In what is being described as something out of Westworld, Disney is building an immersive Star Wars hotel that will allow its guests to live in the franchise’s fantasy world through attractions such as a Millennium Falcon ride and Cantina (which may actually have booze). Visitors will allegedly be part of a “story” during their stay and be surrounded by staff pretending they are Jedi, ship crew, and so on. That actually sounds overwhelming, but I do like the idea of waking up and looking out into space.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

Disney knows how to entertain. This should be good, but my guess it will be a $450-800 a night experience. So.... go stay at the hotels and skip Disney World?

Kind of reminds me of the Star Trek hotel that used to exist in Vegas - of course I didn't reach 21 before they shut it down. Can't wait to tell the wife where we're going for our 10th anniversary.

Yup, most definitely won't be the "economy" Disney hotels.

That said, the one time I went to Disney World, I stayed in New Orleans themed one, which was a mid-tier place, was like $130/night off season but it was during a time when you got "Free" dining in the park. I ran the numbers, it was actually worth it rather than staying in the "No questions asked" motel outside the park. But anyways, one of the things we did is we took the bus to the Wilderness lodge to see what it was all about, we ate dinner at the Polynesian resort and looked around, we went got off the monorail at the Grand Floridian to see what $400/night in the off season got you, and overall we managed to see everything except the insides of rooms, which any online search can easily show you they big difference is themes, but for the most part they're all the same size. So yeah, I suspect people will end up staying at the cheapy disney hotels, then going over to the Star Wars themed one to look at all the nifty stuff.

Star Trek hotel? You mean the Hilton? It has the Star Trek experience, but the whole hotel wasn't Star Trek based. I will say that the "experience" was worth the ticket price at the time. Basically was a big motion flight simulator, which dropped you off on the Enterprise-D command deck, then popped you out in the Star Trek themed gift shop, it was fun :)

I went about 15 years ago and the experience was pretty cheesy. I'd expect Disney to do a much better job.

Yeah, I went about 20 years ago and it was a higher order of cheese, but it was at a hotel quite a bit off the main strip, and compared to many other things there the price wasn't horrible, especially if you are a Star Trek fan. I think we had some 2 for 1 coupon or something that made it like $10 a person. Hell they charged more to go see some fricking dolphins and the tigers from the magic show (before it was removed), and that $10 lasted me a whole lot more than it does at any table in that town :D

Ah, yes. That's what I meant. I had always thought it was a hotel experience (not an entire hotel).

Smart moves with the hotel and meals. That saves a lot of time and money. I really do enjoy disney, but only in the winter and off season. All of those damn strollers. It's a child nightmare. Off-season is tolerable!
