While GIGABYTE tweeted a teaser photo of one of its upcoming Intel Express Z370 Chipset motherboards this weekend, full pics of the Z370 Aorus Gaming series have already leaked to the public. GBT mentioned "Try and guess what this is." Turns out that is not too tough to do. October 5th looks to be the release date. It looks as though MSI is getting in on the action to with its Z370 Krait Gaming

So sick of this RGB crap. I just put an Asus X370-Pro in my server pc because it was the cheapest x370 board ($119 w/ cpu combo, not counting $10 rebate I'm not sure I'll do) that had 3x pci express slots that would do 4x minimum on each slot if all 3 are populated, so I can use 1x gpu and 2x raid cards. Still has glowy RGB, which is never seen inside the solid case and then that pc is in a closet.
 
I hear ya, I tend to darken all effects and quiet my systems down as much as possible especially if they're in/near the livingroom.
Disabling RGB in bios is hard? ;)

As vegeta535 mentioned, some of us are looking for options without lighting effects at all. Unlike other nitpicks such as number sata ports, pci express slots, etc., this lighting craze adds absolutely no value if you aren't looking to make a showpiece. It's like how nearly every tv on the market is a smart tv, you can't really get one without those 'features'.

Or maybe another way to put it, is buying a 4 wheel drive truck but never needing that functionality so you would just tell the person to just never shift it into 4 wheel drive. Why not just buy the 2 wheel drive in the first place? Options without lights in the motherboard landscape are not so plentiful right now.

If the few extra LEDs cost the manufacturer $50, sure. But it costs them pennies, so there's no financial sense for them to manufacture two separate SKUs, and when you can just disable RGB in bios.

Yes it cost them very little but I wouldn't doubt if they actually raises the price by $50~ since RGB is the hot thing right now. Either way in the end you are paying for something people don't want. MB manufacturer also have shit ton of SKU as is so what is one more!
 
[H] reviewed the MSI Z270 SLI PLUS and that is a great board without all the blinky lights.

I'm waiting for the Z370/Z390 version of that board.

You are correct in that the lighting isn't expensive. I agree. But I disagree with the notion that the lights (or the rest of the hardware needed) is the only cost.
Look on all major mobo maker's support sites, and what do you see? Downloads for software that controls the lighting. BIOS also has code in it to control the lighting. There are software developers and testers out there testing this and releasing this, and making corrections and feature changes. Those people cost a lot of money. And you can discount it, but I would like to at least make people think about this a little more.
