AMD Radeon RX Vega GPU Specs and Pricing Revealed

I frankly could care less about power consumption. It's not like I'm gaming 24/7 running it full bore all the time. I mean, yeah, it's GOOD if it's less, but I don't consider it a game breaker.

And my dead horse to beat, a FreeSync monitor is going to save you $200+ on the total gaming package. That's what's kept me from dropping dimes on a 1080, I really really don't want to spend the money on Gsync.

Here's the only thing I don't get. RX 580's are like $350 and out of stock everywhere...are we really going to see a 1070 competitor released at $399...and not jacked up to $599??

jesus effing christ, I have not paid attention to actual gpu prices but just went to check newegg, the cheapest lowly rx 580 was 319, cheapest 1070 was 470... and the cheapest 1080 that is not open box is 509...

There is literally zero reason to buy a 1070 for gaming now at those prices. Literally zero reason. And over 300 dollars for an rx 580? At least the new supply from amd ought to help put some downward pressure on some of those gpu prices.

Sad indeed. My standard 290 is getting long in tooth(not that I game much anymore) but I guess I will wait it a bit more. Not impressive AMD not one bit.

If the vega 56 does slightly better than 1070 at 225w, it definitely worth getting. Single card for 1440p and xfire for 4k freesync style.

Intel Market Cap = 170 billion
Nvidia Market Cap = 97 billion
AMD Market cap = 13 billion.

Everybody expects products from AMD to beat Intel or Nvidia. The math, in this economic world shows that AMD does not have the strenght to do so. So, basically what AMD does is preety awesome. I meen to scare Intel the way they did with Ryzen and to be able to somehow keep the pace with nVidia is great. I meen, yes, nvidia at this point edges out, but AMD does not allow them to sleep.

How is AMD not in the black? I don't get it. Every miner and their momma is buying every AMD card they can find.

Cause they are only making x supply of cards, That 30% marketshare is what AMD is basing its supply on. Not on miners, miners might stop mining a month from now, or week from now, mining market is not stable.

Yes, marketshare is nice but In the end its about how much money you're making. If you sell every card you make you're doing well.

Well they are heavily bundling and didn't release numbers. I think, unfortunately, that says everything we need to know. If you can take advantage of the bundles it's probably a good deal. Pricing is ok. If it had come out in October or whenever it was supposed to it would have been a lot better but even then the power numbers continue to disappoint.

AMD really needs a new more power efficient Arch... and to get in with the machine learning crowd. I just bought a 1070 and 1050ti for some linux machine learning machines (at inflated prices no less) as nvidia is really the only player in that market. There are some opencl ports/modules but it always feels like an after thought. Everybody just assumes you are using CUDA. I know AMD has less market cap but they really need to decide to invest more heavily into GPU's or cut their losses.

What do you run on those Linux machines? I'm just curious, I see the phrase "machine learning" thrown around a lot of have no practical experience with what it means.

Thank you

And nV is selling all the 1070's, 1060's they can make too, not only that the 1080's aren't bad either at certain coins as is the 1080ti. Not the typical Alt coins but other alt coins, all which AMD isn't that as good it. CUDA miners even though only came out this year are better optimized than the Open CL miners!

So now, lets see, if both nV and AMD are selling out all their cards, marketshare doesn't shift, which is ok, and when the bottom falls out, from mining ETH, AMD cards will be put on to the market, nV cards can still go over to other coins if those other coins are just as profitable, which they should be. Why get rid of an income source when ya just have to switch over to another alt coin? With AMD cards, the options are more limited now, because the CUDA miners are there. And when those AMD cards hit the used market, it creates problems selling new cards for AMD. Same thing with nV cards too, but if nV gets their next gen cards out prior to the fall, it won't matter. AMD on the other hand well theirs will unless small Vega is a big improvement over Polaris, not going to do too much. And looking at big Vega, does it look like small Vega will improve that much over Polaris?
