I just pulled the trigger on this. I was waiting for vega but Long cards don't work in my case, hit power supply and this should hold me over and we will see how vega does but can't beat it for the price and performance now.

Nice deal. When you get the card, do you mind measuring from the PCI bracket to the end of the card? I have a Jonsbo U1 Plus that I want to try to fit this card into. By my measurements, I have about 212mm.. it says the card is 211mm in length, so I might be able to squeeze it in by a hair, lol. This card supposedly overclocks really well too.
 
I was tempted to buy this, but I have a freesync monitor and no real need. Seems like very good price, particularly given form factor.

They confirm the heat sink is 211mm, and the card is 173mm.
 
Dang this is way more tempting than the pm deal to staples I posted. Only like 20 more as no tax for me.

I saw something in the sff forum where you can trim the plastic shroud and maybe get a couple more mm if needed.

So what are the drawbacks over a full length card? Maybe less boost clocks or less total power to the card?

wow nice, would be awesome in an HTPC build or X51! You would definitely need the 300W PSU though too.

I fit a 1060FE in there and this card looks to be shorter than that. Even fullsize FEs will fit you just have to remove the front fan.

May be a stupid question, but here it goes anyway: If this card is as capable as a full-sized GTX 1080 (I don't know if there are limitations to this card as opposed to full size) then why create them so big to begin with? So I guess my main question is whether these smaller form factor cards are in any way less as good as their full-size counterparts?

I was reading that the boost clocks and such are identical. You should in no way see a dramatic difference in performance between the mini and the full.

However, with the stock cooler, expect higher temperatures with the mini vs the full size.

As far as I can tell. Depending on your flavors its a little slower, but it matches the typical amount of cuda cores which is 2560, memory bandwidth of 256, and total memory of 8Gb. Those 3 facts define the functionality of the card. Everything else is clock speed. Basically no it's a little slower as it's not clocked as high, but support wise it "Appears" to be the same based on what the Zotac page advertises. At the end of the day it's better to just find some reviews.

"In actual games, the Zotac GTX 1080 Mini typically only loses out to faster GTX 1080 cards by 1-2 fps. Performance is excellent, regardless of whether we use DirectX 11, DirectX 12, or Vulkan titles, and why wouldn't it be? After all, besides the Titan X Pascal, this is the fastest consumer GPU out there. The card is capable of achieving smooth frame rates even at 4K with maximum settings, although more punishing/less optimised games like Deus Ex and Fallout 4 do push it a little beyond its limits. Still, if you can live with running at high settings instead of ultra, this is most definitely a 4K capable graphics card.

One benefit of being a smaller card is lower power consumption. Our total system power consumption of 322W is clear proof of the Pascal architecture's outstanding efficiency. Again, it isn't especially surprising. As we discovered when overclocking, the card does appear to be quite heavily power-limited, likely as a means of preventing overheating and excessive noise – a very good idea, to be sure. I have a freesync monitor too. But nvidia's variable refresh rate works good as well and my monitor is 75hz so this should be good since I am only 1440p and this card should give me plenty of frame rates.

If Vega is worth it. I'll sell it and get Vega, no biggie. It will fit in me secondary x16 slot lol. But I expect this card to stay for a bit.
 
Would this be a good candidate for water cooling? Or would it not give a worthwhile boost in performance??
 
Pascal does not benefit much from water cooling. Only point of water cooling is if you want to run fans on silent and that is your main goal. The fans are quiet on this thing. My card boosts at 2000+ with OC set to 170+. It stays in the 60s while gaming. I am damn impressed with this card how it performs in a tiny package. I have nothing against water cooling but if you are thinking you will gain worth while performance over air cooling on on this card or pascal in general I think you will be disappointed. You might sustain slightly better clocks but I don't think its worth the effort if performance is what you want to get out of it.
 
Thanks for the advice. I was worried about the mini's losing performance, but it sounds like that's not really the case...easier to fit as well.

It's perfect for my mini-itx case and like NKD said, it's very quiet. Changing out my 770 FTW for this card made a significant drop in overall case temps.
 
Thanks for the tip I don't like eBay or Newegg, but this may be a good enough deal for me to go ahead and pull the trigger on it.
