Currently have the GTX 1080 G1 Gaming. I've been gaming for a long time at 1080p and being able to hit the dial to max out every game at well north of 60fps is a wonderful feeling.

Due to needing more screen restate and wanting to go to a higher resolution without tanking my framerates. I've decided to take the plunge and upgrade to 1440p instead of 4k. My new monitor should be arriving tomorrow.

Just wanted to know does the 1080 GTX have enough horsepower to max out which includes 4xAA every game at the moment with framerates well above 60fps for minimum framerates or will this resolution be too much for the GTX 1080?

Should be plenty powerful for 1440p, even using DSR for 4K in some titles. I believe 2xAA is more realistic for 1440p IMO though, but it depends on the game. What processor do you have?

Yes its more than enough. Overclocked it holds its own pretty well in 4K as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have the 6700k overclocked to 4.6ghz, and thank you for that video.

1080 has been killin it. Honestly I am a little disappointing too.. I want to buy something but its not worth it lol.

i'm thinking about the potential for a trade/swap somehow for my benq 1440p 144hz freesync for someone with gsync, not sure it'd fly , but mayhaps! I like the monitor, but gsync intrigues me. Loving my 1080!

I absolutely love my EVGA 1080, kills it on 1440p, able to max just about any game and hit 60FPS with the exception of Ark, GTAV (4xAA for me, anything higher and I get FPS dips under 60) and PUGB.

Personally, I do lower a few settings to get the fps in the 80-90 range (I run a Dell S2716DG), but the 1080 is a perfect card for maxed out 1440p gaming.

depends on the game and FPS 1440P 120hz 1080 OC can play most games. Some will struggle at max settings to maintian consistent FPS. It all depends on the game. Checl out techpowerups reviews to see how it does.

Ditto all the others. Have a G-Sync 1440P screen and 1080 from Gigabyte, running perfectly.

My lowly 1060 3GB does pretty good on 1440- your 1080 will have no problem

Don't be shy about dropping from ultra ("benchmark") to high settings either. My g-sync 1440 + 1080FE have been a great pair.
