Dishonored 2

The last few times I tried to play this it kept bogging down with certain environmental effects. Steam/fog/etc. mainly.
I tried doing everything from lowering details, to the resolution, to AA, to whatever.
One of the AA types also kept giving me light bleeding through a bunch of corners.

Anyone else have any of these issues and did they ever fix any of 'em?

I never had severe issues to begin with along those lines (I know others did) but I can say since the game came out there have been several updates and I know at least some of those went directly to performance issues.

Me either really. I did have some slight performance issues on my first play. Nothing game-breaking, but they were definitely annoying. (some hitching, that sort of thing if I remember correctly) However, those were gone with the first patch or two. The game works about as well as I could expect at this point.

I can already tell that Death of the Outsider is going to go under the radar for most folks...shame how good games go unplayed which makes it harder to get developers to make them

Played Dishonored 1 thoroughly. Enjoyed every bit of it. Played lately Dishonored 2. Finished it. Got mostly bored. Yes, Death of the Outsider will come under my radar.

I'll be playing it this weekend. I'll probably do high chaos my first playthrough, which will be a first in a Dishonored game for me, but the new powers actually seem pretty cool.

This expansion will probably be on my GOTY shortlist at least. It's a guarantee if it continues the high quality of Dishonored 2 which tied with Hitman for my personal GOTY last year. I'll be unpleasantly shocked if it falls short of this.

Fired up the normal game last night and it seems like the fog effect hitching and light seeping through corners are gone. Since I'm in-between big releases at the moment this seems like a good time to give this another go.

I'm tempted to play through Dishonored 2 again before DotO comes out. I didn't enjoy it as much as Dishonored 1, also never played as Emily, picked Corvo twice, did a no power run then one with powers/clean hands. Maybe I'll give Emily a shot and go high chaos.

If it's anything like the first game, I'll start out with stealth, but I have no qualms eradicating everyone with powers if I get caught. The first game was pretty much all or nothing so if you screw up once you might as well just take everyone out.

As good as 1 was, 2 definitely refined the gameplay to an absolute tee. It never *has* to de-evolve into a killfest...unless you want it to. ;)

Arkane really nailed the level design in D2...2 of the levels were a master class in level design...hopefully Death of the Outsider continues with this...I liked what I saw of Billie's new abilities in those preview videos...I think they went a bit more mainstream with this to try and get a bigger audience and they eliminated things like having to drink those elixrs

Arkane did something I rarely say: Innovated. That level design in Dishonored 2 was brilliant and set a new standard outright.

Seeing Billie Lurk and Daud is going to turn heads. The word has been going out anyways: This game is incredible, long since patched and fixed up, and absolutely shouldn't be missed by anyone.

Loved both games. I'm really looking forward to the DLC. It's just shy of $20 on cdkeys.

Dishonored 2 always felt like Emily’s story, where the first one was Corvo’s.

Since I'll likely start over, would you recommend playing her rather than Corvo? I doubt I'll play through it a second time, so I'd like to get the most out of it.

I couldn't get into Dishonored 2 just felt disconnected with the game compared to the 1st game mainly the Art style wasn't the same using a different engine I actually had Death of the Outsider pre-ordered but I got a refund due to all the games coming out at the same time.

I would. If you decide to go high chaos, it’s pretty good. I would start most levels in stealth and then just go with whatever happens- don’t go out of your way with finding too many secrets or side routes.

technically Death of the Outsider is not DLC but rather a standalone game...Arkane/Harvey Smith considers this the end of the Corvo/Emily/Jessamine story (and thus probably the end of Dishonored as well)...a trilogy but pretty much 1 story told from various point of views

http://dishonored.wikia.com/wiki/Dishonored:_Death_of_the_Outsider

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider is a standalone expansion pack and a sequel to Dishonored 2, set to be released on September 15, 2017. It will star Billie Lurk as protagonist in a plot to end the Outsider.[1]

The game's story will conclude the "Kaldwin era" of the series.[2]

But not the series outright hopefully. ;)

It definitely makes sense to be done with the "Kaldwin arc/era" after this but it's a big world and I think there's plenty of potential and room left for this series. I sincerely hope this isn't the last Dishonored game.

I really like seeing weighty expansions like this. I always have.

I thought the game came out today...these Friday releases always throw me off because I'm so used to the usual Tuesday new game releases (USA)

Good time to pick up a CD keys key today I never finished the Dishonored 2 so I won't pick this up it would just clog my backlog.

I hope for 9-10 missions like a full campaign for a Dishonored game, since they are releasing it stand alone. It might be around 5-8 since the price is $20 cheaper than their usual full release.

Brigmore Witches had 4 missions and the Knife of Dunwall had 3 missions.

If they did 3-4 missions for $30 I would be a little irritated, but get over it eventually.

I'm waiting until the initial reviews are out and how well it performs before I dive in. Hopefully, there won't be many bugs and it will run pretty good right out of the gate.

In the meantime, I'm going to finish both episodes of Bioshock Infinite's Burial at Sea DLC in 4K. This year, I've been working my way through the entire remastered series (Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2, etc.) and have loved them. I never played the Burial at Sea DLC's the first time around, so enjoying them in 4K will be quite a treat and a nice conclusion for me of the whole series.

Bethesda sends a review copy to various review sites a day in advance of release, which is why there are no reviews. I'm pretty confident the expansion will be excellent and will get positive reviews. For $20+/- it's a no-brainer.

it's literally $24 on Amazon now (with the Prime discount)...Amazon offers the 20% discount on pre-orders plus it also applies to every new game up to 2 weeks after release...the 2 week option is a really great deal as it you can wait to read reviews and player impressions before buying with the discount and don't feel pressured to blindly pre-order to take advantage of it

I've been a Prime member for years and just learned about this like a week ago, I pre-ordered Dishonored: Death of the Outsider and Wolfenstein II already. I'm not one to really pre-order but I'm certain I'll enjoy these games.

first review- GameInformer (8.5 score)

On a gameplay level, Dishonored has always been about giving players a variety of skills and abilities to accomplish their objectives and then letting them go hog wild...Death of the Outsider might be the strongest version of that series concept...the chaos system, which determined what ending you would get in Dishonored and Dishonored 2, is gone completely...you can kill as many people as you want and suffer no narrative consequences for it...this tweak also turns out to be for the better, giving you the freedom overcome obstacles with whatever means necessary, lethal or otherwise, without any systems in place to hold you responsible for your actions in an artificial manner

Death of the Outsider is a fairly short experience, about half as long as Dishonored 2. However, peppered throughout every level are a number of side quests you can do called contracts that reward money and are often skilled-based challenges...the biggest strike against Death of the Outsider is while its levels are fun and open-ended in the way series fans have come to expect, none of them are particularly memorable enough on their own...don’t get me wrong, I had fun pulling off a heist with minimal casualties and navigating The Void while being pursued by giant monsters, but there is no level that comes to matching the enigmatic wonders of Jindosh’s Clockwork Mansion or the time-bending puzzles of Artemis Silton’s house

Luckily, everything comes together in the end in a predictable but satisfying way, making these occasional weak points bumps in the road on a journey worth taking...Death of the Outsider ultimately emerges as a strong chapter in one of the best modern action/RPG series thanks to gameplay refinements and dedication to its dark fiction...this standalone expansion doesn’t revolutionize the series but instead does something more important, navigating the familiar to bring everything to a satisfying conclusion...

These are two of my top titles for the entire year.

Good read. No serious spoilers to speak of.

In depth interview with Arkane's Harvey Smith about the future...if any...for this series after this expansion. I sincerely hope the broader concept can continue. It makes perfect sense that this specific story arc is headed to conclusion.

EDIT: I've been playing.... more awesomeness as expected.

Giving this another go and my performance issues are definitely long gone. Playing with everything cranked all the way up at 1080p and having no issues with stutters or weird light creeping through corners. The camera lens flares and light beams are going to take getting used to, but at least I can turn those off as needed.

Played missions 1 and 2 of the new one.

It's good.

Sure, it's no Clockwork Mansion or Crack in the Slab... but... yeah. Somehow I'm liking this one better already than most of D2.
