Acer X27 4k 144hz HDR Gsync

Getting real sick of the Nvidia marketing machine on these Gsync monitors. Seems every single one is 1+ years out after initial unveiling. How about fuck off until you have your products ready?

Doesn't sell as many video cards I'm sure. Bad plan.

Actually it does sell more video cards. People may be buying Nvidia or upgrading to prepare for these new monitors since they plan on these as their future monitors. Geneous marketing to over-hype then delay and you can't even really point the finger at Nvidia either unless Acer or Asus flat out says its because of the Nvidia g-sync modules.

Yeah, that's my point. The ridiculous delay between announcement and these things hitting shelves comes from nvidia, to sell more video cards. That's my conspiracy theory for the day.

I blame Nvidia for forcing Acer/Asus to market the things wayyyy ahead of time, even when the OEMs know damn well they'll never meet the dates.

However, it's not unlike these companies to market unrelated items similarly. For example, Asus showed off the Claymore keyboard at CES for a couple years before they finally launched it. It wasn't using any new tech from 3rd party providers, but they sure took their time getting it to market.

Glad I went ahead and got an X34 2 months ago. Was REALLY looking forward to these new 4k/HDR monitors, but the upgrade itch was too strong. Its really annoying they were saying Q2 in January and now they are saying 2018.

Yeah. That's dumb too. Can't show me a bunch of shiny toys and expect me to resist the urge to play with them immediately. I am admittedly a child if we're talking PC parts.

Anyway, guess we'll all have to wait a bit longer.

the X35 and PG35VQ are still due in Q4 i think.

Crappy time to be upgrading monitors at the moment. There's clear upgrade paths for most of the current top gaming monitors but the ETA's are all unknown or being pushed back:

55" OLED 4k 60hz HDR -> 120hz (possible firmware update or 2018 model)
27" IPS 1440p 165hz Gsync -> FALD 4K 144hz HDR
35" VA 1440p 100hz Gsync -> FALD 200hz HDR
24" TN 1080p 240hz GSync -> unknown upgrade at this time
27"~43" IPS/VA 4k 60hz -> unknown upgrade at this time

I predicted that we would not see true 4K 144hz displays until 2020. That was in early 2016.

Looks like I was damn near right. I expect this display to be delayed even further.

Ouch. Wanted one ASAP. Sad that some of the early talk was of Q2 2017, though I never believed it I still thought fall was possible.

Not sure how definitive this is but Maximum PC did their new Dream Machine for the year and were able to score a "prototype" of the Asus variant of these monitors.

That word "prototype" isn't very promising in regards to a near future release but the other item on it was: They said it was going to be $2500!

at 2500$ I think I'll be waiting awhile...

which is really too bad, I have kind of peaked. The only thing I could do is go ultrawide but I still lose 44hz.

Figured that a long time ago. Seems about right actually if it's top quality.

That's a big "if."

AU Optronics better have their act together is all I'm saying.

I'm pretty blown away by what I've seen people put up with in the $700-$800 ish range as is with all the panel roulette nonsense.

My mind reels imagining panel roulette north of a grand to say nothing about an astronomical price point like this.

The people that throw down the big coin for monitors like these will be absolutely merciless and rightfully so.

Acer Predator XB270HU the first model - some friends of mine have the Asus and it looks a little bit better.. not 800$ worth better though.

It's those or the equivalent Viewsonic xg2703-gs. <- This has actually come out ahead of the other two in certain categories depending on whose feedback and reviews you take in.

I'd probably buy one of these if I felt a little more confident about playing the roulette table. I know the price is because of G-sync premium. Roughly $200 give or take.

Oh i fully agree. I have extremely low expectations for it, in fact i just ordered a Dell Tn panel and really only have a passing interest in this thing any more. Tn, Ips, Va, all crap, figure i will spend as little as i can get away with on crap and be able to do what i need to do until 120Hz+ Oled or whatever, if ever, but for all the tech they are pumping into it i fully expected it to be at least 2 grand. All that aside, "if" it is some miracle and hell freezes over and it kicks ass, i'll buy the shit out of one, i just seriously doubt it.

I could have written your post practically word for word myself.

It just shouldn't be this difficult. ;)

I have a lot of sympathy for many of the points that came up in the "stagnation" thread that's somewhere below this thread.

Looks like in Sweden it will be about $3000 with a release date of 4-4-18. Though it could just be a placeholder.

Anyways, the look of it seems to have changed for the better, if that is an actual picture of it. Personally I don't like the massive Tobi Eye tracking thing on the original pictures.

Right around the time we should be seeing Volta TI cards? But 3k is way too high, I bought a 75 inch Sony 900E for less than that.

Prices of technology in Europe is higher IIRC. I still expect it to be around $2000 in US.

The QC better be improved on these displays 144hz 4k HDR displays because they are charging a premium.

What a shocker. Add +2 years to the release date of anything advertised at CES and we're probably on point.

**UGHH** AUO really needs to get it stuff together and work the bugs out on this panel.

It's becoming increasingly clear why none of the other panel companies have publicly annouced that they're working on a similar product. :(((

Certainly begs the question, if they're having this much trouble w/ the panels, what's the lottery going to be like if/when they do finally deliver?

AUO doesn't have the best track record.

The sad thing is, the first round of these will be complete pieces of shit just like the first G-Sync monitors were, so it'll be like 2020 before the second revision that's actually what people expected in the first place. The monitor manufacturing industry is complete shit and has absolutely no respect for its customers. Honestly, these monitors won't even make it in time. There will be 120hz 4k VRR OLEDs out before a decent one of these hits the market, probably.

27" is too fucking small for this anyway. Don't waste your time on Asus or Acer, guys. They make low quality shit.

Allow me to quote myself...

inet.se has the Acer XB321KH (4k, 32", 60hz, Gsync) for 9990sk, or $1233, it's currently $1029 on Amazon. I picked this model because as the only 32" 4k with IPS and Gsync it's a halo priced gaming display and should be reasonably representative as a cross country price comparison target.

That price difference suggests a US price of $2500-2600; which falls in line with predictions last summer that the 1st generation of LCD with hundreds of HDR zones were going to be stupidly expensive.

Regardless of if it launches at $2k or $3k whenever it finally comes out, I'm definitely not regretting buying myself an XB321HK for Geeksmas.

There was a maximum PC that came out with the X27 on it and it had a placeholder price of 2500$

id say considering the market and this monitors features, thats about right.

These will take multiple years for replacements and prices to come down as well.

Its taken 3-4 years for 1440p 144hz monitors to get to 600$ from 800$

Anyone receive their X27, yet? We were mainly talking in the price thread, but I think we should have discussion about the product in its own thread so more people can find it. Vega said he'll get his tomorrow.

Is the shape and orientation of the picture on the front side of the box deceptive from the pic, or is it holding the monitor sideways instead of upright.

I cancelled my newegg preorder, buying this locally at Microcenter on Friday "working from home" that day to hopefully get it.

Interested to see how the QC is on these displays compared to the 1440/165hz displays, I remember hearing of dirt in the screens and seeing bad uniformity, hopefully that's not the case for these displays.

Does the monitor support HLG HDR? (You can test it out by seeing if YouTube HDR works).

Updating drivers now....I have to say, this is a very enjoyable display!

So crisp, the AG is not bad...I would prefer glossy, but its not bad....you can really enjoy the resolution.... but its not letting me get that 144hz even though I enabled it on the display.....gonna try a reboot.....ugghhh running Windows 8.1, probably gonna have to upgrade to W10 for this hahaha

Nope, still can't get 144hz... I have an older Titan X Pascal, so probably gonna have to flash it like Linus was saying....anybody see any more information about that???

I have only scratched the surface of options on this display....still in SDR 4k120hz mode.
I played a round of BF1 and the refresh + 4k was awesome!
This thing looks dead sexy on my desk.....I gotta clean up the area now lol

As i recall he said you needed the newest Win 10 Update to use HDR, plus 1080ti with firmware update, but i don't think he specifically said that you needed it for 144Hz.
