AMD RX Vega FreeSync vs NVIDIA GTX 1080 TI G-Sync Coming Soon

Above 60hz, freesync "feels" smoother
Below 60hz, Gsync "feels" smoother

I would love to have a $300ish 4k monitor that would gsync from 24-72hz.

IF you tested without freesync/Gsync the 20% increase on ti would be noticeable, but testing with freesync and Gsync I think to the eye it will not be "so" noticeable.

We will have to wait an see if that is right I guess :)

So any anomalies in the OS, the finger pointing goes straight at you.
Trust and verify...wait, don't trust and load your own UEFI, OS, and Drivers. ;) And GPU for that matter.

Why the 1080Ti? shouldn't this be compared to the 1080 (the way AMD did it)? Unless ..
Because I wanted to. AMD wanted me to use a 1080.

You already have an RX Vega GPU?
AMD hand delivered it Saturday morning, and took it with them Saturday evening. So, yes, and no.

Does this mean AMD actually provided [H] with a sample? Have they abandoned their cherry picking ways?
See above. I fully expect for [H] and AMD to work together on this launch.

Best card from both manufacturers?
See above.

ok insanity aside if they *WANT* this compared to the 1080 that means pricing should fall in line around current 1080 pricing correcto?

AMD has to undercut similar performance Nvidia GPU's. It's most likely 10% behind a GTX 1080 and priced like a 1070 would be my guess.

It would be interesting to determine what is "better". Will the comparison also include the old "V-Sync" as well?

is the driver the card using the same version as the VEGA Frontier Edition ? were you told to use a newer/unreleased driver for the test?

because you wanted to or because the price range puts it there :) ?
Because I wanted to.

This is awesome.
This is far from a full-on end-all be-all look at RX Vega. Just a quick blind test we did because we had the opportunity and I thought it would be a good look at G-Sync vs. FreeSync.

I do not know. I was not given access to the driver package. That was the only thing that I did not "touch."

G-sync/Freesync the hardest shit to promote for the tech companies next to HDR. Thing being only really experienced in person, hard for an internet promoted centric product

Jesus Christ, they're still recycling that generic reference 390 heatsink design from 2015 that went onto be the polaris reference.

Properly Implemented HDR using 10bit color and 1000nit backlight, as defined in ITU-R Recommendation BT.2020 is almost as much of a visual wow factor as moving from DVD to BluRay. Problem is getting your hands on something that can actually do HDR per ITU-R BT.2020. At least it is part of the UHD spec, so eventually we'll get there.

I really hope RX Vega is comparable to a 1080 Ti, I recently upgrade from a RX 480 to a couple 1080 Ti's for VR use, leaving my poor FreeSync monitor to sit around and do nothing.

Looking forward to this. I kinda assumed this would be a paper launch, but maybe there will be some availability afterall.

Any teases as to when the editing might be done and the video up? I'll admit to being very intrigued about seeing it. :)

Agreed - unless it's an implication of Vega performance :p

Kyle compares based on pricing tiers. If AMD was smart they would have priced it close to it's performance. If not, it's a dead duck.

The blower setup has me worried. It's always been in the @#$@# bad department. It's not even a DWDI this time.

Stop teasing us Kyle !! We can all guess how this will work out for the RX Vega !!

This has nothing to do with pricing. Pricing on the RX Vega has not been shared with me.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to seeing it. Good luck with the mobo review and don't work too hard, hope you and your family are doing well. :)

This sounds very intriguing. Looking forward to the results!
