Hello all,

I am interested in upgrading monitors from a 1080p 23.6" monitor ASUS VE247H.

I have a i5 4670k and GTX 1070 GPU. I would like to upgrade to 1440p but would like an affordable monitor.

I sit about 2 feet away from my computer desk and this is primarily used for Gaming and watching movies/shows.

I game CSGO, GTA V, DOTA 2.

My budget is ~500. Any suggestions?

I got two of these 1440P Gsync dells I like them over the 27" versions I find myself able to focus better on the game with 24" monitors.

The pixel density is also higher on the 24" version (123 ppi vs 109 ppi on the 27") however I do find the bigger 27" to be more immersive. Anything bigger than 27" is too big IMO I used a 32" HP Omen before and I had to either turn my head to see the whole screen or sit far back (Which made it harder to read). If you wanted big size but also good pixel density 4K is really the only way to go. 24" 1440p is equal to 4K on a 36" screen. 4K @ 27" is extremely sharp but 4K is also very demanding. Far as text being too small, you can always increase the text size and use increase the OS scaling. I find 125% to be perfect for 24" 1440p, 115% for 27" and 110% text zoom on the browser (I use Nosquint Plus)

I had my 24" directly in front of me along with the 27"

I think where you put the monitor on the desk table has a big difference right now it's on the corner of the desk instead of trying to Square it up.

I know a 27" is more immersive but I'm faster with a 24" you just hex stuff out with a smaller monitor pick up info.

The reason I went with 24" I had a X2 BenQs before the Dell 24" and found I was playing more games like Divinity Original Sin and text top down games became more fun. Granted the 27" made targets bigger in Battlefield 4 and is more enjoyable. My eyes felt stretched with the 27" with any game that wasn't a First Person Shooter.

costco has acer predators for $499, close to a costco?

I am unable to find this deal. I see the ASUS ROG's close to regular price.

I was thinking about this deal, they had it for $300 with the slickdeals rebate, but I was too slow to pull the trigger since I was adamant on a 27"

It's been going for a little. If you have one close to you there's a chance one is there. There's still several here at the north Georgia Costco right down the street from me. I just picked one up last week.

so I gotta ask lol, how did you come up with your user name? its so close to mine, and mine is pretty unique?

My two friends tags are ENdo and FaZO. Merged the two to get ENZO.

Btw is a EVGA 1070 Black edition good warrant a G-sync 1440p 144hz monitor?

It should be good it won't be good on Ultra for every game like the Witcher 3.
It's about the same as a 980ti which I still own but can still play anything out there.

I picked up the AOC Agon 27" a few weeks ago while it was on a bundle sale from newegg. It was $391 with a 32 gb usb drive. Love the monitor, 27 inch 1440p and 144 Hz, there is a slight amount backlight bleed on the left edge but its something I could always ignore. I had to pull the trigger when I found it because normally the monitor is $489.

I just recently bought an Acer XB271HU and it is gorgeous. I haven't done the full calibration yet, but it is a huge upgrade over my 1080p cheap monitors. I have heard of bad blacklight bleed from some people and on IPS there is some, but I must have gotten a golden sample as I only have a little bit on the bottom right and it is not noticeable with a small light on.

If you want glossy and overclockable this is a good monitor http://www.ebay.com/itm/X-star-DP27...514726?hash=item2a69caa566:g:j5IAAOSwuhhXV-Vo

I have one and the glossy screen looks MUCH sharper and cleaner compared to the matte screens, including the ROG Swift and S2716DG (bought them and ending up returning because of the matte screen). It's a shame they won't offer the Swift with a gloss screen.
