Chris Roberts has posted an extensive production schedule report that details what is coming to Star Citizen, and when. The game’s massive 3.0 update, which is expected to bow in June, will include a brand-new gameplay system called "Planetary Tech," which will allow players to visit and explore any planet or moon. In before "It’s never coming out."

"No one has ever attempted to build a game as ambitious as Star Citizen and I doubt any publisher would have the patience or stamina that it requires to build something that breaks molds the way Star Citizen does," Roberts said. "3.0 with its Planetary Tech is a testimony to the power of Crowdfunding and an enthusiastic, empowered Community. Myself and the team and eternally thankful to be able to build Star Citizen the right way, being able to take the time to engineer things for the long term, a way that will allow the universe to flourish for years to come. Together we are making history."

I'm so tired of these extremely stupid statements. You can't finish a game without adding the things it needs to be complete. Almost everything being worked on was established in the first year of planning and pre-development.

Agreed, but for most games that is called the Alpha and Beta stage. Star Citizen just released their 3.0 patch lol

I'd be happy to check it out if it ever actually gets released, I'm just really glad that I'm not one of those who got scammed into gifting the developers money for nothing.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

They are on ALPHA 2.6, and will be updating to ALPHA 3.0. This can easily be seen/read on literally every single thing that has to do with star citizen.

I think he's referring too, them recently adding

LUMBERYARD
VULKEN

Personally I see that more as a progression then a Feature..
But Like others... CR is known for his feature Creep! :p

P2W FTL. Although the SC defenders are out enforce.

Subbed because every time someone questions Roberts his fans get into a tizzy

CR/SC detractors are equally as obsessed if you ask me. I think there's plenty to complain about and plenty to praise. How about we let this play out instead of being Nostradamus?.

The criticisms are valid. His fans around here do like to attack people. I've read every SC post on this board just because it's funny. Derek Smart debacle was my favorite and continues to be. I didn't even realize who he was until fans started accusing people of being shills for him.

Some of the detractors are equitably at fault, but many of us have pointed out valid concerns. I want this to be successful but have yet to see anything that makes me want to jump in feet first (I don't preorder games).

They take it personally. It makes sense though, once you've invested in something you need to justify the purchase.

They went overboard with the scope before establishing a solid, bug free foundation. If the game ever gets released I'll definitely buy it. It'll set the new standard for Space Simulations. For the folks spending thousands on Spaceships: Thanks for financing this project. I personally will enjoy it more working my way thru the ranks. Once I had the money for the more expensive ships in Elite Dangerous the fun sort of went out of the game. Just don't have the time to go on eleborate quests anymore.

And some have invested many many hundreds of dollars, some thousands, while here I quibble over whether or not I should wait for a AAA video game to drop to $30 before picking it up. If the game fails, they have essentially just wiped their butt with $100 bills and flushed it down the toilet... it HAS to succeed, it just HAS to!

In fact, it not only has to succeed, but it needs to draw in players that didn't invest hundreds or thousands, otherwise the huge ships they paid big bucks for will not have any pay-2-win value to them if there aren't free/low-investment player fodder base to pwn in lesser ships.

Since this is a publicly funded game..

If I may ask... Why shouldn't they sell ships (or other items) While the game is being made?

Oh when EA sells ingame content you actually get that's evil and they're greedy and they must die!

But if CI sells a promise of ingame content for about 100x the price than usual microtransactions it's perfectly fine?

If only people had a choice on what to purchase with their money.... Its a shame they can keep getting away with holding a gun to people's head and forcing them to buy things.

I hope it works as advertised in the demo, this could be one of the most amazing advancements in video games since going 3d.

I highly doubt that everything you see in that demo is actually procedural. As for the terrain, we could create that procedurally ages ago. There is nothing amazing about that. I don't even recall when did terragen become a thing, but it was at least 15 years ago. I first saw speedtree about 10 years ago as well.

wow... i cant believe the number of low IQ posters... posting here. lol... instead of badmouthing star citizen you should have been over trolling andromeda before its release lol

It's up to the people in other games with micro transactions as well. Still it's only ever defended in the case of SC.

Notice Chris Roberts has gained weight. Look up any interview from 4 years ago.

Lately my wife has been dealing with some medical issues and hasn't been able to cook as frequently. So I've been substituting a good meal for work with 3 double cheese burgers from McDonald's and I'm starting to notice the impact it's having on my gut.

How much is 3 of those wonderful grease patties you ask? $5.08 here in Pennsylvania, I guess by your description I'm living high on the hog with such high grade gourmet cuisine.

WTF are you even talking about? If you dont want to purchase something, then dont. Thats it, Done. End. Doesn't matter what game it is.

If something is of no value to you, then.dont.buy.it.

"Spend your money the way I want you to spend your money or I will bitch about it on the internet!"

ahhh the old if you don't buy it don't talk about it trick.

Just because you didn't purchase it doesn't mean you can't discuss it. The last game being this overhyped I remember was Watch Dogs like 4 years before it came out. Hack anything! Do anything! We're currently laughing about how DLC that costs $1k. Cool people bought. This is what I was talking about, you guys show up and get all butt hurt. Thanks for proving my point ;)

Who is saying not to talk about it? Oh thats right, no one ever.

If the development team could harvest stupidity and hate then they would have the entire known universe ready for release. You just added another solar system ;)

They claim ship sales will stop when they game is out of alpha/beta. I imagine they will skirt along the edges as long as possible. MMOs are essentially never finished, so even when a polished up release is sold retail, I imagine it will be in "early access" phase for another 6-12 months to maximize sales as much as possible. When that ends I am sure they will be replaced with something else.

As for the pay to win aspect, they claim it is not pay to win. To be fair, the more expensive ships include things like a cargo freighter which won't exactly be that great in combat. But it all depends on how long it takes to get a ship. If it takes 10+ hours of work to get a better fighter over the starter ship, you know the game is geared for pay to win. I imagine it will be close to 40-50 hours, in which case, "able to get them all in game" is not exactly feasible. If it does end up taking 200 hours to get a few decent fighters, bomber, mid level auxiliary ship then you know the game was clearly meant for large ship purchases.

We will see how it all pans out though.

I have to admit I'm interested in how it pans out... I was even willing to jump into the bandwagon and buy the starter pack to try it out thinking "hey if I can get all the ships in the game... why not?" but apparently the ships were only to be bought / won / stolen once the game is released...
Does anyone know if that's still the case ? (If so, I would still not buy now and wait for release... I didn't see back then why I would buy the starter ship if others have like an army of those and if the only way, as of today, to get better ships is to shell more money)
