Steam Summer Sale is live

Have you tried editing your preferences and uncheck early access?
Why no sir I have not, because that's not exactly something that Steam has been forthcoming with in letting me know is possible. But if I can figure it out later, I thank you more than I can express.

Oh and I'm sure everyone has it, but Portal 2 for $1.99, seriously, if you haven't played it spend the $2 and be done with it, it's worth $2 regardless of your income level.

Lol, I actually figured out how when I checked out the "Quests" associated with the Summer Sale Sticker bullshit. One of the quests actually rewards you for opening your Steam preferences page, and gives you a link to click on that directs you straight to it.

I think it's a fairly new thing that came about with the retooling of what games get "recommended" to you and the Steam Direct launch.

I don't mind so much seeing "Early Access" stuff, I just don't want it mixed in with everything else where just on a quick glance there's no way to tell it's early access. Yeah I know if you hover over something one of the tags will say it (hopefully) or when you click on the item you can see it as such, but I just want to see actual completed things that are on sale, not alpha/beta versions that are on sale, you want that on sale great have an entirely new section near the bottom "Early Access sales". I mean FFS how many steam sales was Prison Architect featured? :D I mean don't get me wrong it's a fun little game but that thing was in early access forever.

But yeah great, tell people via your sticker system, way to push to the forefront of letting your customers know what they can do!

Its been a while since I partook in a Steam seasonal sale. Had no idea they got rid of flash sales. I was legit looking around for 3 days to see when a flash sale would occur.

Prices are also consistent throughout the sale. I remember prices changing on games throughout the duration of the sale.

I did end up getting TW:Warhammer. Haven't seen a price lower than that.

Aside from that, don't really see many 75% or more sales on decent games.

Bit underwhelming, but devs gotta eat.

I highly recommend:

Full Throttle Remastered
Day of the Tentacle Remastered
Sonic Generations
Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed.

One of my favorite things on the internet is the steam summer sale :) I have issues.

Is mgv worth it ? I haven't played since the original on the ps. It was one of my for games for the system.

If you loved the first one how does this one compare? Also hollow knight looks really cool but is it really metroid style game? Witch is best out of axiom verge, hollow knight, and hyper light drifter?

One thing that people might not be aware of is if you have previous games in a series, you get a discount if you buy the bundle pack. For example I picked up the Portal bundle and paid $1.50 vs the $2 for Portal 2 on its own. Its not always lower but often can be.

Confirmed.

My AoE Legacy bundle with just 1 DLC from AoE2 HD is cheaper than the DLC on its own.

Not by a lot mind you, but it's still cheaper.

Same with Deus Ex. Buying the bundle with just MD & Season pass was cheaper than buying MD & Season pass on their own.

For pinball fans, season 4 of Pinball Arcade (includes Adam's Family) is 75% off
Also Pro Pinball Ultra: Timeshock is 50% off (I've never seen it on sale before) for 8 bucks

I've got 3 seasons of PA, and the single table High Speed 2: The Getaway. I've played with Future pinball. I just love pinball.

What do you think of this Pro Pinball Ultra? I've never even heard of it.

I haven't bought this version yet. The original version of pro pinball was considered the best simulator ever. However, it appears that they're not updating this much (if at all) anymore, so if there are issues, they may not be fixed. For me the price is right, so I'll pick it up tonight or tomorrow.

The fact that this thread is only two pages shows how much ending flash sales killed the excitement of the Steam events. Now you just pick up stuff on day one and forget about it.

It's totally true. I will say this though, I really like the return policy. Every sale I buy a couple of games that I end up returning because I didn't like them or I had a technical problem. I bought hollow knight due to the reviews but the gameplay was unusable with a keyboard. Played for 7 minutes and said hell no and got my money back.

It's kind of how like JC Penny suffered when they went to an everyday low price rather than marking up the prices really high then running "% off coupon" sales. The policy is actually more consumer friendly--the prices are lower and you can get the low price at any time. Consumer psychology is weird. People get feel more excited when its a limited time sale when rationally speaking the other policy is more consumer friendly.

So THAT's what happened. Why did they nix it?

They really must not be paying attention to the forums cause this is all ive ever hear the past 2 years now.. like what are they doing??

Hello, its like only logical that if people need to visit your store multipal times a day, the odds are much higher that they will spend a crapload more money then just stopping by once.

A lot easier to binge spend on $5 games. Now - there's no reason for me to stop by. I've purchased exactly 0 games this sale season.

Steam Refunds killed it! Now no more Flash Sales, Community Sales, Daily Sales, Voting Sales!

I've been earning the cards & selling them. Today, it said my account is currently unable to use the community market...

not sure why.

More like there's no point in posting what the flash sales are, because the sales are what they are.
Tons of fun and excitement before

Or you could do what I've done for years and just check https://isthereanydeal.com/ before buying.

Everyone I know has tons of games they've bought and never played. I buy less, because I just don't need more games that I don't have time to play. Plus I know that the game will be on sale again at some point. Maybe this summer. Maybe in November or December, but whenever it is, it'll be on sale and if I think I'm going to play it in the next 6 months, I'll buy it. If not, I'll wait. Those flash sales generally repeated every 6 months, so once you realized that, there wasn't a rush to buy the game, even if it was 75% or 90% off.

Some of the classics are the lowest ever checking isthereanydeal.com. If you want an older title you might want to price check because it could be really cheap.

Picked up the Quake Collection, HL1 Anthology and Doom 3 for under $10.

Gamersgate has the Unreal Deal Pack for $3.60 which was up on slickdeals. That deal is up for a few more days past the Steam sale.

Steam must have missed that memo about how people will very often buy something not because they need/want it but because they perceive it to be a deal too good to pass up. This is what flash sales did.

"Yeah sure I might not play that game now, but look at the price!!! That's too good to pass up if I do eventually play it 9 months from now"

Do you have evidence that their sales have gone down? What about profits? There's nothing that prevents a company from putting their game on sale for 90% off. They've decided not to, and if that was negatively impacting their bottom line, I've got to believe they'd lower prices.

Sales now = dead.

The two games I want are still not low enough yet for my cheap-ass during sales. Which are Civ VI and DX:MD. Looking for $20 or less for "complete" games.
Perhaps after they are both closer to two years old.

Fallout 4 - the basic $15 one(maybe NEXT sale the season pass will be low enough to consider), Abzu, and Galciv 3... that was it for me this sale.

Shadow of Mordor for $4 or whatever was a pretty awesome deal. I already had it, but that was a must-buy if you didn't.

This was one I regret not getting, until I noticed it is still on sale until the 10th! I might just have to grab though to be honest I dont see myself having the time to enjoy it - for $4 I dont think I care

I want to replay Shadows of Mordor now. :p I paid full price back in the day and never regretted it.

How much was DX:MD with the season pass for you?

I got the DX:MD and SP season pass for less than equivalent of $20 (I bought the DX series bundle, which discounted all of the other DX's I had and came up cheaper than DX:MD & Season pass deal on their own), and the original game was $60 for me when it was released, so I am wondering if region pricing is again at work.

Also, I am not a fan of flash sales, as my experience have often dictated that the games I want flashed never appears when I am free (steam is blocked at work) and the flash I can actually buy are for games I have no interest in.

I'm in favour of a high baseline discount than a lower baseline with flashes, also gives me more time to think about them.

I literally fire this game up for 10 minutes at a time of slicing Orc heads off.

You don't need to invest much time into the game, just treat yourself to some of the absolute best combat any game could offer!

humble monthly for 12 bucks will get you Dark Souls 2, for the next day. will be more games just don't know which till tomorrow lol, Never did the humble monthly before so will see what I get lol

I think it was $30 iirc and $20 for base.
