Oculus Touch Controller, trigger dampening

Got an Oculus /w Touch last week since I figured the sale would end and I couldn't pass it up, but after a week of light gameplay the left trigger on my touch controller has lost it's dampened feel.

The trigger is now quite loud and is pretty audible through the headphones at times. Anyone else experience this?

Found a thread in the Oculus forums where a user recorded a video of exactly this:



It's not too big of a deal for me since it's rare that I play with the headphones that low on volume anyway but I'm really curious what will happen long term. From what I can find online, it may only be a matter of time before that dampening material gets lodged elsewhere preventing the trigger from fully depressing.

crazy, owned mine for a month now with probably about 20-30 hours play time and zero issues like this. What I suggest is if you dont already have a 3rd sensor, buy another set of touch controllers which will also give you a 3rd sensor. Then send these ones in for RMA, once it comes back you will have 3 sensors and a backup pair of controllers ;)


Or just rma them but then your out on touch games for atleast a week.
 
This issue has been known for a long time now. People who have taken their Touch controllers apart say there's a piece of rubber that gets misaligned after a few hours of use. You can RMA them if you want, but the replacements will do the same thing after a while.

I didn't even realize mine did this until I noticed the controllers sounded louder than I remember while watching my girlfriend play, and looked into it about it a month ago. I've had my controllers since release in December, and I'm not sure when the issue actually started. I can't hear the clicking while wearing the HMD, and it doesn't effect the functionality of the controller so I don't see the point in RMAing them.
 
I was mainly curious how often it's happened to you all here on [H].

It's not a huge deal at all to me but weird that it happened in just over a week of maybe a total of 10-15 hours of gameplay. The last time I played was Sunday night....got a bit drunk while playing Rec Room so maybe that did it, lol.

I didn't realize the controllers came with a sensor, I'll be picking up another set today just for the sensor/peace of mind. Heck, I've got a gift card that'll take it down the price of just the sensor anyway, so why the heck not.

Also, to comment on the noise: That noise is annoying. RMA that biz. Mine haven't had any trouble for the week or so I've owned them, hopefully with everybody beating up on them they don't get annoying that quickly.
 
I have had my set for 5 months at least and no problems. I do have a new pair in case though. :)
 
The problem is that it's a tiny little piece of rubber without a lot of surface area to adhere to. All the fixes I've seen require major surgery to go in and replace the double sided tape with a real adhesive.

Normally I would attempt a DIY fix but I'll avoid this seeing as how the front face is held by glue. I wouldn't know how to go about reapplying that at all without it loosing it's factory new feel.

I hear you. At least until the warranty is up.
 
Yeah, this happened to two sets of controllers I had. Just lived to deal with it, sucks though because it makes them feel more "premium" and, yeah, quieter.
