Sold my 1070 G1 for 204$ less than i bought it for. Back to 780 until Gigabyte 1080ti comes out, I find all other cards ugly MSI is not bad tho.

Depreciation is rough. Will be probably even rougher if I try to sell my 1080. in comparison my 970 lost only 120 when I sold it.

Btw, this Jen guy did fucking lie. I knew this would happen. Basically he dropped the Founder's Edition and Phantom Edition 1080s down to 499. All AIB cards are still 529-599.
I sold my 1080 for a 500 and feel ripped :p.

So how badly are markups gonna be for the non-reference cards?

I am blessed with some decent cash on hand... so I am going 1080ti Sli. I lived my whole life going with 2nd tier gear... Bang for the buck was my lane..... not anymore..... I wont blow 3 grand on dual TITANS.... but 1200 for DUAL 180ti's ... I can do that. And I will go SLI VOLTAS later.

I see prices have dropped a bit on Amazon for the 1080 and 1070...but still not where they should be

499 is for reference only. Everything else would be priced 29-99 higher as has always been the case.

lol Nvidia still have 399 and 549 for this shit. I guess its the other way around. 349 phantom price + 50 for founder edition tax and then 499 + 50 founders edition tax. Leave it up to partners for the 499 price. Beauty about that is it wont go any lower. Founders edition gives no reason for board partners to go below 499.99. Although I have yet to see gtx 1070 at 349.99. Some partners already have the 1080 at 499.99

Guess I am happy that I got my EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 the other day for ~$341, after tax, no MIRs.

if the Gigabyte G1 1070 drops close to $350 soon then I'll bite...if not I'll wait for Volta/Vega

Running a 980Ti and I'm a definite maybe. I have no complaints with my current performance at 1440p but getting 70-80% more performance is compelling none the less. If I don't upgrade, I'll end up getting the Ti variant of Volta along with an entirely new build.

I chose "Waiting for vega" because there's no "No" option.

I have a water cooled 1080, and game at 1080P or with a VR headset. I imagine I'm mostly CPU bound anyway, in monitor games, and the VR headset locks the framerate at a level the 1080 doesn't seem to have any trouble keeping up with.

I have no plans to change from 1080 to 1080Ti, primarily because I'm not feeling any gfx perf issues at the moment, plus it's just easier to deal with the lower wattage card imo. But, I am attracted to 1080Ti being the likely last and latest rev of the pascal silicon. I might go baller and run a 1080Ti at 80% power target. I bought my 1080 used so I won't take as big of a hit (not that I really worry about that). But probably I'll just wait for 1180, maybe even 1180Ti ...

1080TI is a nice card but I can't even fully utilize my 1080.

At 80% power target, it won't be much of an upgrade over the 1080 though :p Just wait like one extra year (rough estimate) for Volta if you want to stay in a lower TDP range.

I think my 1080 is already set to 90% power target. You don't lose 10% performance. Power rises much faster than performance at the very top.

So anyone with a 1080 going SLI since the 1080s price is dropping as oppose to upgrading to the 1080 ti ?

If I was making this decision, not for non-4k resolutions (3440x1440 is maybe, 1440p is a definite no no).

This is coming from TPU's conclusion that SLI scaling, for pascal, drops like a rock when resolution is dropped. At 1440p they only managed 33% scaling on average, 45% if non-scaled games was removed from consideration, that's shoddy scaling, and at 33% average you may as well not bother.

At 4k there is a better reason to, scaling is better.

Check CList or some hardware forums. Those who had 1080 SLI's are dropping them for single 1080Ti's, so you can get them for about $400-$420.

Went from an AMD 290 to a GTX 1080 FE (used a few months). Got the 1080 for below 1070 price.

Mainly because I can make an excuse that it's for my research as the Cuda cores come in handy for AI/deep learning.

My Azureth bot needs an upgrade.

Being that SLI seems to be sputtering at the moment, I will be upping my 1080 to a 1080 ti to have as much power as possible without compromising compatibility. I am in no rush though and will wait for some custom designs before jumping in.
