AMD Press Release on AM4 Motherboard X370 Chipset Specifications

pcei 4 is still a ways off. so if you really want to wait a year...

Dude, somebody has to shoehorn an X370 in a ITX with 2x PCI-E slots for dual(quad?) Vega for the Lan party box. Heh! Oh, if only Abit was still around.
biostar has one coming... edit: oops its a matx, X370-GT3. the itx is single slot.

oh and you no hdcp guys, wrap your heads around this, kaby supports hdcp on it IGPU and ryzen DOES NOT have an IGPU. got it?! good! if you want hdcp and ryzen then get a gtx1xxx or wait for vega.

or just wait for the APUs for the am4 chipset?

None of these boards have me itching to pre-order...

That MSI platinum is the closest.

I kind of like the Asus Hero, but I agree. The port selection seems odd to me, the mid range Asus has USB-C as 3.0 and some 3.1 with USB-A and most of them have a small selection. That said, they all seem to have a ton of Sata 3 ports, so I guess that's nice.

I wish they wouldn't waste so much time on RGB.

Same the lighting is something I'd disconnect if I had the choice.

I like a lot of the I/O options but these are seriously lacking when compared to Z270 boards in the same price range. I'll stay hopeful.

Sweet! The X300 mini-itx is just what I can use.

After reading all the news, I wanted to do a Ryzen build but having 2 current desktops that are still running great, I just couldn't justify it. BUT if they have a mini-itx mobo, I can redo the 4770K HTPC setup in my NCASE M1.

All of the prices are about $50-$100 more than I would have expected.
I thought PGA was cheaper to manufacture??? AMD is supposed to be cheaper. -_-

From what i see, VRMs on Ryzen boards look beefier than they are on Intel counterparts. That may be an illusion though, since i am no buildzoid.
But i am not particularly surprised if they are, with what we are hearing about Ryzen so far.

AMD is only cheaper cause they had nothing to compete. AMD had their $1000 halo CPU back in the day also when it was competitive. You really think the new CPUs would be this cheap if it blew Intel out the water? Motherboard manufacturer are probably trying to capitalize on the Ryzen hype at the moment. I expect prices to come down when the hype dies down.

Gigabyte mentioned (based on articles from other sites) HDMI 2.0 on the boards that have it. Did not see mention of revision of DP that is on the ones that have it.

GIGABYTE motherboards that have HDMI 2.0 support have DisplayPort 1.2 ports on them.

Like when the Fury X/Nano was going to launch everyone wanted it to be $300 like they would spite nVidia for the fun of it... And it actually came out $100 over priced at ~$650.

It's hard to undercut when you don't have the volume.

I do have to chuckle at all the people thinking AMD is going to price it like they are a charity.

that's the prob "I expect". everybody expects that it has to do this and be priced at that but that not how it works. and the top chip is half the prices of a roughly equal chip! how is that not a good deal?! even if it turns out to only have 90% of the performance that's still 90% for 1/2 price! just like the "I expect it to OC this much" guys....

Yeah, even though it is more accessible CPU price it still needs to be treated like a Broadwell-E HEDT from Intel.

Cheers

Maybe if they dropped the fancy lighting they could be more competitive on the price

300x+R5 1600X+VEGA NANO CARD+PCI 3.0x4 M.2. SSD sounds like a tasty and satisfying cup of Ryzen tea.

Those are the people that forget about the $1,000 FX series processors.

There are people who forget about those $100 Opteron 146s that OC'd like a mofo and matched that FX and used standard non ECC RAM.

AMD is not a charity, but they are certainly not an Intel either.

9590 was stupidly priced too, Radeon Pro Duo. Niche products. AMD always had a way to unlock their cheaper options.

Intel's had some awesome bargain CPUs. If AMD had the brand recognition or the fastest consumer desktop processor, they'd charge every bit as much as Intel does. AMD has done it before.

Huh? You are missing my point. Intel tries to lock everything down with "K" SKUs. Locking BLCK/turbo bins/ Micro code updates to nix overclocking. Tell me when AMD has pulled this type of bullshit on purpose to make the consumer pay more for overclocking?

Intel has decent bargain CPUs but only recently you can overclock certain dual cores etc. Look at that price of the "K" i3 they released. What a bargain. Competition is good and Intel is getting a little too crafty on how they gouge the consumer.

Intel just needs to stop the BS and just unlock all the CPUs and bin them more carefully. If you want that 5ghz CPU, bin it on the 7700k or whatever.

One thing you don't seem to understand is how binning works with Intel. Intel is one of the most capable semi-conductor manufacturers on the planet. They are extremely consistent with regard to yields and most of the silicon is going to be capable of the same clock ranges. In other words, binning isn't going to work as a way to justify higher end parts or costs. You'd quickly find that the bulk of all Intel CPUs would be similarly capable. Thus, no one would buy the higher end parts at all. This has always been an issue for the company going back to the 386 days, if not earlier. It's the same reason why no one ever buys Extreme Edition CPUs unless those CPUs have more cores than the standard SKU's do. Everyone knows the CPUs a couple models down can achieve the same clocks as the Extreme Editions.

AMD isn't quite so consistent. Getting a good overclocker from them is more luck of the draw than it usually is for Intel CPUs. The only time Intel had this same issue was when they switched to an internal voltage regulator which they have since stopped using.

The titanium misses the mark for me.

More features and cheaper. These motherboards are terribly disappointing.

I've been looking at the MSI titanium ... what are the pros & cons? Are they really worth that much money? Why are they disappointing to you?

$299 MSI X370 TITANIUM

Up to the individual to determine if its worth more money to you or not. That Z270 board packs quite a bit more on board (to include DDR4 4133 support out of the box) for a mere $30 more. I'll be looking for a dual NIC board and won't be buying one that doesn't include one. The board with dual Intel NIC's get more consideration. Pro's to the one not using a Realtek Sound chip. :D

Heres another MSI Z270 that is cheaper and looks to still out class the MSI X370 Plat minus using the Killer NIC:

edit: when it comes down to it, a motherboard is only useful to you if it does everything you need, the more expensive boards are very typically needed for max OC's (and max add ons). If all you need is something to hold a CPU, peripherals and attach an HDD then anything will do. Why I am disappointed so far is mainly to do with the pre-order prices, most initial MB releases are mediocre as these are but their prices are a bit too high when considering the competition.
