Diablo 3 Discussion Thread

Finally did GR83 and cracked the leaderboard, #962. So I'll be off it by tomorrow probably...

I'm also now convinced everything GR80+ is mostly luck. I had three elite packs within a very small area towards the end of a floor, and then two more right away on the next floor, and that was the only reason I completed it in time. Other attempts I'd be lucky to have 5 elite packs in the entirety of two floors.

^Meaning keep trying until you get a favorable one? Or are there actual things to look for, like what zone you get?

To my knowledge there are certain maps that have very high density and some have very low. The act 4 tower maps is a high density one, and sewers are low density one, but it still depends ultimately on mob placement.

This is my impression anyhow, the highest I have ever pushed is only 80 3 seasons ago, and I haven't pushed much beyond 75 before or after that. I usually play for Season Journey and done and gone after that. But while I was pushing even at the lowly high-70's, my performance did somewhat depend on the density.

I am still deciding whether or not Necromancer is sufficient to do the 3 conquests I need for Season journey, or if I want to roll another character. I have necromancer well underway and I actually haven't used any of my Haedrig's gift, so I could still roll DH for her UE set or Wizard for her TalRasha set, I am more farmiliar with UE's speed farming, but Wizard's fine too, especially with TR being so OP-ingly flexible.

I did my season journey on my Necro, just had to team up with a full party for the T10 2 minute rift with Avarice and Divinity as my other 2 conquests. And that was with only 2 ancients, neither of which were augmented.

Honestly, the 8 set dungeons was far less tedious now with the necro. I'd say it has the four easiest set dungeons in the game, and the dh has 2 super easy dungeons itself, with two relatively easy set dungeons. I didn't even have any special gear that was being suggested (such as the thing to raise two skeleton mages) and still completed all 4, each on my first attempt.

That's something I want to avoid, I prefer breaking the season journey on my own.

Maybe, but if I were to play a second character, chances are I would rather go after the other conquests than dungeon sets, especially considering that I haven't used any of my Haedrig's gift yet, so gearing up a second character for those should be much simpler than gearing for set dungeons.

Welp, I can finally stop playing Diablo...

cosmic_wings.jpg

I saw DatModz farming for the Cosmic Wings yesterday and thought I should try myself again. I'd put a few hours into it with no luck over the last few seasons. I hopped on my non-season monk and was running the Royal Crypts and Pandemonium Fortress Level 2. My first trip to Pandemonium Fortress got me a rainbow gob but no wings. I was going to stop trying because I thought I wouldn't get another rainbow gob tonight but I was wrong. Maybe 10 runs later I got another and got my wings.

Step one is find a rainbow gob. It does not matter what difficulty level you are on. I happened to be on T7 when I got mine.

The issue is that they drop from an enemy named Princess Lillian. I've seen numbers thrown around that she has a 1-5% chance to spawn. Some people have killed multiple hundreds of rainbow goblins and not seen her. It's all RNG.

I honestly had no idea there was anything even possible in those and usually don't even go into them.../sigh

They reworked them a while ago. Pretty much everything you click on dumps loot at you now. You can get a substantial amount of souls / DB and a ton of gems. It's actually worth going into them now.

That was literally the worst streak I have ever seen to get a Avarice Band...

14 sets of T12 Act 3 bounties... Jesus Christ... I am starting to think I am going to do the Avarice conquest with caches now since I have 200 of act 3 mats and basically none of the others.

This season has been really weird for me. I haven't had ANY ancient weapons drop for my Necro (the weapons I am using anyway, EG Jesseth's Scythe or Shadowhook), except for a TragOul's Corroded Fang, which was a PRIMAL, fairly crappy rolls (Int/Vit/elite damage/% Chill) but still massively better than anything I have had. Multiple copies of Krysbyns and Loves Julian rings, 7~8 gifts so far, paragon 650. 3 Primals so far (the other 2 being a pair of leg boots that I have no space to use, and a Zweihander....)

Don't do the avarice conquest with the avarice band. It makes it much harder to succeed. You want gold piles to be on the ground. This way, if you come up against elites, you have a few piles to buy you some time to kill the elites.

I had an extremely lucky night tonight. One grift boss dropped both a Dayntee's Binding and an Ancient Krysbin's Sentence. Then in town afterwards I gambled my blood shards and got both pieces of Jesseth's set which I still needed. Now all I need is a better amulet and ring since I don't have anything particularly good in those slots.

Well, finished the season journey, and managed to push to 84 with Rathma/Jesseth's set.

I think I may push higher, just need to start working on Augmenting now (stupid legendary gem leveling LOL), since I am feeling to start lacking in damage, but the push this time is far less stressful than when I did it with DH. I'll see if I can push it up to 90.

Also, I think I will do the 8 set conquest after all, right now Asia only has 400ish people on the leaderboards, and I am pretty much fully set on my DH and Necro.

How to complete higher than Rift 60 as solo Necromancer?

I play a pet Necromancer with Jesseth set (ancient) and ok gear. I have ancient Stone of Jordan and some other ancient parts.
My DPS is 850k and 15-18mil toughness (can't remember exacly, but somewhere in between).

I'm Paragon 430

Skills:
Siphon Blood - Blood Sucker rune
Skeletal Mage - Skeleton Archer rune
Command Skeletons - Frenzy rune
Decrepify - Enfeeblement rune
Devour - Voracious rune
Army of the Dead - Unconventional Warfare rune

Passives:
Life from Death
Extended Servitude
Eternal Torment

Kanai Cube:
The Furnace
Reaper's Wraps
Circle of Nailuj's Evol

Legendary gems:
Bane of the Powerful (lvl 25)
Bane of the Trapped (lvl 25, because Decrepify slows everything)
Enforcer

My tactic is basically to immobilize monsters with Decrepify - Enfeeblement and let skeletons trash everything. It works well most of the time except when I meet a really nasty combo just at the entrance with nowhere to kite.
I use Devour in conjuction with Life from Death to spawn a lot of health globes from corpses which I suck in with Siphon Blood to fuel my Decrepify and Skeletal Mage spam.

But I still can barely manage Rift 60, so I must be doing something wrong.
I'm thinking about replacing Eternal Torment as it doesn't sync with Enfeeblement rune and I anyway have a lot of essence to waste.

Assuming you have Rathma's set from the gifts.. my skills are LM - Bone Spikes - sudden impact, RM - Skeletal mage - Life Support. 1 - Devour - devouring aura, 2 - Decryptify - Dizzing Curse, 3 - Command Skeletons - Dark mending, 4 - Blood Rush - metabolism. passives - Overwhelming Essence, Life from Death, Final Service and Extended Servitude. Ring's Krybin's Sentence, Compass Rose with Traveller's Pledge Amulet. Reaper Wraps Bracer, Dayntee's Binding belt, Jesseth's set with Rathma's set. Cube items are Circle of Nailuj's Evol, Tasker and Theo gloves and Shadowhook scythe. Enforcer, Zei's and Bane of Trapped gems. Amethyst gem in helm for more life as cooldown isn't a part of this build.

Key is keeping the essence up so can maintain a full 10 mages as much as you can. Skeletons are the blockers and nuisence dmg dealers while the Mages deal the bulk of the dmg. Using this build I soloed a 75 Greater Rift changing only the Mage rune from life support to Singularity.

Just started a Necro first time a few days ago. Pretty fun to play definitely the OP class currently. Still working on my jewelry for the Rathmas build. Only annoyance is the constant spam of skeleton archer when you don't have the ring that extends time and doubles cast count

Level a Necro up to like 14 and gamble shards on it..i got the ring within 1000 shards and just cubed it.

I used something similar, except I went with

Command Skeletons - Freezing Grasp
Devour - Cannibalise (I numlock this skill, it's annoying to having to constantly turn it on and of though)
LotD Frozen Lands instead of Blood Rush, and Diamond in helm instead of Amethyst.

I used Skeleton Archers until about 75, then switched to Singularity.

Rest are the same.

I managed to about 80 without using Ancient Jesseth's Scythe, my weapon luck in the beginning was horrid, I couldn't get any ancients barring one Primal Corroded fang and Funerery picks.

Without looking at your gear, your most likely candidates for improvement are:

1, Get Krysbin's. That ring is literally mandatory for Necros.

2. Get Shadowhook, Corroded Fang or Scythe of the Cycle cubed, Rathma typically uses Shadowhook with jesseth's or Scythe of the Cycle with Corroded Fang (equip one and cube the other).

3. Once you get Krysbins, drop Blood Siphon for Bone spikes - Sudden Impact (its stun procs the Krysbin's triple bonus), change to Decrepify - Dizzying Curse (ditto). If you use scythe of the cycle (in cube or weapon), use Bone Armor - Dislocation (ditto).

4. At sub 75 GR, you can get by with using either Skeletal Mage with Blood mage rune or Skeletal archers, but after that you will need to start using Singularity, at which point essence becomes tricky to manage.

5. Make sure you have 1.62 character sheet APS, that'll reach a good break point for your skeletal mages attacks (for Singularity and Blood mage).

6. Use Devour - Cannibalise or Devouring aura, depending on whether or not you want to use numlock trick.

Can be stressful but it also adds a greater level of difficulty to the game when you try to pursue the same level of performance in the end game.
Yeah nothing but respect for guys who do this; I should have clarified - too much stress for me.

Everytime I think, no I'm not going to play that anymore, I play some more.
We will see.

I picked up Necro pac just for this. So I'm going to go for "fun" Necro. As I know already that the top GR build doesn't interest me. Lemme know if ya'll want to level up together. I'm sure I'll try to do Guardian and also get all the Necro achievements for the wings.

I didn't realize the new season started already. I havn't played a DH yet so that's what I am going to mess around with this season. I'm super casual and dont really care about pushing GR's but it will be interesting to see how I fare compared to last season since I am trying a class for the first time.

It's generally speaking my favorite class. So hope you enjoy it. Should be decently strong too. Multishot build is back with a big buff.

My favorite has always been Barb but they have been a bit weak in the past. I have been wanting to try DH for a while so I figured why not roll one this season and see how it goes. The last updated seems to have amped a lot of the gear so I think all the classes should be pretty strong but I will be fun to run something different for once.

Charge and whirlwind barb have been buffed, they are among the top 5 or 6 builds for gr's now. They are have much more potential than any DH build.

Anyone running hardcore this season?
I am!

Well it will be a big change for you. Barb is all melee. And DH is basically all ranged.

Actually I think the multishot build came out as rank 1 after the buff. Either way, I roll DH every season and I can confirm that multishot is so op I would almost call it broken. I finished the season journey after around 18 hours of play time this season. I was running gr70s with pretty much just the basic MS set. Even with completing the journey I only had two ancient pieces of gear. Honestly, I'd consider my gear to be trash and I can still run gr80 like it's nothing. I can solo a 4 player t13 rift like I'm playing on normal. I'm guessing we get t15 next season.
