Don't know, part of me want to avoid the OEM problem all together and just go for the box versions, but the OEM version is literally peanuts compared to the box that the other half of me is saying it won't hurt to try...

Yes, you can. If it's an original purchased retail copy, not an upgraded version and you are the original owner. At least in the US.

If you're the first licenced user, highly unlikely considering the users selling licences on these forums.
I was just pointing out the terms. I'm not trying to be the Windows licensing police. It's pretty obvious that Microsoft doesn't care about certain breaking of the formal rules because well, that's more Windows users.
Believe me, they do. I've seen many system builders go down in flames as a result of MS spies purchacing PC's and checking the history of the licence. There would undoubtedly be people on these forums that build systems for others at times, sometimes people they don't know personally.
If you want Windows and it's such an outstanding product, justifying $150.00 for a licence shouldn't be an issue.
So if it's worth $150 then it's clearly worth $20! All commercial software gets pirated, that's a law of physics.
good those cheap bastards. if you selling systems as a retailer you HAVE to follow the rules. ms isn't so concerned with one random home user.Believe me, they do. I've seen many system builders go down in flames as a result of MS spies purchacing PC's and checking the history of the licence.
Mustn't be that good if you're not willing to pay full retail. Surely Windows is worth $150.00, just think of the support you'll get.
Purchase of dubious licence resellers on forums = Buyer beware. I wouldn't be advising people to do such an activity on a public forum.
The sellers here at [H] selling those Windows 7 licenses have what we Americans call "a proven track record" so it's a non-issue, can't speak for how things happen down in Australia or wherever else other people might be, but it's a safe bet to get one from one of the people here at least from the buyer reports I've seen over the past few years.
As stated, if you're building a PC for yourself and believe that Windows isn't worth $150.00 (don't care about your opinion Heatlesssun), than purchase your licence from anyone you wish.
Like I said before, things are different here in America.

This has nothing to with your opinion or mine and clearly Kyle & Co. ok it here, so that's the only opinion that matters in this case. And you see these kinds of deals here and lots of other places all of the time. I don't claim to have any idea what's going on with all of them but I have to figure that site owners aren't putting themselves at risk and are vetting this stuff.
And you honestly believe the purchase of a Windows 10 licence for $17.00 is legit! Suit yourself.
It is, that's the point you keep just purposely ignoring so, as usual, I bid you and your keyboard jockeying adieu once more as yet another thread turns into whatever this one has rapidly turned into.
It's not about what I believe, I'm no expert in grey market software sales. I'm just saying that the mods here and other sites much check this stuff out because I doubt they'd want to take the risk. If you want to argue that point, that's fine, it's got nothing to do with me.
Do they?
If these sales weren't legit then they are exposing members and themselves to scams so yeah.

And what about sites like Kinguin, do you suppose those keys are legit?
Probably not. But slightly more legitimate since they at least send you the COA (or at least a picture of it). You know you are getting a recycled license instead of one from some key gen. Against the licensing agreement?
Also to the guy who's uncle allows him to use the volume license from a university, I hope it's really ok since Microsoft checks activation numbers when they audit.

Some goof FUD going on here for sure. Look into the company "Discount Licensing". There are indeed ways to legally transfer and resell just about any type of MS software license. Even large companies on Spiceworks have bought licenses this way and then passed a full Microsoft compliance audit with no problem. They are also a registered MS reseller/partner. Some of yall' simply are spouting off things you have no idea about. Because you can read a license agreement does not mean you have the legal knowledge to truly interpret how that agreement has to work within the laws. Just because they state something in a license agreement does not necessarily mean that its legal. Microsoft nor any other company can write their own laws. Will they do everything they can to prevent it, of course, and they will even resort to scare tactics but they might not have a legal leg to stand on. You can get 100% legitimate and completely legal licenses on the secondary market for far less than you can through normal reseller channels.
There's plenty of Windows license sales on this forum and the mods don't shut them down.
Sarcasm is to cough when you get the mandatory anal probe at the airport.Like I said before, things are different here in America.

for the Fall Creator's Update they really should consolidate the Control Panel and Settings...they're redundant in a lot of ways and whatever is missing could easily be placed into Settings
what happened to the 'Driver Updates' section in Windows Update?...before you could view your 'Update History' and it would have 3 separate sections- Quality Updates (main Windows patches), Other Updates (Software Removal Tool etc) and Driver Updates (where it would list the video card drivers etc if installed through WU)...I no longer see that Driver Updates section
Because the creators update is more about removing as opposed to creating.
