The ones I've been looking at are:

ASUS PG279Q 27" IPS, 165hz, GSYNC
Acer Predator XB271HU, 27" IPS, 165hz, GSYNC

Newly added:

AOC Agon AG271QG 27”, 165hz, Gsync, IPS
ViewSonic XG2703-GS 27" 165Hz IPS WQHD 1440p G-Sync

Help me decide what to get? I am leaning hard towards the Asus, but I have read bad things about all of them, and I had the Dell S2716DG and it was utter crap. Worst Dell I have ever owned. Lots of banding issues. Plus it was a TN panel so the colors were not that great. My system has a EVGA 1080 FTW, and it pushed the Dell just fine at 144hz 1440p.

Acer Predator XB271HU, 27" IPS, 165hz, GSYNC

I recently bought one at Costco for $599. Loving it so much. Wouldn't pay the 750-800+ for the Asus, when most reviews I could find said they were either equal, or the Acer was better. I did not want a TN panel either, they look horrible.

If I were going for a 1440p/144hz+ monitor now, and use that as my only monitor, XB271HU is my first and probably the only choice.

When I saw these monitors (XB271HU and PG279Q) a year and a half ago at an expo, the first thing I have noticed is the difference in IPS glow. XB271HU is comparable to my PG278Q (TN) in terms of black content contrast, where as PG279Q is much closer to a typical IPS monitor (like my old VX2770-SMH), IE a LOT worse. The glow I saw on XB271HU on a completely dark background (which would make the glow more obvious) was less obvious than PG279Q's blacks when the said black was surrounded by white page.

I use PG278Q myself, and am happy with it, but this is taken in the context of:

1. I have a colorimeter (Spyder4Pro that came with my 4k monitor), so I can make better use out of that particular TN panel.

2. I could not get my hands on XB270HU back when they were the only G-Sync monitors, since Acer wasn't selling them here, so I had to settle for PG278Q.

3. I am more tolerant towards TN because I am much less tolerant towards IPS glow. The standard I use for this is if the glow is worse than my PG278Q, I am not buying it. XB271HU passes this criteria, PG279Q fails completely.

Could you do us a HUGE favor and check if you can activate 10bit colours in the nVidia control panels with that monitor?

XB271HU stands out more from all other 1440p/144hz monitor in that it's the only 8bit+FRC panel, all other options are 8bit only.

Enjoy.

Although that monitor doesn't actually have the same panel, at least in detail.

PG279Q uses a different panel, but the specs are pretty much the same, XB271HU uses a new panel (8bit+FRC), the view sonic one uses the older XB270HU panel.

I canceled it. I was under the assumption it was the same panel because of everywhere I have read.

So you are saying the ViewSonic is different from the Asus and the Asus is different from the XB271HU?

Ugh....what monitor to order.

Do you play twitch shooters or for some other reason really "need" 120+Hz craziness? If not, tons of better options open up, some larger, some with better color (and even HDR), some cheaper...

It's different but only in details (as far as I could tell), the only one that really stands out that's really different from the rest is the XB271HU, the others are all 8bit high refresh IPS like panels. You can't really go too wrong with the Viewsonic monitor.

I personally wouldn't put high refresh with exclusively twitch shooters.

I don't play twitch shooters (at least not often or remotely serious enough to even make it a consideration), but high refresh rate really makes a difference in FPS, I can't really imagine myself playing on 60hz monitors anymore.

I play FPS games like Infinite Warfare, Black Ops 3, BF4. Some GTAV, and Titanfall2. So 144hz is needed. I currently have my Ultrawide 34" curved dell, and it does great, but 60hz and once I experienced the 144 hz on that DEll S2716DG I was hooked. Played much better in the games.

Arg, well I can't reorder it and get the same discount now. :( But I will just wait and see if the Acer goes onsale. I am afraid of the QC though with them.

Oops, sorry about that >.<

haha. It's not a big deal. One of them will go on sale again soon. It's just so hard to decide which one of those to get. Acer and Asus have had huge QC issues.

I just got a 34in ips ultrawide and it was the best purchase of everything I got.... Give them a look. Also, I got it for 50% off. I paid 400.00 for a 800.00 monitor.

I already own a 34" dell ultrawide curved monitor. But it's not fast enough for gaming. I've already seen how much better I play with a 144hz. :)

The only negative of the XB271 or P279Q is some minor BLB. Obv. if you get one with lots you will need to return it. I own the XB270HU and it's probably the best monitor I've ever owned. I can use Gsync if I want to max out graphics settings and/or can use fastsync for high fps games like OW. You pretty much have all the options you could want and an IPS.

NIZMOZ are those 34 in ?
you said
"I already own a 34" dell ultrawide curved monitor. But it's not fast enough for gaming."
So what is without breaking the bank?

I am using a 27" right now and I need something bigger 32" or better.
what video card for those?

The right one is my Dell Ultrawide Curved 34". The left was the 27" S2716DG 144hz gaming monitor from Dell. It was sent back due to banding and other issues.
