Riotoro Onyx 750W Power Supply Review - Riotoro makes some very simple, yet very bold claims about the Onyx 750W that we very much have the ability to test. "Provides reliable power for great gaming" and "Manufactured and stress tested to strict standards for trouble-free installation and smooth operation," are the two that catch our eye. Let's see about that, and value too.

Im looking at this to replace my Tagan 680W super rock... got this PSU in 2005 but it doesnt like xfire, and this 750 looks like just the thing

I wont touch a PSU with high droop, especially from new!
It screams of 2 Enermax PSUs I had that had to be replaced after 2 years because the droop was so bad.

One good point of this PSU that you miss is that the outer dimensions adhere perfectly to the "ATX Long" specifications, which will assure that it fits in all relevant cases.
A plain exterior is in my opinion a good thing, since it means less money has been wasted where it's not needed for proper function.

I think this review needs more info about the cables:
* Being semi modular it would be nice to know what cables are permanent and what connector combinations are possible to use.
* What cable gauge is used?
* The article state: "The main ATX cable is a bit short of complete though." To me "short of complete" is the same as "incomplete", thus making me wonder what's missing from it?

Other than that the noise would make this PSU a non-option for me. Not only is the fan constantly running at high speed, but the acrylic deflector plate (required for proper direction of the air flow) is sure to increase the noise.

The Riotoro Onyx 750W itself is ~5 5/8 inches long while the cables provide a serviceable length of ~19 to 23 inches to the first or only connector.

The sleeving is all the flat FlexForce style except for on the main ATX cable and, as such, the FlexForce cables are very nice and complete. The main ATX cable is a bit short of complete though.

It is a non issue though.

[inserted quotes]... It is a non issue though.
Paul, your answer doesn't help me one bit.
1. The fact that this is one of very few (reviewed) PSUs that actually adhere to the size standards should, IMO, be specifically mentioned (and honored) in the conclusion. It's not.
2. I still don't get in what way the main ATX cable is "short of complete".
3. What is a non issue? The fan running full speed or the presence (and acoustic influence) of a deflector plate? And why do you consider it to not be an issue?
I can understand that the deflector isn't an issue if the fan noise is unbearable even without it...
