On July 31st it was reported that HBO had "recently experienced a cyber incident, which resulted in the compromise of proprietary information." Now the hackers have launched their website called WinterLeak, where they claim to have stolen 1.5 terabytes of data, and have uploaded it for anyone to download. In an email to Mashable, someone claiming to be the attacker stated "[We] have access to their Internal Network, Emails, technical platforms, and database and got precious stuff that blaze your eyes."

While having GoT hacked and released early is newsworthy, I honestly do not think that it matters nearly as much as the claimed accounts and databases that have possibly been compromised, or the claim that the hackers continue to have access. While HBO is downplaying the event, it will be interesting to see what happens from here.

The uploaded data what hackers claim includes unreleased episode 3 and 4 of popular TV series Games of Thrones Season 7 and its script, episode 1, 2 and 3 of Ballers’s season 3, Episode 1 and 2 of upcoming comedy series Barry, unreleased Episode 2 and 3 of Room 104 TV series, episode 2 of Season 2 of TV series Insecure.

Yeah I keep seeing this pop up at all the news content meta scrapers like hardocp the last few days but it's pretty clear that there were no actual episode leaks for GOT. I honestly don't give a shit about any of the rest of the leaks as I have HBO and enjoying watching their content as it's broadcast.

I'm still waiting for the one where they attack the wrong thing and end up mysteriously dead at 3 am.

If only it were still online somewhere! I cant wait for episode 4!
Actually looks like I can and will have to.

Wait a second, what episode are we currently on in GoT? So much has been happening this season, each episode is like their own book.

Is this #fakenews or is the episode leaked.
Cmon don't use hashtags, at least here. It's only cool on the news sites.

Sounds like they "haven't released it". Pay 11.99 for 2.5 months and you get HBO to watch live or when you want on demand!

I already pay. But i would take the episode early. Can I pay HBO more to have it now?

So it's fake news. I guess I can wait like 72 hours if I have to.

I made the mistake of binge watching the 5th season when it leaked. It was awesome at first but then having to wait 2 months to finish it up really sucked. I think I'll just wait it out. I mean, it's just 1 episode and it's airing in 2 days.

Why?
Are non-government hackers hacking government secrets, and misdeeds?
Oh yeah, that gets you killed /faster/ I guess. hehe.

Lesson for all media companies I think is... if you make billions on a property don't be yelling quite so publicly and demonizing your fans as "pirates". HBO has annoyed plenty of folks that would now love nothing more then to crack their security and give them something to really cry about. lol

I would expect before the end of this GOT season to see a few more hacking reports... and likely more then a few DOS attacks on HBO services. Companies like HBO should have learned by now if you want to fight piracy do it on the quite like, arrest some website owners, sue some more... but don't go on public tirades unless you want every script kiddy in the world targeting your severs.

I disagree. HBO has also been providing folks with more ways to connect to their content and not have to pay a fortune to do so. One of the reasons I keep my HBO subscription is because they have produced quality content and they have at least been more willing to offer solutions to customers.

For their US customers anyway. In Canada the only legal way to watch GOT when its new is to pay over $100 for all the cable packages you need in order to earn the right to pay HBO a sub fee. If HBO now was an option here I would pay them no issue, I would likely even keep it year round and not just during the GOT runs. However its not an option for me... and neither is paying for shit like CNN and A&E so I can unlock the premium package options that include HBO.

I have spent close to 400 bucks buying the previous GOT seasons on blu... for HBO to call me a pirate for not wanting to pay $150+ a month to bell for a bunch of crap that has nothing to do with HBO. Or skip the internet for 6 months while I patiently wait for their blu release. Pisses me off frankly. I can fully understand why plenty of "hacker" types would target them. They have tried to have the best of both worlds in most markets... signing BS local exclusives with companies like Bell in Canada who can extort customers and use GOT to drive their own cable sales. Yet claiming its "easier then ever" to get our stuff legal like you nasty pirates. Screw them. Honestly I doubt I buy the last 2 season on Blu, until HBO offers their streaming service in Canada without the bell tax... I honestly feel dirty having the previous seasons on my shelf. lol ;)

Fuck these hackers, I'll watch these shows when HBO is ready to release them. It's a freaking show people, it's not like we're going to learn of some government hidden alien conspiracy.

So it's been nearly a month and no "leaks" from the supposed hack. They're either too scared to release anything or full of shit. GOT season ends next week guys, you better do something before you lose all your bargaining power.
