SKL-X moved forward to week 25. CFL coming in Q4.

Intel will unveil its Basin Falls platform, i.e. Skylake-X, Kaby Lake-X processors and X299 chipset, at Computex 2017 in Taipei during May 30-June 3 two months earlier than originally scheduled, and will bring forward the launch of Coffee Lake microarchitecture based on a 14nm process node from January 2018 originally to August 2017, to cope with increasing competition from AMD's Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 processors, according to Taiwan-based PC vendors.

The Basin Falls-based products are expected to be launched at the E3 gaming show in the US in June, with the official release at the end of the month.

The Skylake-X series has three 140W processors featuring 6-, 8- and 10-core architectures, while the Kaby Lake-X series has an 112W quad-core processor. In August, Intel will release a top-end 12-core Skylake-X processor.

My in-laws don't even bother getting out of bed any more since I hooked them up with it. Made them pay for access to my Plex account and bam, now I'm on a first name basis with them instead of being known as the "sperm donor'. ;)

The m3 Skylake Compute Stick is pretty awesome. Far faster than the Cherry Trail sticks, double the RAM and eMMC storage, and you can sometimes find them for $299 on sale. That includes the Windows 10 license, which is a not-insignificant chunk of that price.

The Cherry Trail is as you say, though, not particularly impressive. And the m5 Compute Sticks are too pricey - better to buy a NUC or something like what you linked.
 
Kaby Lake will continue to sell when they release Coffee Lake. They are not going to value line it and make the 6 core the same price as Kaby Lake is now. Someone has to pay for that 7nm node and it needs a ton of research dollars to get it hammered out, it's not like 10nm has been a fun adventure for Intel.

Still trying with the excuse in hope that an i7 CFL-S isn't 350$?

CFL-S is 149mm2 for 6+2 and 126mm2 for 4+2. KBL is 123mm2 for 4+2.

I just don't see Intel being that charitable. I tell you what, Shintai, if Intel prices a 6 core/12 thread CFL-S at competitive clocks (say 3.6GHz+) at $350 or less in August of this year, I will eat my Ryzen sticker on camera.

You go ahead and PM me if it goes down that way. Otherwise, I'm going to deliver a nice, fat "I told you so."

And with the Vega in June information its clear from the same sources that Ryzen is a sales isn't exactly great. Not that its any news as such because AMD from its own forecast didn't exactly expect any changes. And Mindfactory, you know a top 9 AMD retailer with Ryzen preorders have to this date sold 5135 Ryzen CPUs.

Bon appetit with your sticker but I am not going to remind you. Selling Pentiums with HT enabled for 64$ was also something some people rejected before it happened. Yet here we are.

Yes I know you will be wrong just like you predicting Ryzen would be like Bulldozer. As for the dual core with hyper threading, well they had to do something to try to sell that useless chip, plus some games wont even run on a dual core anymore. Only thing that would make them sell it cheaper is Ryzen selling well and you like to throw around it's not... so I guess you sunk your own ship.

True that, but $300 is encroaching on cheap HTPC territory w/ many cheap CPU/mobo combos out there @ $120+ $50 case/PSU and as said, I have plenty of W7 keys that can be upgraded to 10 for free. So I guess it all depends on how much the form factor is worth to you and or client.

SKL-X 12 core confirmed. Unlike the LCC 6, 8 and 10, the 12 core is based on the MCC die.

Is Skylake-X meant to be 14+ or 14++
I assume Coffee Lake is 14++, but anyone know for sure which process is used for Skylake-X?

For reference Kaby Lake was fabricated on the 14+ process.

I've heard both. Personally I think it will be 14nm+.

Ah well, that would make sense they keep 14++ just for Coffee Lake and next HEDT after Skylake-X.
Makes it more of a challenge to decide between 8-Core Skylake-X and 6-Core Coffee Lake for a more general consumer if consideration is not for the PCIe and they differentiate on the process - not many will need AVX512 in consumer-prosumer.
