That would be nice. Might be a possibility in the future with all the pressure put on by the cheaper Chinese 4k VR. This might be a price point that might appeal to a lot of people who couldn't afford or justify the $500-600 tag.
Maybe the price drop is a signal that it's replacement with an alternate resolution is coming out soon.

Damn, I just bought it for $600 and $150 dollar gift card. I guess I have to pack it all up and return it and rebuy it lol

Depending where you got it from and how long they might credit to you the difference. Worth asking before packing everything up.

Isn't one of the VR pieces locked to its own game store? Isn't it this one?
I think it's the other way around (the VR game store for Oculus is locked to this hardware) however I do believe you can run any other VR software on it as well.
From my firsthand Demos, I thought the Vive did have a slight visual lead, but for first gen hardware that 's likely soon to be improved upon, I'd lean toward the less expensive option, whoever provides it.

Smells like...desperation. The last price cut didnt change the math, so now they are scrapping bottom to just stay in the game. No thanks, I will wait for Vive 2.0...or 1.5 with the wireless add on.

If you have not tried it before I would suggest giving it a shot, the oculus works great and the motion controllers are awesome. resolution could be a bit better but it gets lost when your playing a game in vr.

Tempting but I'm still holding out for 2nd gen units. IMHO 4k screen is a minimum requirement.

Next generation VR is still a good year away at least. I for one am glad I jumped in with both feet as to gen 1 consumer VR. (Both Vive and Rift). Resolution doesn't bother me at all and while more of it would be nice, graphics cards, even top end ones, can't handle 4k VR yet... The Rift does Steam VR just fine and the Touch controllers are much nicer than the Vive wands IMHO. The Rift bundle for $400 is pretty amazing for what you get. Wireless for the Vive is overated. Still have to wear heavy battery packs to power it all which defeats the ergonomic gains of going wireless... Not to mention worries about battery levels, recharging, and limited gaming time per charge.

You clearly haven't played something in roomscale vr. That first time you get tangled up in that cord and almost trip and fall is going to change your calculus on the importance of wireless.

Well, hate to disappoint you, but I actually have... and lots. Yes, I've dealt with cable tangles. You learn to cope and deal with it. You become used to moving the cable with you and avoiding it. Yes, wireless would be nice, but you then have to carry batteries around and there are wires connecting the headset to the batteries. You have to deal with the added weight of the batteries and they aren't trivial as you have to power the entire HMD and the wireless transceiver.

Rift and Vive still have rather disappointing visuals compared to PSVR in my opinion. A lot less screen door and optical artifacts with the latter. Hopefully gen 2 will fix things, or someone will hack the PSVR to be functional on PC, whichever is sooner. But, at $400 it's worth it to have some skin in the game either way.

Let's see low sales, Betheda on their back, first price cut didn't t work lets try going to 399 usd same as PSVR. smacks of desperation to me.....

I have a vive and bought one, I still love the vive but VR in general is still just awesome. My thought is I might be able to setup another VR setup to lan with friends in VR. at $400 thats basically what the original price point was supposed to be. Totally cool move on oculus, if you guys havent tried it, check out Echo Arena (works great with revive), totally worth getting a VR headset for in either camp.

Was a difficult decision between this and PSVR. Purchased. List of top 10 games to own?

Well, the Rift already comes with a bunch of free games to include:

Robo Recall
Unspoken
Quill
Medium
Dead and Buried
Dragon Front
Lucky’s Tale
Toy Box

There’s also some really great free VR games/programs out there to include:

Google Earth VR
The Lab
Accounting
Rec Room

As to purchases, it really depends on the kind of games you like... sims, FPS, puzzlers, RPGs, etc.

Here’s a solid list of 10 games that are a bit of everything and definitely worth owning:

Elite Dangerous
Superhot
Arizona Sunshine
Raw Data
The Climb
I Expect You To Die
Blaze Rush
Universe Sandbox 2
Onward
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades

And I would add one more, but it’s not out until July 20th, and that would be Lone Echo. (Very highly recommended!)

I picked up the bundle, couldn't resist at this price.

Elite Dangerous is looking like one of the best VR experiences around if your into that sort of thing,

Now I just need to upgrade my graphics card.

I understand it's much better on Rift, I've got a Vive and the text makes my eyes bleed. I was hoping they'd have fixed it by now but while it's better, it's still shit.

Hmm, Amazon has the Rift + Touch + $100 Amazon gift card for $400.

Too bad I ordered from Newegg earlier with no gift card, amazing deal for those waiting to jump in.

Yes, I just got off the phone with Amazon 15 minutes ago and canceled my original order for the one with the gift card. ;) Thanks for posting this for the guys and gals!

Fuck me - I was sifting through all the deals earlier yesterday when news of this hit. Was looking at amazon/newegg/best buy, I said screw it and did local pickup with BB, could have saved a little with newegg and not paid tax.

Pissed though they threw in that $100 gift card on top after I ordered it from best buy.

To be honest though -- I never gave a hoot about VR, never tried it, and when I finally got my setup running I was blown away with just some of the basic demos/tutorials. Finally putting my 1080Ti to work :). Granted a free $100 amazon gift card would be nice, but I'm impressed so much with the system I'm not mad enough to return to BB or anything. I did however get a copy of Eve: Valkarie for free though with my BB bundle. takes some of the sting away.

So you're really liking it huh? Any first impressions?

Whattt??? The bundle with the gift card was $499 when I ordered at 9 PM, and was still that price at midnight. When did this change?

I wonder if I could contact support to get the gift card thrown in. For some reason I doubt it.

Too bad oculus is owned by FB. That's a definite no-go for me.

The Market has spoken. If this does not put Oculus on the map, nothing will. Hope this does not prevent the industry from continuing developement at this pricepoint. Last year state of the art was $800, now it's $400. Good for market penetration but next time around I'll wait a bit before jumping in.

I bit on the amazon deal. I was going to buy from my local BB and trade in a laptop to put $75 towards it, with the amazon deal it seemed like a no brainer. This will be my second rift, I enjoyed it the first time but didn't seem worth the $600 and I had to wear glasses, this time I'll buy the VR lens lab inserts and the net $300 price tag makes it much easier to swallow.
