Facebook, at their yearly developer conference F8, has unveiled new 360 degree video cameras. The model x24 and x6 cameras not only capture video in 360 degrees, but add depth information also. This gives the cameras six degrees of freedom or 6DoF. When viewing the video with a VR headset, you can lean into the film for a more immersive experience. Some of the other similar cameras on the market can effectively create holograms.

Unveiled at the company’s yearly developer conference, F8, the so-called x24 and x6 cameras are said to capture 360 video with depth information, giving captured video six degrees of freedom (6DoF). This means you can not only move your vantage point up/down, left/right like before, but now forwards/backwards, pitch, yaw and roll are possible while in a 360 video. Facebook says depth information is captured for every frame in the video, and because it outputs in 3D, video can be feed into existing visual effects (VFX) software tools to create a mashup of live-action capture and computer-generated imagery (CGI).
 
What it comes down to is the $. How much green paper will a consumer need to spend?

If it's anything like the other decently high-quality 3d video camera it's expensive and that doesn't include the hardware and any other stuff to make it function. Probably not meant for you and me but for professionals.
 
I think is professional level equipment for creating professional 360/VR video. So probably not very affordable for consumers.

This isnt a consumer space. At VRLA, the crowd was ECSTATIC over a $3500 pro 360 cam.
