I ended up ordering a Watercool HEATKILLER IV for my Nvidia 1080Ti FE. Right now Watercool is having supply issues due to outsourcing the plating/finish work (per their rep over on OCnet). Decided to play around with the factory backplate that came with the 1080Ti and came up with the following. Looks great, saved myself about $40 (with shipping) and the trouble of removing the GPU when stock is available.

Drilled out the factory holes at very slow speeds and cleaned up any edges with a razor.

The screws that came with the Heatkiller waterblock are ALMOST too short. Almost. They had just enough threads to make sure there was a tight fit between the block and GPU. I did go down to Fastenal and order some slightly longer (matched the factory screws) ones but I don't think I need them. Might change them out the next time I have it apart. No need really though...

The screws around the main GPU chip did not require drilling out. Don't drill out any of them...
