PCIE Bifurcation

I am using KVM and iommu works splendidly. Both of my GPU's end in different IOMMU groups.
I dont see why there should be issues with ESXI. Do you have the lates 3.64 bios?

I thought the latest was 3.63? what's in 3.64 that's new?
 
On (I believe) page 9, people mentioned that it is possible to use bifurcation on z97e-itx/ac, using 1.50a bios. Where can I get this bios version?
 
Update: I got a new UEFI from ASRock (3.64L) which finally allows both GTX1080's to work under Windows 10! I have been using the system for 2 days now and appears to be rock solid. Now solving the Vt-d issue under Linux is all that remains - I posted on the NVidia Linux driver forum, let's see if they are as helpful..

Oh sweet, I'm having issues with dual Titan Xps under Windows 10 as well. It just freezes when the driver is installed. I'll send an email to them as well asking for the 3.64. I'm currently on 3.63.
 
I bought one of C_Payne's riser/splitters with the intent on using it with ESXi, passing through 2 HBA cards to 2 different VM's. I haven't gotten around to testing it yet, but will reply back when I do.

FYI C_Paynes board worked fine on my supermicro motherboard (both devices passed through in esxi).

But due to the lack of space in my case, there wasn't enough room for extender ribbon cables so I had to look for the ameri-rack splitter. I found some for sale here if anyone else is also looking for one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y5LBY8G

Edit: Its motherboard is proprietary. Not 100% sure if it is utilizing bifurcation.

It has been mentioned before, but MSI is bifurcating a (lengthened) ITX pre-built system featuring SLI 1080ti graphics cards.

Hi guys, I have been following this thread for 1 and a half year now, I still don't understand where I can purchase a working pcie bifurcation board for ryzen x370 (does have support for pcie bifurcation out the box). Is C_Pyane still selling his pcie bifurcation boards? on page 11 someone said that amerirack does not sale to consumers anymore. so, where can I get a pcie bifurcation board? or at least a schematic that I can manufacture?

I have two rigth turn PCB's left... i would like to find out if its working on ryzen.
I have to solder components first. PM if u r interested.

I'm curious to see how you managed to put a watercooled SLI into 9L watercooled !

I searched for all possible solutions in CAD and the smallest I can manage is 11.5L.
With two dual-slot GPU though.
 
Seems that Ameri-rack does sell them directly when you contact them. They gave me a quote and said they will send a link to pay on. Not sure what happened with that one person they wouldn't sell to...
I told them I wanted to buy them for ITX builds and asked the cost and how to purchase.

If you guys still have problems, I could possibly do a group by? I really don't like the hassle of mailing things out though tbh.
 
I'm currently looking to run 2 980ti's in Bifurcation. However I'm having the hardest time trying to find a riser/splitter that will:
1: Allows for 4 slots (Just the spacing not actually 4 PCIe slots)
2: Allows for vertical installation of the cards, SLI bridge up

I'm going to be trying this with the good old Asrock X99 ITX board.
Anyone have any ideas where I might find such a riser/splitter?
 
Are you running those bad boys in SLI ? Does SLI work correctly ?

It's my second successful bifurcation attempt (previous one with a GTX 970 and a GTX 750 Ti and the Amerirack riser) but I never had the chance to try a SLI.
I'm going to use that setup for 3D rendering.

From what I've read, SLI doesn't work very well though.

Thank you for the reply aquelito. I'll try and do some testing on 1080ti's and some z97, z270 and x370 motherboards in the next few days with SLI. I'll report back what I find.

aquelito, how loud are those single slot GTX 1070's under load? This seems like it could be a great build if they're not too loud!
 
I don't know as the fan of both GPU ramp up and stay stuck at 1600 RPM in Windows, whether it's idle or under load.
At 1600 RPM it's not that silent. Could be worse though.

There is a French guy making quality custom WB - cheaper than EK ;) I'm planning to put the bottom one under water.

1070 are really great for what I intend to do with them : I got both brand new for 300 €. Lots of CUDA cores for renderings.
 
@aquelito maybe if you use watercooled gpus you can add a secend dual 80mm Radiator in front. Maybe this is enought to cool both gpu and cpu, cause i think the full system will be so hot with air cooled under load.
 
I think I'll watercool the lower GPU only - as it needs to be single slot and will get hotter than the upper GPU.
The upper GPU can remain air-cooled with a nice dual-slot cooler.

With a dual-slot GPU in the upper riser slot, the volume achieved is a bit wider, due to the height increasing by 25mm.

Positive effect : with a 130mm height, I can replace the 92mm rad by a 120mm.

The new Asrock X370 ITX/ac works like a charm. I'm using the X370 board and amerirack riser.
Only problem is ... SLI doesn't work :( doesn't come up in the nVidia control panel :(

 
Yep. It works exactly as it should :)
No artefacts, no funny business :)

Mind you this was no apples to apples comparison as I only have 7700k benchmarks to compare against... and I can't be bothered to set this up on an ATX X370 board ... but the performance diff is consistent.

I haven't seen it mentioned in glancing through the thread, but has anyone used the gigabyte z170n-wifi? The product page for rev. 2.0 explicitly mentions pcie bifurcation.

I always thought it'd be cool too try dual gpu's or even a gpu and pcie ssd. But never wanted to mess with headaches of setting it up which judging by this thread there seems to be many headaches involved on bifurcation.
 
I've recently purchased the Gigabyte Z270N to test bifurcation and both cards are detected correctly.

I've recently purchased the Gigabyte Z270N to test bifurcation and its a load of crap. Doesn't detect both cards properly. I would suggest sticking to Asrock boards.

Bifurcation is only mentioned on the z170n-wifi product page, not the z270n. Maybe gigabyte removed the functionality because so few people use it?
 
Actually I stand corrected. Both cards work in the Z270N as there is a function in the bios to set 2x8 mode :)

eGPU Supporting bifurcation??? I doubt it.
