This is a very YMMV deal, but the entire KU line of Samsung televisions has been discontinued. They are the 2016 model and have been supplanted by the new MU series. B&M stores that carry these televisions (Walmart, Microcenter, Best Buy, Costco and others) are actively clearing these out.

A specific example is the UN55KU6300 at my local Walmart selling for $450. I was able to snag the floor model and got an additional 25% off, so my out the door price was $356 with tax. I noted that the price on the web is much higher, so this is an in store only deal.

The Walmart I was in last night was out of the 50" and had next to no 55" flat models left, but did have a number of 60" units as well as some of the 55" curved ones. The prices on all of these was the lowest I have ever seen, black friday included.

I don't think I'd go out of my way looking for one, but if you happen to be in a store that sells them you may as well swing by the TV area to see if there's a deal to be had.

If this included the k8000 models these are still very capable sets. Love my 55inch model.

Confirm prices using Brickseek. I just checked, and indeed they are on clearance. The lowest price I see listed for the UN55KU6300 is $275. Might just have to pick one up after work :D

The question is " is it wise to purchase a discontinued line of product in almost half price?"

This line of TVs is highly praised on this forum for desktop/gaming use. They are discontinuing and clearing these out for the the 2017 models. A 55" Ku6300 under $300 is a steal! Many on here bought the 40 inch version for $300 plus tax and consider it an amazing deal.

If I had the money and didn't just buy th e ku7500 ID leave work and run to the store now.

Don't think the recent UN43KU7500 will be seen anywhere other then BB and they want over $500 for it according to their site. Glad I got in on the Samsclub deal. Still waiting to hear back on my PP with Freedom from the Daily Deal at BB a couple days back.

I had no hesitation. Samsung rolls out a new line of televisions every spring, so if you're worried about buying a soon to be discontinued set then you'd want to avoid that brand. But really, with as fast as things change in that market these days there is no downside. It is not like you'd want to find parts for one 5 or 6 years from now. If it broke then you'd replace it.

Considering how little is changed between the KU and MU line, it is a no-brainer in my opinion to buy the KU at half price.

You're right! I had never heard of Brickseek, what a useful site. I can confirm that the lowest pricing in my area is $275 as well. And I thought I got a good deal at $350. Oh well, no regrets... the TV is beautiful and I was thinking of buying one a month ago when I saw it on sale for $500.

What is very interesting to me is the variance in pricing. Two stores had the 55" model for $275 (very limited quantities at both) but the cheapest I'm seeing the 50" model is $299. Most stores in my area are selling both the 50" and 55" at the same price - $450.

it does, my scraper is getting some odd inventory issues in the stores though.

one has a 65 for 749 near me, or it did yesterday. Gone today. Might be back tomorrow.

brickseeker says the one near me should have 3 UN55KU6300. But they arent able to find them.

The 6300 went on sale a while back. So the quantities on Brickseek are probably the last listings before they cleared out.

Tempting, but I think I'll hang on to my UN50JU6500 for another year or so until the MU series gets cheap, and then 'upgrade'. :)

I picked up a UN49KU6500 from Walmart today for $349. Thanks for the heads up. I'm blown away by the TV so far.

Im sitting here trying to find a KS9000 75" model.... no luck heh....
Look for 8000 too if you willing to drop down to 65". There are basicly the same TV. The 9000 only has a slightly higher brightness. You can't go wrong with either on these clearance prices.

Normally I would completely 100% agree with you.. I have a 65'' KS8500 in my bedroom that I LOVE to death. I have a 70" Vizio 1080P in my living room that i keep telling myself I won't go any less then 70 to replace.. even if it is a 4K TV. heh...

Haha can respect that. I been trying to get my hands on a 8000 but no luck.

tried walmart . No dice. They had a 55" 6 series for $499 but I passed

I know this is a little late, but the price listed on the tag isn't what it will ring up for. The 49KU6500 I bought said $549 on the shelf, but it rang up as $349.
