I'm going to build a new computer soon and looking for a new monitor as well. Current setup is an i7 2600 / 16GB ram, and 750 ti. Running a 27in Dell and 2x 24in Samsung curved monitors, all 1080p.

New build is going to be a Ryzen 1800x, 32GB ram and a 1080 ti. I've been looking at a 34in but I don't really want a curved display. I do some gaming but not a lot. Mainly Cities Skylines and a few older games. I also spend a lot of time in Excel and AutoCAD 2018.

Any suggestions for a monitor? I'd like to stay under $800 or so and no smaller than a 27in.

VIOTEK GN34C, 34" 3440x1440, 100Hz ~$550-$650

SAMSUNG C32HG70, $699: 32" 2560x1440, 144Hz, LMB. It is curved, but with a scanning backlight it will decimate the competition on the motion blur tests. The smaller FG70s are currently the best 1080p gaming dispalys on sale, the HG70s bring the quantum dot + scanning backlight magic to 2560x1440

Curved displays are fine for games and such, but when I am working in CAD it makes the drawing look strange. I tried to get use to it but couldn't and ended up getting a 27in flat for that. Even a slight curve just makes everything look off.

I have a 30 inch Dell curved 4k monitor at work and a 27 inch 4K monitor at home. Dell has some of the best IPS panels on the market and they game well.

HP Spectre 32. It's a glossy 4K monitor with the same panel as the BL3201PT. The Spectre is the ONLY glossy 4K IPS.

Too bad it has those awful side speakers that make it useless for multi-monitor :(

Yeah, I also hate the side speakers. Since literally no other glossy 4K IPS exists I forced myself to deal with them. We seriously need companies like Dell and BenQ to start making glossy versions of all their monitors. The Spectre has the exact same panel as the BL3201PT so you have a "professional grade" glossy monitor which is rare. Most "professional" monitors are matte.

How about the HP Omen 32" 1440p 75Hz? You could get 2 for under $800.

Not 4k, but the real estate may work for you?
