open and you’re paying attention and not looking away.

One Face brings a whole new meaning to Amazon's expiring 1-Click patent.

Everyone is going to be scrambling for the "cancel purchase" button.

I'll reserve judgement on the FaceID security questions until the phones are in the wild and people can play with them. I would suspect that though they might not be vulnerable to a static picture, a short animated loop might trip it up.

"Starting" at $999. That's only for the 64GB version. They're mum on the cost of the 256GB model.

Im going to get a 8+. Apples SOC is still the fastest around, and I like the overall iOS ecosystem. The X didnt do much for me at all though.

Did anyone catch what size the iPhone X is going to be closer to? My feed crashed.

Looks like I was more or less correct on my assessment that they segmented the iPhone line with a 'premium' version that doesn't seem worth the premium.

Edge to edge screen, while it looks nice, doesn't offer more functionality than the 8 and FaceID does what TouchID does. That leaves the X with a couple of actual advantages over the 8: Display color range and Animated Emojiis.

Not worth the cost over the 8. Also the lack of a Home button really adds a couple non-intuitive new gestures to access the home screen and multitasking menu.

Is the display a true oled or some lcd led like on most TVs?

Hey.......iPhone X.......don't worry, we'll lend you the money to buy it.............

jesus, 1000 for a frickin phone........no thank you.

Just looking at other hi-end phones on Verizon's site and the Samsung Note 8 is $960 (before promotional credit) and the S8+ is $860...I'd say the price isn't too terrible. Its about $40 bucks a month over 24 months (if you trade your phone in)

The dinosaur on the basketball court was interesting at least.

Technically 5.8".

There's a thread about the Apple Event over in the Apple section of the forum, but there seemed to be a lot apprehension with the X. Paraphrasing, the lack of touch ID seems to be hit/miss with people. I can totally see how it's convenient because it won't require picking up the phone to look at it. I'm not sure how non-intuitive swiping up is, but the gestures seemed to be simple and make sense. I can't honestly see anyone having any issues with this when they get it into their hands.

With Face ID the FBI won't need you password anymore they just hold the iPhone X in front of your face.
It needs your eyes to be open, it needs you to be looking at the lens, and the police don't need consent for fingerprint anyways. Turn your phone off if the police come. They can't ask for your password.

So is it bigger than a 7 but smaller than a 7 plus?

It's $1,149.

Am I the only person who doesn't suffer from phone-envy? To me new phone announcements are akin to Fashion Shows.

I think it just depends on what you're interested in. Some people love to have the latest and greatest, some don't care, life goes on, etc.

Yep, it fits right in between, but it technically has the biggest screen.

They went into the future in the past and stole the iphone nine that is why it goes 8 to X. Watch the video it explains it all :)

I was laughing out loud when they stated that iOS becomes the largest platform for Augmented Reality ! :ROFLMAO:
like thats gonna happen.. but there sure are alot of iSheep in the world.

iOS 11 has a feature that disables bio-metrics and forces the passcode to be used for unlock. This is triggered by pressing the sleep/wake button 5 times.

Once enabled, they can resort to torturing the information out of ya :D

For guys like me stuck in iOS becasue of work its nice to have have the extras.....finally.

Side note i see no reason to upgrade from my 6s+ until they neuter it with software.......still fast enough for now
