It turns out that the Wall Street Journal’s report about USB-C on new iPhones may be total bunk, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has chimed in about Apple sticking with Lightning for their next iPhone. This is believable, as the fruit company is all about the proprietary. Kuo suggests that Apple is going forward with a Lightning port because it is “slightly slimmer” than USB-C (whew!).

We believe all three new iPhones launching in 2H17 will support fast charging by the adoption of Type-C Power Delivery technology (while still retaining the Lightning port). A key technical challenge lies with ensuring product safety and stable data transmission during a fast charge. In order to achieve that goal, we think Apple will adopt TI's power management and Cypress's Power Delivery chip solutions for the new iPhone models. We note the OLED version may have a faster charging speed thanks to a 2-cell L shaped battery pack design.

Do people really care?
It's apple and iphone. They can come out with a proprietary wireless charging scheme, force people to buy completely new chargers and get away with it just because.

iPhones are the best. Make a better product and they stop getting away with it. I say that as a Google Pixel Android user. Android customization doesn't mean much, and iOS is more stable and better supported.

Google and Samsung are very close lately though. This pixel is damn good.

Samsung is not anywhere close to Google, and it's probably one of the worst phone to get for lasting. The only phone I consider outside of Pixel is HTC 10, and I am a Pixel User.

iOS on the other hand, iPhone 7 + iOS 10.3 has been butter smooth experience so far that no Android can match. Especially in the UI/UX and ecosystem integration.

Really tempted to get HTC Ultra U sapphire version now.... o_O

Samsung makes great phones. I just wish they gave you a Choice for stock Android. I love my 6P and I will buy phones with stock Android.

I've enjoyed wireless charging, sd cards, choice of design, ease of development, and so much more on android.
What exactly does apple do better?

6P owner here as well, and it's the first phone in a long time I paid off and will probably use for a few years because it just does everything great. I kind of wish I'd gotten the smaller 5X though, screen is gorgeous and all, but damn if it's pretty big in my hand and pocket.

I got a 5x for my mom and while still a good phone it felt cheap too me. I don't find the 6P too big for me. It is just right I think.

still using a Lumia 950 here, has USB C charger and can eat a 256GB Micro SD card with no issues

iOS. For people that are fine with what iOS offers - The experience has yet to be matched by any Android device IMO. It's why I use a SE as my actual daily driver, but I've still shuffled through at least a couple Android phones every year since the EVO to check out how things have progressed. Android is close.. But it's not there yet.

Think is the "average user" probably doesn't care much about "the best", they're just sheep who realize every 2 years they are allowed to upgrade their phone "for free" with their over priced cell plan. Hell I got one of the cheaper Samsung phones, and it's not as fast as their flag ship products, camera isn't as good, not as many internal functions, but it makes calls, gets texts, takes good enough pictures for my tastes, and allows me to browse the internet, so it really covers what I want in a phone perfectly at a cost that is way less than any iphone (and yes I'm including the plans)

You're talking about experience. You're not able to quantify experience. I do some ios development myself and have experienced both. iOS is just simplified for stupid people. There's a whole heap of restrictions on the development side that doesn't exist on android.
I know people who love flip phones and feature phones and refuse to move to anything other than that.
Widgets alone make android so much nicer to use.

All this fucking obsession with fast charging, this is the bastard child of the fucking obsession with thinner thinner!.
If you had 2 6000mah batteries, charging in a parallel it could charge at very reasonable times and having 12000mah in a phone will give you a shit load of battery life...
just so you wouldn't have to worry about fast-chargin shit during the day, heavy use or not I believe.
Jeez depending on the screen size 3 6000mah batteries don't sound unreasonable to me.

No the only thing Apple makes is thw phone with the highest profit margin.

From reading this article, what I gather is, Apple is the bad guy because they are continuing to use a design that came out YEARS before the design they are supposed to be using which offers no advantage other then its the design they should be using. Is that right?

USB-C became common like in the last year and you guys are acting like it should just be on everything by now and everyone is obligated to use it.

Apple has to support a lot of OTHER ventures that it operates. The profits it makes off one product are used to fuel other products.

Besides at least you know where Apples value comes from. It's right there when YOU pay for it. Ever wonder why Google, a company touted for being so generous to it's customers is the most valued company in the world? Where does that value come from if YOU aren't paying for it???

U dunno I like the fact that I can plug my phone into my car's lighter and my 3 amp charger can have it nearly full 30 minutes later from 40%
