DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

Don't suppose anyone has a spare or used Dan Case a4-sfx that they are willing to sell me?, I would back the kickstarter campaign but I go to university in a couple of months and need a case small enough to fit into a backpack to take on a train.

What I meant was that no professional review which I have read mentions it. Additionally, AMDs marketing materials and speciation don't mention it.

ah I see. what chip did you have again? if its a "X" chip there is that 20c temp offset to keep in mind. so your temp is really ~60c.

No it is the 1700 so there is no offset, still prime95 for over half an hour is not that realistic a load... The real issue is getting the hot air out of the case or getting cold air to the heatsink, it really gradually climbed in temperature, a degree every few minutes... I'm thinking about flipping the fan and adding a small foam gasket to get the heat out. I think it may stabilise at a lower temperature then.

Note: If a reward is sold out we will add more rewards for the second batch that will ship two month later.

This means if we sold 1500 cases we will add another 1500 cases and s.o. But we have to split it into batches because on limited storage space.

I got the email! I'm going to splurge and get one. I currently have SG05.
I googled to find out CET means central europe time. :)
I found the price listed on first page of this thread at 230 Euros + shipping.
That leaves only one dumb question for me to ask:

Can you give a very rough guess at when they might ship to USA?
I know there are a lot of contingencies, so I wouldn't hold you to anything.
But if hypothetically the first batch sold out, when might production be finished on the first run?

dondan
How much space is there in the bottom of the case where the 92mm fan mounts are in V2, Before interfering with the GPU and PSU?

For those who are using the shrouds, are you noticing an increase in sound reflection and thus louder fan noise for a given RPM? I noticed with my shroud the noise levels that temps are lower but despite the lower fan RPM, noise reflection meant that it was still louder. Maybe the use of foam in the recent shrouds mean this is less of an issue.
I have a quality microphone on hand so I decided to follow up on this. I measured system noise with and without the fan duct to see if there was any difference.

Results:
- At low RPMs, there is an increase in noise by about 0.5-1 dB
- At high RPMs, this increase is about 1-2 dB
- There's a 3% reduction in RPM across most of the PWM range (air must be pulled through restrictive ventilation holes)

Sound Pressure Level:

Spectrum Plots:
Fan Duct, 50% PWM:

No Fan Duct, 50% PWM:

Fan Duct, 100% PWM:
03_duct_100pwm.png

No Fan Duct, 100% PWM:

So, no surprises. The fan duct causes a change in the pitch of the sound, but only a small increase in the overall sound level.

So are you planning on releasing a new version yearly? How much does shipping usually cost to california?

Also, Do most people get FE cards / Rear Exhaust Video Cards for this case?

Seems like a 1080 TI may be too much for a case this small. I'm probably going to get a $500 tier card instead, though I'm undecided on blower Vs nonref design

Man, don't tell that to my 1080TI! It works just fine and I don't want it getting any funny ideas. :D

I have an FE Ti in my Dan case and its loud as fuck but it works great and on benches I get the same numbers as published reviews. There is no issue with the riser overheating or any of that nonsense from another thread.

I recommend increasing the fan curve to improve the throttling, or getting a better cooled Ti.

You think an aftermarket, non-reference 1080 TI or GTX 1080 will be too much for the Dan A4? I really do not want to go reference blower design for the GPU as those get loud as heck during gaming.

If it can physically fit, I see no reason why not. People have been stuffing the FTW3 in there...

I don't have a real need for a m-itx case right now but maybe in a year or so I'll be ready to build something for it. Do you all think it would be worth it to get in on the kickstarter now? It's way before I need the case, but I really like it and haven't found any alternatives that are regularly produced.

The build quality is top notch, yubikey. I also don't think any of the alternatives currently being prototyped would make me regret buying into a Dan A4 SFX now. It has the most elegant design of anything here, IMHO. I kickstarted the case in June of last year, and I think the timing for the whole thing was about right. I picked out parts in early March of 2016 that were bleeding edge or coming soon, and by the time the case arrived, those parts were readily available.

Did anyone replace the "M3 Countersunk screws" for the sidepanels with Thumb screws? Preferably with some rubber between the side panel and the screw so there is no damage when tightening the side panels...

Something like this, but then with a rubber ring...

Guys, let me put the rumours to rest. There is no need to use FE cards in the dan a4. In fact it would be a big waste. Because AIB cards work fine and are not noisy. My stock FTW3 is boosting to 1911mhz under gaming loads without going lower no matter how long the session. You wont get clocks like these on an FE in the Dan A4 unless you want your GPU sounding like a jet engine

The problem comes from using a 1080Ti with a hot processor like the 7700K. The CPU overheats easily in such a case, so you need to either delid your cpu, undervolt and underclock your 7700K, or just use a 7600/7700 which should work just fine

Question: is the "MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Aero 11G OC" a good value in terms of price, performance and cooling inside the Dan Case or what could you recommend. I´ve read through the forum about others buying other than blowerstyle cards but i am quite worried about noise and heat.
Much appreciated for any suggestions!

Mind sharing if you tried doing this already. Did you get mounted properly?

Still waiting for my FTW3 to arrive. :)

OK, i just tried it. The answer as to whether it worked is yes and no. Yes because I could get one screw down using dondan's method, but not the other one. But i think the issue is because of how thick my PCIE cables are, they cause the GPU to sit in a little offset, becaused the PCIE cables are sandwiched betweeen the GPU and the PSU. So it will not be possible to get the second screw in, but I am happy it worked for the first screw

Wow the copper C7 looks really nice. Would probably save a few more degrees over the regular aluminium version. Personally I'm done with fooling around with coolers for the Dan A4, but I would like to see how it performs when it becomes available

Hi! I made an account here just for this very case :D I'm from the Philippines and this would be my first pc build in a decade as I've been using gaming laptops since I entered college for portability. It's just expensive replacing a whole system every 4-5 years so I plan on switching to pc builds again with a a small frame since I got used to laptops and I still need the portability. So I would like to ask will this be shipped to Philippines and when would be the estimate arrival? I'm due for a new unit by end of the year as my current gaming laptop is slowly dying and it's the only reason that is keeping me from surely making a pledge. By the way am just new here, thanks :D

From what I can gather, the case will not ship until next January or so, so I would say you should get it in this Kickstarter.

During the first kickstarter campaign some DAN cases were shipped to the Philippines. Therefore there is a good chance that this will be the same with the new kickstarter campaign.

You won't actually get the case for a looooong time, if the second one goes anything like the first, so yes it is worth it.

Dondan just want to ckarify if i ddcided to opted for 92mm fan does it mean im only limited to 1 drive bay then?? And btw how does the new 92mm mount point help on cooling the system??

Hmmm another question.. I plan on doing just a mid end build with it.. So my vc would be a 1050 ti. I pressume there would still a chunk of space left on it's side.. What can i put into it? Fans? I did saw one guy put an corsair aio beside his 1070 mini but am a newbie and i might not have the experience to do such build.

Yep same for me with the FTW3, fits with one screw and could probably force a second one but little need tbh. Its a good tight and secure fit already.

Just for info.

As for temps when gaming, my card is o/c to 2050 MHz (with a +72 MHZ on the GPU, and a +96MHz on the MEM, no additional Voltage besides the power/temp targets maxed, and with the fans set to the preset "Quiet" mode, I do not see any temps yet over 71 deg C.
