DAN A4-SFX: The smallest gaming case in the world

I can run a gpu stress test and a m.2 stress test if you'd like, i might run a cpu one too just to see if everything running altogether would affect it, but i can't think of a scenario where the cpu, gpu and m.2 are going all out, maybe if you were transfering large files to another drive and then decided you want to do some gaming while its transferring, but how often do people do that? In any case, i'll give it a go when i get home for curiosities sake.
I think it would be OK to watch the highest temperature after playing a steam game for 1 or 2 hours.

Worried about my backside mobo m.2 temps while gaming (960 pro). Hitting 62ºC in Dan case. This is with a GTX 1070. When I upgrade to 1080 ti, that's another 100 watts of heat, potentially bleeding out into the backplate and towards the m.2. Anyone else getting temps like this? What's the max temp these should run at? (I can't find documentation online)

Kept digging and found this http://www.samsung.com/semiconducto...ent/NVMe_SSD_960_PRO_EVO_Brochure_Rev_1_1.pdf

I'm near thermal operating limit of 70ºC! Damn. I bet the 1080 ti puts it over the top. Gotta abandon that back slot... Good thing Strix 270i has the front slot. I can just go SATA for additional storage then.

Because of better airflow my riser-cable is located behind GPU not board, maybe it is worth a try.....

Is there a difference between the AXP-100 H Muscle and a regular AXP-100 Muscle (really stupid name tbh)?

Also, how are you attaching the fan to the underside of the heatsink after bending the pipes? The top of the heatsink is flat, but the bottom of the heatsink has a protrusion. Thanks.

that would be awesome. will be waiting for it.

Here you go, I put the LP53 with a9x14 pwm with low noise adapter back on.

stress.png

(the pic looks really small on this thread, if you can't read the numbers there is a high rez pic here )

This is with prime 95 stressing the cpu, furmark stressing the gpu, and crystaldiskmark stressing the m.2.

The 960 pro still didn't reach throttle limits, i only ran the stress tests for around 10 mins though, i assume if i ran them for an hour or two it would probably hit 70°C, i hope this helps.

very nice, I think I'll use the top ty100 idea! great!

Hmm I contacted him to buy it to see if he would ship to US. He says he doesn't trust paypal and asks to do a bank transfer for payment. Should I decline? It seems kind of risky for a $300+ item.

Only use paypal, you have better security if something goes wrong.

Except for the seller, then he's the one at higher risk of getting screwed. Not a risk I'd be willing to take for $300,-

LOL doesnt trust paypal? its quite the opposite in the online transaction world, definitely sounds like a scam.

Very few people in Denmark trusts paypal for payments between private persons - because the seller is almost fully fucked. It has happened alot, and almost every time they get scammed by buyer who gets the items and say they dont. We use something else called mobilepay (easier to get the police involved etc.) and bankdrafts. We are a small country, so very few trust buyers from outside DK, especially outside the EU.

EDIT: He is a member of 7 years of a Danish hardware forum, and is well known, so no need to worry :)

Thanks for showing that the top fan fits there.
So this edge I mentioned earlier in the thread didn't get in the way of the top fan or did you bend/cut it? It's a bit dark there but from the pics it looks like you cut the whole side of the PSU bracket.
upload_2017-3-9_19-38-17.png

If you did bend/cut it it's probably better to just drill couple of holes and lower the whole PSU bracket like I described here:

The PSU bracket is a separate removable piece, right? So I wouldn't even have to do it this way:

I could just lower the whole bracket by drilling new screw holes 3cm lower on the front side and putting spacers to the mb side screws. Or would there be something blocking moving it down 3cm? Is there someone who could test out the temp difference? even just adding a fan outside the case on the top and temporarily lowering the PSU for better airflow?
Dan, could these extra holes be added to v2 and the top of the inner frame made 92mm fan friendly? I wager a lot of people would be interested in adding an active exhaust to the case.

Unfortunately, just measuring based on this pic http://i.imgur.com/9qw1acX.jpg a 92mm fan wouldn't be completely flat against the top panel since the bottom right corner would be against the inner frame.

How did you mount the fan?
Could you test how much of a difference it makes?

hey looks like we can put two ty-100 up there. one above the psu and one above the mobo! i'll try that since i have 3

Yes, the bar was removed.

It is not needed for the strength or rigidity for mounting the PSU. With it in place, a 12mm fan fit no problem, but the ridge creates noise.

Not sure how much of a difference, but if you place your hand over it you can feel the heat being pumped out, so I would assume its doing something!

that would be awesome. will be waiting for it.

this is after an hour of stress tests, the 960 pro went upto 72°C but as you can see it didn't affect the speeds too much. maybe ill try it with the riser cable on the gpu side if i can be bothered to do that again.

It finally arrived, and I live in Europe :D
Handling fee was €70, so total ended up with €300.

I lost track of this thread over 50 pages ago so as I am still missing something I wonder if someone kindly can give me and update.

i. For the least amount of noise possible, especially when idle, what cpu cooler is currently spoken about? I spoted silverstone something somewhere, but no idea if that works. (4690k, not oveclocked)
ii. I expect not to draw more than 300W, but I would prefer if the psu fan didn't spin, or make much noise, so I guess I should look at oversizing with a SF600?
iii. Are there any places to get custom cables, or maybe somewhere a kit and explanation on how to do it?

i. Noctua NH-L9i
ii. Some say the SF450 is better, other say the SF600 is better. Ich think the SD450 would be more quiet.

1. Either the L9i (easy, quiet, but high temps if gaming), or LP53 with the Noctua 92mm A9x14 slim fan attached too it (pain in the butt to mount, expensive, but better temps).
2. You should be fine with the SF450
3. Cablemod.com

dan, a suggestion: in the future, have your cases shipped directly to customers from Lian-Li via TW Air. Send your risers to Lian-Li too. It's a little embarrassing that I placed an order for an ncase AND received it in less time than it took to process a dan case in Germany via DHL.

Got my case today! I'm in NC.

My USPS tracking never updated until it was put on my porch.

Does your USPS page look like this still?

View attachment 18863 Anybody else from Socal having their shipment get stuck at a facility Bell Gardens, CA? Mine has been there for a day and a half with no update :( (The "In Transit to destination" update is an automated one that happens after 24 hours without a true update)

No, it is like the LP-52. Take off the fan, put on a slim fan - please read the whole post :)

It looks like the Arctic Freezer 11 LP has a similar design to the Noctua L9i. They both have a copper block that contacts the CPU top that has a pyramidal cross-section. They both use two heat pipes that touch the side of the copper block and move the heat to higher outside fins. The fins are made of aluminium for both coolers.

The fan for the Freezer 11 LP clips on. This means that users would have to find a way to attach a new slim fan. The screws in the corners are to engage little plastic feet that use Intel-style push-pins. These plastic feet cause clearance issues with crowed sockets. That is what they say in the bit-tech review "make sure your motherboard has plenty of free room round the CPU socket, and keep your receipts just in case".

https://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cooling/2012/07/02/arctic-freezer-11-lp-review/1

The slim fan will not be free. The Noctua NF-A9x14 slim fan costs around $16 and the Freezer 11 LP cooler costs about $17. This $33 total is getting close to the $38 price of the L9i cooler and fan combination.

If you buy it, please let us know if it works for you.

Yeah, I am thinking about it, but aren't fully prepared to move into the a4 sfx yet, as I am still waiting to purchase delid tool. I have the C7 and the LP52+a9x14, but may or may not try the 11-LP out..(n)

Hey guys, a quick note regarding the AXP-100 Full copper from Thermalright.
It seems like I will be having a Skype conversation with them in the next few days hopefully.
Before doing so, I wanted to get any feedback from the community that might be worth passing on. Those who have modded their AXP-100s - any comments etc?

It sounds like you have a couple of the suggested coolers already.

Looking carefully at the construction and mounting system of the Arctic Freezer 11 LP, I think you should not buy the cooler. The fan frame also holds the screws for mounting the cooler to the plastic push-pin feet. Once you remove the fan, you will have no way to get your cooler to say on the socket. We both agree that the default fan can not be used, as it is too thick.

I only modded the normal version.
Only comment I can give is that it is extremly easy to do and I have actually ordered a new one (MORE HEATSINKS) which should arrive tomorrow. Dan voiced concerns about a potential reduction of the cooling performance if you bend the heatpipes, provided I get the heatsink tomorrow I will test both in my old PC without side panel (open air) to see if the performace stays constant.
Sadly I can't give you any more feedback as I did not do any testing yet, I will start this weekend with the first few heatsinks.

why you having a skype with them anyways?

Thanks guys, I'll make sure to pass on your comments. The conversation is really just to see what they can do to help, if anything. Just came out some emails that were being sent back and forward.
