Amazon Echo (New, not Refurbished) for $74.99

They must really be trying to clear these things out ahead of a new Echo model!

The Echo has been $90 several times over the last few months - ever since Prime day. I kinda wanted one (I had a gen 1 dot, but it died) but I think you're right - it feels more like a stealthy clearance than just "sales". I'd like to see something with an optical jack or some sort of PC integration - I don't like feature forks where the Dot has a 3.5mm out and a tiny speaker and the Echo has decent speakers but no connectivity....

Damn, if I didn't have 5 of them already I'd be all over that.

Does it just sit there with a blue ring while booting?

Yes. Any ideas?

Yes, Take it somewhere, set it up, and plug it in. Walk away.

It might take a day or two, but it should come back to life.

I think this happens if there is a power issue during a firmware update or something.

I thought mine was dead too until I did the above. Don't be afraid to unplug it every 8 hours or so and plug it back in.

PM me and let me know it works :)

When it first happened, I tried to reset it and I left it on a long time - then reset it and left it on, etc for about 2 days. I finally called time of death and put it on the shelf.

I plugged it back in this afternoon and five minutes later, it was on - wiped and ready to be reconfigured.

I'm glad it's back - I like the heft of the gen 1 model...

I have an Echo, but hardly use mine. What do you all primarily do with yours? Any neat tricks that you care to share?

Mine's in my bedroom. It's the best alarm clock I've ever had! It's so nice and easy to set alarms by talking to the Echo. Other than that, I mainly just use mine to check the weather or listen to the news or music as I go to sleep. Worth it!

Dang, we had a little power blip Wednesday and the Echo Dot is back to the slowly spinning blue lights.

Had it powered on for about 48 hours now with occasional resets - no luck.

Use it mostly to play music in the living room when I don't feel like turning on my home theatre system, use my echo show to entertain my Africa gray parrot by queuing up seasons of cartoons for him or music both thru Prime or drop in on the integrated camera and watch what he's doing thru my phone while I'm at work.

And again - the original Echo Dot will work fine, but if we have a power outage, it goes into Guru Meditation for 36-48+ hours.

Hell of a design flaw...
